Welcome to Emissary #2, written by... Emissary #2. I don't have any funny commentary beyond that, so let's get into it.
Today marks the launch of the Brotherhood's new official Instagram and X/Twitter accounts! If you're already on those platforms, please follow us! Nora will be releasing a report with more details in the near future.
Thanks to all who popped in to Zuza's member hangouts on Discord the past couple of weeks. We're still experimenting to find the best time slots for members, so keep an eye out for posts in the Events channel in Discord (at the top of the channel list). The dates and times of member hangouts will always be posted in there. Everyone is welcome!
Anyone remember the Dark Voice? It was a club-wide newsletter we put out back in the day. One of the ideas that Qormus brought up in his Emissary plans was to restart some form of member newsletter. And thus, the Dark Voice will be reborn—with some significant changes. For one thing, it'll need a new name, lest people think we're "releasing" Iddy to be put on display several times per year.
More importantly, you now have the opportunity to send us ideas for what you'd like to see in the new newsletter. Gossip rag? Agony aunt advice column? Something else? If you have an idea, hit up the Emissary Staff Suggestion Box and tell us what you'd like to see!
One feature of my approach to Emissary is that I think of "retention" in the broad sense of "giving members the best experience possible".
Engagement—that is, interaction between members and the club as an organisaton—is a major component of retention. Of course, interaction is a two-way street. Making sure members feel heard is important. Historically, some Brotherhood leaders haven't been very good at that.
And thus, the Brotherhood Leadership Feedback Form was born.
There's a lot more to unpack about this form, so I'll post a supplementary report with more info in the next few days.
Work continues apace on the web site updates. The text of the new visitor home page is finished, and we're working with the Herald Staff to arrange some shiny new graphics while I plug away at the SEO that'll make us show up in search results. Meanwhile, James (praise be) has been working with the Emissary Staff to decide on what sorts of features the member home page will have.
We plan to roll the results of this update out in phases. In particular, the first round of updates to the visitor and member home pages will focus on function. Any updates to the design (i.e. appearance) of those page will happen as part of a separate project. Likewise, we do plan to update the Admin page at some point in the future, but that'll also be a separate project.
Going forward, Emissary updates will focus more on single-topic news posts as needed. "Reports" like this one will be more of a quarterly thing, and will be a roundup of news you might've missed.
See you all next time!
