While Marcus is of relatively short stature for his race, he is still considered tall for a humanoid. He is generally muscular without being overly so, a genetic trait for his race. His eyes seem to pierce whatever they look at with an emerald stare.
His face is marred by scars, a snaking scar that runs from his neck down, covering the rest of his body. His short black hair, tarnished by silver-white streaks, is drawn-back into a bun.
His outfit consists of a functional, but comfortable, robe, covered by a loose top coat, allowing for the full ranges of movement needed during combat. His boots are military, and a cloak is tied to the neck of his coat.
Marcus Kiriyu possesses a cold and completely uncaring demeanour. This will manifest itself in the fact that when push comes to shove,Marcus Kiriyu will just as soon leave a struggling ally behind rather than put themselves in danger. While this may ensure his survival, it often leaves him as an outcast amongst his peers.
Be it during a fight or life in general, moral compass means little to Marcus Kiriyu. If you don’t want a person harmed, you had better specify. General terms mean nothing to him as Marcus Kiriyu only deals in specifics. If the rules of a duel say you can’t shoot before the count of three? A grenade over the shoulder is fair game, then. Tell Marcus Kiriyu to stop someone at all costs, well, you better not be concerned if they’re brought back dead or alive.
Marcus Kiriyu has a tendency to be secretive and keeps to himself, relying on deception to conceal his motives and intentions. He is a schemer, and plots and plans against others carefully. When dealing with a confrontation, he will try and bluff his way out of trouble, or overcome obstacles with deliberate, covert actions.
People tend to reverently follow Marcus Kiriyu’s lead and look up to him in difficult situations. Whether through inspirational behavior, fear and manipulation, or belief and hope for a better future, they think that Marcus Kiriyu genuinely believes what he does. This is all a clever facade, however, as Marcus Kiriyu is not always as upstanding and respectable as his followers believe. He is no idol, but an opportunist who knows how to manipulate a crowd into bettering his own machinations.
Marcus Kiriyu has mastered his own form of melee combat, Hin'Tan, which combines elements from Broken Gate with Barrier and Telekinesis. It works by protecting his extremities with a Force-powered barrier, protecting them from harm. This technique requires significant concentration on the part of the user, linked directly to their skill in the Force power Barrier.
The art of Hin'Tan focuses on blocking, or swatting aside, physical attacks, allowing a practitioner to get to close to their opponent and pummel them with punches charged with telekinetic energy, dealing devastating damage. Hin'Tan is highly dependent on the user's own agility and ruthlessness in combat, as well as having no support for any weapons. It's use is therefor dangerous as the practitioner is effectively exposed unless he can keep the focus required to raise the barriers and concentrate his telekinesis.
Marcus Kiriyu has been noted, at times, for being less than serious in a fight. He will approach any enemy he might see as beneath him with an air of cocky assurance and casual nonchalance, made more poignant by his annoyance that someone dare stand in his way. This is often accompanied by an eye-roll that says, "Now look, you've gone and made me pull out my lightsaber."
Depending on the opponent, this can have an intimidating effect which may help or hinder Marcus Kiriyu's efforts in defeating his foe.
