Ruka is a broad-shouldered young man of average height, his body lined in ropy muscle with ribs and hipbones jutting sharp under his tight skin. A back-alley fighter, his arms and shoulders are particularly defined, a chiseled upper body dropping to a narrow waist, and his hands, often jammed into his pockets as he slouches around, are covered in rough callouses and small scars. Ruka's vibrant green, peridot skin and dark, malachite hair, nearly black in low light, make him a spot of color against almost any backdrop. His youthful face, curled in a taunting smirk as often as a grumpy scowl, is set with eyes even brighter in hue, their royal violet shade sparkling with hints of paradise blue underneath thick, squared brows, the left of which is broken by a faint scar glancing from cheekbone to forehead and just missing his sharp nose. Knife-cut, pillow-styled, and impossibly thick, Ruka's shaggy hair is of middling length at the top and shaved underneath, its choppy edges falling low over his eyes and ears, often pulled back in a loose, tufted tail of dreadlocks at the back of his head.

Much of Ruka's body, particularly his left side and particularly his face and skull, are covered in shrapnel scars from a grenade. The thin and thick lines spray in pale, minty white slashes over his features, disrupting his lips and brow and cutting grooves into his cheeks and jaw; his left ear is ragged at its remaining edges, nearly torn apart, and is notably smaller now than its twin. Several cheap piercings decorate what they still can of his ears, notably the black gauges in their lobes, and his nails are naturally black in color.

Most notable of the Mirialan's appearance, however, are his geometric tattoos classic to his people. Ruka has several more than just the typical facial tattoos, with patterns also wrapping around his wrists and ankles and over the backs of his hands and up his forearms in sleeves. The boy's black-ink markings predominantly consist of triangles and small squares, sweeping under his eyes and marching up along his jaw from his chin. Additionally, a pair of solid black ink wings stretch across his entire back, the feathers sweeping wide in simple shapes that make up a coherent angelic pattern. These obvious and, to some, exotic designs compliment his second-generation accent, not so thick in his mouth that his tongue can't fall flat enough to form Basic, but still very much there, spicing every word.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Die... (General Aspect)

When life had taught him that he was, ultimately, alone, the galaxy elected to prove Ruka wrong the day he met his partner, Corazon Ya-ir. Ruka found his eyes opened by the young, aspiring Jedi's optimism, kindness, and love, found that there was real beauty and faith in the Light, that it was something to be treasured and respected. When all else of Ruka rages and stumbles as he embraces the Dark, Corazon is his guiding thought, a glimmer reminding him how to stay steady and strong. When together, the two stand united, practicing Battle Meditation to make themselves a complimentary, balanced whole. When apart, though, their worry for one another and their separate missions can be taxing, and Ruka himself is more prone to the negative effects of the Dark Side's influence, displayed in everything from bouts of recklessness or doubt to reoccurring nightmares.

Defying Gravity (General Aspect)

Ruka has spent the entirety of his young life entrapped, be it by the throes of urban poverty, the responsibility of raising two small siblings, or the Light-written tenants of teachings in which he had no place. He has been scoffed at, beat down, and chased by judgement at almost every turn, as if he was something disgusting or wicked.

But Ruka has also always had ambitions, and now, happily free in the Dark Side's embrace after bottling up that hurricane inside so long, he chases them. Disgusting? Powerful. Powerful enough to inspire loathing. Wicked? Powerful. Powerful enough to make everyone know better than to mess with him. Ruka, reckless, strives for every scrap of power he can reach, hoping to reach to new heights, to prove not only to the world but also to himself that he's worthy of the ones he loves most. To prove he's good enough to fly.

Sk8tr Boi (Personality Aspect)

It's easy to assume that Ruka is an antisocial streetrat, uncultured and brutish, when looking at him; and while these assumptions aren't completely wrong, they're not right either. Ruka doesn't dislike or distrust people; he just doesn't count on them. He grew up on his own two feet, only able to rely on himself to take care of he and his family. Born in gutters and raised with stoops, mom-and-pop shops, and gang violence as his playground, Ruka is a street kid through and through, brimming with street smarts in a clever mind but lacking anything resembling formal education.

His completely self-reliant manner, rough appearance, and casual lack of politeness, forced or otherwise, make him oftentimes hard to approach and difficult to manage in more diplomatic situations, but anyone looking in will find a young man brimming with burning passion, a fierce protectiveness, and a bone-deep sense of responsibility.

Angel With a Shotgun (Personality Aspect)

Ruka and authority don't mix well. He's a rebel at heart, shown in his half-tamed temper and delinquent streak, despite his hatred and judgement for serious criminal elements. He says what he means and couldn't care less what reaction he gets, and acts just as independently, especially when it comes to the people he cares about. To Ruka, family is his foremost duty, and he is to provide for and guard them even at cost to himself. While it's rare for him to give that kind of devotion to most people, once he does, he will place anyone he views as his family above anything else, and isn't the least bit afraid of breaking the rules to see them safe and happy.

This same devotion can make him a little blind, however, to hurting those he loves in getting himself hurt, and he can sometimes lash out at those closest to him when frustrated.

Look at Him, He's Wicked! (Combat Aspect)

There is no freedom like that the Dark grants, and Ruka revels in it, in the sensation of being unlimited. He immerses himself in its shadowy grasp both in and out of combat, but particularly thrives when in battle, where he fights with his whole self, body and blade. Drawing on the Force, he tends to use indulgent and brutal displays of Lightning and Telekinesis intermingled with augmented saber and sword combat, saving all his power for short, sprinting barrages meant to devastate rather than wearing down his opponents with smaller attacks. These heavy blows don't always work, however, and Ruka can find himself in desperate or exhausted situations where his only recourse is to try to flee, bear the brunt of attack, or distract until he can retaliate.

Never Gonna Bring Me Down (Combat Aspect)

Life on the rough side has taught Ruka key lessons: to only fight when he has to, to fight smart, and to keep hitting until the person trying to hit him doesn't get back up again. Despite a flashfire temper and sometimes violent impulses, Ruka dislikes fighting. He dislikes being in pain or causing it, but knows the necessity of defending himself, and will strike back however he can if he is attacked or threatened. Stubborn and survivalist, he usually seeks to avoid any fights altogether, but will try to end them quickly once engaged and won't turn his back until he knows his opponent is down for the count. However, his youth and experience leave his control shaky at best, and when pushed too far, Ruka can be prone to starting a fight he is wholly unprepared for, or losing himself altogether in trying to get out of one.
