With sharp, slanted brown eyes too old for his face and a diminished frame, Uji has the look of a soldier forgotten by war. His body atrophied by injury, the former Obelisk still strides straight-backed, assured in how he carries himself despite this. The stressed lines slowly appearing on his vital features are occasionally broken by the quick smirk, and he can often be found arching one of his dark brows in exasperation.
Uji's skin is a pale, oriental tan, marred by a multitude of scars and marks, particularly two long, thin twin scars across his sharp, straight nose, running from below his left eye to the other side of his face. His strong jaw and pronounced cheeks are covered by a neatly-kept, full goatee and framed by the occasional loose locks of dark black hair that slip from the knot he keeps it in. His strong posture is only slightly undercut by the slant of his step as he leans on a cane.
Uji is well aware that he is not a good man. His brutality and years spent manipulating circumstances to achieve desired results have convinced many that he is utterly heartless. But this is not entirely true. He has recognized many of his errors and in raising his child realized his goal to create something he could pass to her is far more important than any ambitions for personal power or prestige. He still struggles with the dark temptation to solve problems through violence, at times only barely able to keep the anger from boiling to the surface. Other times? He fails.
Uji is not one to tolerate mediocrity or inaction. He appreciates efficacy above all else and disdains anything less. This often leads him to coming across harshly or impatiently. These views are compounded by his own bone-deep pride and stubbornness, which often causes him to judge those around him based on their ability to achieve anything of worth. This leads him to often criticize and point out opportunities, seeking to improve himself, others, and the world as he sees fit. For all his good intentions, his ambitions can make him seem callous and even arrogant as he goads, and baits those around him into doing what he wants them to do.
Uji is by nature a sardonic and sarcastic being, he often waits for opportunities in conversation to make a biting remark or twist someone's words against them, among friends he does so for humor's sake and loves little more than wars of words with someone he considers an intellectual peer. When dealing with those he doesn’t see as a peer he often comes across as mocking and rude, leading to difficulty in social circumstances that require a softer touch.
Patience and intelligence are two of Uji's few virtues. He is a careful planner by nature, tending to take the time to analyze any situation before speaking or acting. This slow, cunning approach makes him a good tactician, impressive problem-solver, and careful manipulator. However, it can also prevent him from acting on the spur of the moment when it's needed. After all, not every problem waits around to be solved.
Uji knows his best days are behind him, his ailments and choice of lifestyle ensuring he has little intention of living to be an old man. Despite this, he knows he has a responsibility to pass on his knowledge to his daughter as she attends the Praxeum and those he considers the next generation. Even during combat, if he considers his opponent someone capable but in need of direction, he will provide that direction whether they are seeking it or not. This insistence on instruction could lead to overextending himself and becoming the victim.
Uji has spent his entire life devoted to learning how to duel, studying every manuscript and treaties on lightsaber combat though devoting his time and practice to the art of Makashi which he sees as superior to other forms of combat. Despite his health restricting his ability to fight as he did in his youth, he’s prone to analyzing those around him and determining how a situation would play out should it come to weapons being drawn. This can lead to underestimating an opponent capable of fooling his senses through deception and trickery.
