Plagueis and Vizsla are officially at war. The Ascendant Clan has invaded Vizsla space, and the Mercenary Clan is ready to strike back. As ships land on Zsoldos and ground forces and spec ops begin the fight, you, too, participate in the battle.
Winning entries to this competition will affect the fictional outcome of the feud.
Participants must use one of the following three prompts to craft their entry:
You are thirsty for war, and you are ready to partake in it. Plagueis’s forces are slowly encroaching upon Jasper and Saga, Vizsla’s Great Hall, under the command of both the Dread Lord and Ranthe Benzayn, commanding officer of the Ascendant Legion. Meanwhile, teams of Vizsla soldiers and mercenaries work to stem the attack.
Write from either your character/alt’s perspective. If you are a Plagueian, your objective will be to successfully assault and conquer Saga. If you are a member of Vizsla, your objective will be to halt the Plagueian attack and force them to withdraw from the Great Hall.
Choosing this objective will decrease the likelihood of peace between Vizsla and Plagueis.
Let’s face it: This war between Plagueis and Vizsla is not going to end well, and you’ve got to find a way to nip it in the bud. Neither clan can afford the casualties and embarrassment, so it’s up to you, and a small team of diplomats, to bring the clashing leaders to the table.
Write from the perspective of your character/alt in which you work with members of both Vizsla and Plagueis to negotiate a ceasefire between the two clans. You will need to look at each leader’s character sheet, as well as the prologue fiction, to depict an accurate exchange among the members of the diplomatic team. Analyze what each clan may or may not be willing to sacrifice in order to end the bloody conflict.
Choosing this objective will increase the likelihood of peace between Vizsla and Plagueis.
The foolishness of the carnage has gotten to you, but Zsoldos does provide many opportunities for you, be you from Plagueis or Vizsla. There are bounties to obtain, treasures to seek out, and both allies and enemies to make.
Write from the perspective of your character/alt in which you have detached entirely from war proceedings and do whatever you feel like on Zsoldos. This may include gambling at Ebon Ridge, drinking at Saga, finding a bounty in Yuanming, or duking it out in the Underground Fighting Arena. There are many possibilities.
Choosing this objective will have no effect on the likelihood of peace between Vizsla and Plagueis.
Participants must submit entries in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format, or use the submission text field (markdown capable). Entries must be a minimum of 500 words. Any entries that are under 500 words will be Disqualified and ineligible for participation or placement. There is no maximum word cap. Your story should be centered on your Main or Alternative character as allowed by the Objective you choose.
Slotted NPCs, Wikipedia NPCs, or other characters that you create or invent to tell your story are allowed and encouraged. However, your narrative should focus around either your Main or Alternative character. If writing from the perspective of your main character or alternative character, a snapshot of your Main or Alternative character loadout must be selected and submitted with your entry. Failure to attach a snapshot will prevent you from placing.
The fictions shall be graded using the Fiction Rubric.
