Declan Roark's lean and angular form is the result of years of military training. His musculature favors function over form and gives him the appearance of a viper waiting to strike. A short black beard, white at the chin, leads to steel-grey eyes, a furrowed brow, and a head of thick short black hair. Declan's voice, like his appearance, is gruff and firm.
Declan Roark does not charge a high price because he has to pay for a life of luxury; he charges a high price because he knows that he is the best in the game and worth the credits. Those who do not know Declan Roark will feel he is gouging them, but those who have seen him in action know that he always delivers. This bravado follows Declan Roark around and builds on the success of completed jobs and can be off-putting to other Mercenaries that will try and lash back by pointing out his failures.
Declan Roark is a man of action, not promises. To him, the galaxy revolves around what you’ve done and the credits to prove it. Words are nothing more than distractions, while actions—especially the ones that pay—speak louder than any oath or code. He is pragmatic and often cold, believing that survival and success come from tangible results, not ideals or allegiance. His loyalty is earned through contracts and completed missions, not blind faith or loyalty to causes. For Declan, credits are the ultimate currency—not just of wealth, but of trust and respect.
Declan Roark has a military background, and draws upon his experience to tackle the obstacles in his life. This makes him decisive, efficient, and fearless; provides him with a strong sense of duty and strength; which tends to influence his ability to fight and lead. However, a rigid mind is less compassionate towards individuals and less imaginative, and Declan Roark sometimes risks appearing callous, relatable, or incapable of compromising.
Declan Roark prefers to push the rules to the absolute limit. While he is unlikely to actually break rules or disobey orders, he toes the line between what is allowed and what isn't at every opportunity.
Without the gift of the Force, Declan Roark has trained rigorously with a wide range of melee weaponry and technology to better handle opponents that are able to harness the mythical power. Declan Roark has been conditioned to fight against foes that are Force-sensitive and are able to compensate against fighting an adversary wielding something as deadly as a lightsaber. While this adaptive combat training makes him lethal in close quarters combat against any kind of threat, they are still at the mercy of a long ranged fighter, assailant or Force user that prefers to attack the mind instead of the body.
Declan is erratic, cunning, and remorseless in his combat style and will use any means necessary to gain an advantage in combat. Declan seeks to confuse opponents by ignoring historical norms relating to combat and will strike from odd angles and awkward stances. This technique makes him a liability when fighting with a team due to his unpredictable nature.
