Declan Roark's lean and angular form is the result of years of military training. His musculature favors function over form and gives him the appearance of a viper waiting to strike. A short black beard, white at the chin, leads to steel-grey eyes, a furrowed brow, and a head of thick short black hair. Declan's voice, like his appearance, is gruff and firm.
Declan Roark looks at any problem he comes across and instead of immediately complaining about it sets out to figuring out a solution. He will work tirelessly to find workarounds or a solution, but can often overthink the resolution and come up with a "fix" that is actually more complex than needed. This driven approach to fixing problems can be helpful at times but grating at others when a simple "restart" would have accomplished the task quicker than re-programming the entire device.
Declan Roark does not charge a high price because he has to pay for a life of luxury; he charges a high price because he knows that he is the best in the game and worth the credits. Those who do not know Declan Roark will feel he is gouging them, but those who have seen him in action know that he always delivers. This bravado follows Declan Roark around and builds on the success of completed jobs and can be off-putting to other Mercenaries that will try and lash back by pointing out his failures.
Declan Roark has a tendency to get addicted to things, even if those things aren't addictive.
Declan Roark has a military background, and draws upon his experience to tackle the obstacles in his life. This makes him decisive, efficient, and fearless; provides him with a strong sense of duty and strength; which tends to influence his ability to fight and lead. However, a rigid mind is less compassionate towards individuals and less imaginative, and Declan Roark sometimes risks appearing callous, relatable, or incapable of compromising.
Declan is erratic, cunning, and remorseless in his combat style and will use any means necessary to gain an advantage in combat. Declan seeks to confuse opponents by ignoring historical norms relating to combat and will strike from odd angles and awkward stances. This technique makes him a liability when fighting with a team due to his unpredictable nature.
Without the gift of the Force, Declan Roark has trained rigorously with a wide range of melee weaponry and technology to better handle opponents that are able to harness the mythical power. Declan Roark has been conditioned to fight against foes that are Force-sensitive and are able to compensate against fighting an adversary wielding something as deadly as a lightsaber. While this adaptive combat training makes him lethal in close quarters combat against any kind of threat, they are still at the mercy of a long ranged fighter, assailant or Force user that prefers to attack the mind instead of the body.
