Competition: Mission Impossible, DB Edition - Holocron Heist

Finished
Mission Impossible, DB Edition - Holocron Heist

Good morning, folks. Laren Uscot here. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is simple.

Since the Shadow Academy has relocated to Arx, a monumental effort in security and secrecy has been undertaken to transport invaluable treasures of vast knowledge from all corners of the galaxy into the Master Archives. While massive amounts of ships, manpower, and resources have been dedicated to the protection of these items, there is no such thing as a perfect plan. You and your team, if you choose one, have been tasked to secure a holocron being transported from the Star Destroyer Paladin to the Master Archives of the Shadow Academy on Arx. Bring the holocron to me at a location of your choosing, and you'll be generously rewarded.

As always, should you or any of your team be captured or worse, I will personally disavow any knowledge of your actions. I may be a mercenary, but I'm not stupid. Oh, and this message will self-destruct in five seconds.

Submission Details and Points

Using the prompt above as the introduction, do the following:

  • Write a minimum 500 word story detailing your character's attempt to steal a holocron from the Shadow Academy. No maximum word count. Any submissions under 500 words (+/- 10 words) will not be accepted.
  • Success or failure of your character within the story is completely up to the writer. Have fun with it!
  • If you choose to utilize more than one character, please provide a link to their dossier (Snapshots also accepted). Make sure you have permission of other players to use their characters, if required.
  • If you don't know the Mission Impossible movie series, fear not. Grading will not be effected by any written MI easter eggs of references. I care about the story you write first and foremost. However, references are totally accepted and appreciated, regardless.
  • Use of my character, Laren Uscot, is given for the use of your story in any appropriate manner you so choose.
  • Keep your writing PG-13, please.

Grading

Grading will be done using the Voice Fiction Rubric. Submissions will be accepted in Text Box, Word, or PDF format. No links to external documents, please. Either type on the site or upload to the website. The winner will be chosen based on factors listed in the above rubric.

Awards

As this is a DJB-wide competition, Second Level Crescents will be awarded to the Top Three Placements. As this is a standard Fiction Competition, Clusters of Ice will be awarded under the current policy.

Good luck, everyone! And may the best heist win.
