Having spent most of his life in military service, Ariki subconsciously finds standing at ease to be a supremely comfortable stance. He has spent so much time standing at ease that he has developed calluses where his thumbs overlap and those under his command often wonder if he sleeps with his arm behind his back.

Ariki's conduct throughout his military career has been impeccable. He has always, publicly, adhered to the rules of his governing bodies and the orders of his commanders. Those trying to 'dig up dirt' on his past will have an incredibly hard time and people conducting less-than-legal activities know to steer clear of him for fear of being reported.

Ariki holds moral and social propriety in extremely high regard. Everything from holding manual doors open for others to not exposing weakness to an enemy, he has strict code of honour.

With an uncanny composure, Ariki can maintain an air of calm even in the heat of battle. Some view it as uncaring, or even disrespectful, but he only sees at as doing his duty and increasing his chances of being able to bring his crew home safely. He believes that a calm commander will also keep those around him collected and operating at peak efficiency.

Ariki has a keen eye for targets of high strategic value amongst enemy forces. Once identified he will dedicate all of his forces towards its elimination or incapacitation with the expectation of weakening his opposition across the board. This can sometimes lead to having nothing left in reserve when it comes to weapons with limited charges or resources meaning extended battles can become a war of attrition.

He may not be the strongest, smartest, or the most well-resourced leader on any given battlefield, but Ariki refuses to fail because of that. He will sometimes wade into conflicts beyond his capabilities, especially if it serves a greater good. Despite entering combat when out-manned and outgunned he will usually have carefully pre-planned the battle and should his plans falter he will resort to a gambit, unless specifically ordered to retreat.
