Emery has a small frame for a Zabarak. Her small bust is offset by wide hips, a tight stomach, and wiry arms and legs. Her hairless head sports a conventional crown of small horns typical to the species. Her facial tattoo covers both of her eyes and a streak down the middle of her nose and lips in black ink. This only serves to accentuate her bright, ruby eyes and pale, smooth red skin. She has a single tattoo on the underside of her left arm: a line of 21 tally-marks counting off the number of enemy squad leaders that she has defeated.
Emery Rose was born with a rare heart condition for Zabrak–her second heart never formed properly, making her less resistant to pain than the rest of her species while introducing a few other health concerns that even the best doctors have struggled to outright cure. This most likely contributed to her stunted growth, and eventually lead her to finding her calling in life behind the seat of a starfighter. Despite the limitations her condition has on her physical abilities when her boots are on the ground, those hinderances take a backseat to her quick-reflexes and adaptive mind when she's inside starfighter. It is there she feels truly alive. When grounded for too long, she can get wrestles, and it's easy. Because of her condition, she has to watch herself with drinking strenuous social activity, which can lead to her feeling left out and alone more often than not.
Despite whatever all her other characteristics may convey, Emery Rose retains the air of a person that is confident, if not arrogant. Minor (and often, major) things in her body language - her walk, her stance, her expressions - reveal these feelings. At times, it seems she borders upon narcissism, especially judging from how much she enjoys her own company.
Emery Rose is a lateral thinker, and when she encounters problems or dilemmas, she is very good at improvising and coming up with alternative solutions. This allows Emery Rose to find ways out of situations others might give up on. While these solutions are often not so obvious to others, Emery Rose can typically explain and lead others through her plan...as long as they are patient and willing enough to trust her outside thinking.
"Rose" is not Emery's true surname. It was the nickname the other children teased her with while growing up on one of Coruscant's lower levels because of her skin and eye color. As she grew to adulthood, she would adopt the name and wear it like a badge of pride and honor that created a theme to the persona she crafted for herself. Though her exotic features and confident smile can be alluring, her sharp wit and determination are lined with thorns. She is proud of her name, her reputation, and will not back down from any challenge, no matter the odds. This tenacity is endearing to the pilots that fly with her, but her level of competitiveness can be off-putting and rather intimidating to those who would rather avoid confrontation and advance in rank through manipulation and politics.
Emery Rose considers herself the best pilot in not just the Collective, but in all of the Unknown Regions. While she hasn't run into the likes of the famed Poe Dameron, that technically means she has never actually lost to him. With the claim for best pilot on hold until their eventual encounter, Emery Rose focuses her attention on the enemies of the Collective. She flies fast, takes risks, and will not stop until someone manages to shoot her down. She does not concern herself with the line between confidence and arrogance. So far, she maintains her reputation of having never been forced to abandon or eject from her starfighter. That said, Emery Rose is a pilot to her core, which means she has purposely neglected learning any kind of combat skills beyond how to point and shoot at people with a Blaster pistol.
Emery Rose possesses a single minded drive for victory, and a deep-seated martyr complex. When presented with a chance to wade into battle versus overwhelming odds, Emery Rose does not hesitate, and instead rushes in, relying on skill, fate or chance to let her survive.
