Rayze is an imposing physical specimen, tall and well built he tends to cut a rather intimidating figure, especially when he is decked out in his customary armour. He has tanned skin and strong boned features, with a mop of dark hair on his head and a seeming permanent 5 o'clock shadow despite his best attempts to tame it, and his face is expressive and straightforward, making it easy for people to guess how he is feeling.
Rayze has always been of the opinion that if he gives his word, then he will stand by it. While he may not always agree with those who lead, he will fight to the death to defend the ideals and people that he has sworn to serve. When it comes to loyalty, Rayze cannot stand those who do not follow a code of some description, and deems oath-breakers to be the lowest of the low. This attitude can make him unwilling to bend and compromise, and means that he will sometimes be at war with himself, agonising over the choice between what he has sworn to do, and what he feels he should do.
Despite the fact that Rayze knows he can usually resort to violence to sort his problems, he is not above at least attempting diplomacy to get his way. This can sometimes lead to him chasing a hopeless cause in order to try and solve a situation which cannot be salvaged, but can also lead the man to overplaying his hand and almost forcing a situation towards violence. Not one to back down, Rayze has no qualms with retaliating to a slight with vicious abandon, with this stubborn streak sometimes leading to the man getting into fights he cannot win.
Rayze is very blunt when it comes to talking to other people, and he doesn’t really seem to care about anyone else’s feelings or how his words may cause offense of pain. While some people can appreciate and find the man’s singular straight-forward nature to be an asset, others can see this as bullish and lacking in subtlety or tactfulness. Rayze is stubborn, but impulsive. Earn his trust, and you have it forever. Lose it, and you’ll never find a more fearsome adversary.
Everyone has a hero figure, and Rayze is no exception. He looks up to Zandro as the example of what he wants to be, despite the fact he was never able to meet the man. This worship and veneration of Zandro as a paragon of what the Sith wants to achieve can work in his favour by giving him a template to follow with how he treats others, but can also mean that he is blind to the fact that Zandro was not perfect. Rayze sees himself as Zandro’s ‘true’ heir and, should his father be insulted in any way, the man can overreact and lash out which can make him easy to goad if a person knows the right buttons to push.
While some warriors are content to simply win a fight and defeat their foes, Rayze’s doctrine dictates that he will not rest until every one of his foes lies dead at his feet. He views the idea of leaving an enemy alive to fight another day as abhorrent and as such is relentless in his quest to utterly annihilate his enemies. This approach has earned him some respect in terms of people seeing that he will do anything to accomplish his mission, however it can cause some to look down on the man as a monster, caught up in a blood lust which he barely even tries to hide or justify.
When Rayze was undergoing his piloting training, he had a tendency to push his ship to the absolute limits in order to test both himself and his craft. While this meant that he has probably cost Arcona more credits in repairs than any other pilot the Clan possesses, he has gained an intricate and highly detailed knowledge of just how far he can push his starfighter before it will fail him, allowing the man to pull off some of the most intricate and skin-of-his-teeth manoeuvres without a second thought as to his own safety or possible survival. However, the man's confidence means that in a craft he is unfamiliar with, he can over-extend himself and put himself at risk by acting as though he knows the craft perfectly.
