Derek has a profound compassion for the troops and soldiers under his command. This sense of protectiveness earns him fierce loyalty. It prevents him from being overly aggressive with how he utilizes them and he will never waste troops, which limits his tactical abilities to a narrow field.
Despite his young age, Derek Cinn believes that actions speak louder than words, and that showing those actions at the right time is the key to success. This lack of ego gives him an endearing quality and make it easier for him to build bonds with friends, but can make people who don't know him hesitant to follow a child blindly.
Derek, Due to his young age has developed a sharp sarcastic tongue. His constant sarcasm has made him disliked by his peers in situations where his sarcasm is not welcome, especially in intense combat situations. However, In relaxed settings, his sarcastic attitude makes even the most boring people smile.
Derek Cinn knows that his small stature and age often make him appear less threatening and has learned to use this to his advantage. With a healthy mix of his boyish smile and his quiet demeanor, he can trick his enemy into ignoring him altogether giving them a sense of security that he can capitalize on whenever he wishes. Though, at times where he needs to be taken seriously, he may find it very difficult to convince them to do so.
Derek has learned that due to his size and age, the power behind his attacks isn't there so he has to make do with what he has. He has learned that he can take advantage of his opponent by startling and confusing them using a mix of complex spins and quickness. As Derek twirls, his lightsaber follows random patterns so that his opponent doesn't know where his attack is coming from and when. However, this leaves Derek vulnerable against an extremely focused and experienced opponent.
Derek Cinn, due to his small stature, prefers to attack quickly and rapidly before an opponent can counter, overpower, or out finesse him. While his attacks lack power, he relies heavily on his low center of gravity, acrobatics, and a surprisingly conditioned body to find openings in their defenses.
