Ah, Celeste. There is a reason they call it the city that never sleeps. Of course, it may have to do with the fact that day and night mean little to a city that rests at the bottom of the sea, but these temporal distinctions are small things compared to the city’s true nature. Celeste is the beating heart of high culture on Selen, the azure jewel of the arts and fine living that defines everything that Selenian life should be. It is a place of sumptuous opera houses, avante garde galeries, sprawling manors, and spiralling towers. A gem for all, so long as you happen to be fabulously wealthy.

Now, with war finished and rest on our minds, it is a perfect time to flesh out this gem of a city. Where’s the chicest salon in town? The most extravagant theatre? The most gorgeous vista? And most importantly, for Arcona, where would be the most exhilarating location for a no-holds barred brawl?

Your objective is to write up a description of a locale within Celeste, in the style of the venues found here. Be as descriptive as possible. Breathe life into the location!

Multiple venues and locales may be written, but only the first in the document will be considered for grading. Winners will be determined based upon how descriptive, creative, and true to Celeste they can be.

Submission & Grading

• Entries will textually describe their venue(s) in detail, giving at minimum: physical descriptions of the exterior and interior; business conducted within the venue; and general details concerning staff. Additional art may be provided as reinforcing material or a guide, but will not be used in the grading process.

• Preferred submission is PDF format, but Word docs and text-box submissions will also be accepted. Google Doc links will NOT be accepted.

• The top three placements will be awarded Third Level Crescents. Due to the nature of the competition, Clusters of Ice and/or Graphite will not be awarded for entries.

• Regardless of placement, entries may be eventually included on the DJB wiki. Note that participation does not guarantee inclusion of the venue to the database.
