Primary reason

“Kooki.” A warm voice called.

Kookimarissima Mimosa turned from the viewport in front of her, putting the stretches of space and the billions of gleaming stars at her back. She saw her Master, Atyiru, approaching with a smile, and smiled in return.

“Master.” The Jedi Hunter greeted the other woman delightedly. Her Master stepped close and gave her a brief, one-armed hug before motioning towards the wide port window.

“Do you have any idea why I asked you to meet me here, Kooki?” Atyiru questioned her. The Alderaanian glanced back out at the stars, studying them as she pondered her answer.

“Because you wanted to show me something?” Kooki returned, though with a smart, querying lit to it. Atyiru laughed softly, and Kooki smiled again, glad her comment had been well-received.

“No, my friend. I want you to show me something.” The Aedile replied, dropping a hand to her belt. The Miraluka stepped away from her Apprentice, activating her saber, and waving a hand to indicate Kooki should do similarly.

Kooki did so, feeling slightly uncertain. This didn’t seem like one of their regular sparring sessions. Still, she pushed the hesitation aside, letting herself grow calm and focused.

Atyiru slipped into an easy defensive stance, holding her pale blade before her. “Attack me, Kooki.” She ordered.

The Jedi Hunter exhaled, and then ran forward, swinging her training saber in a tight arc at her Master’s exposed side. The Miraluka danced away, keeping her saber poised but not moving it. Kooki struck out again, and again, the violet tips of her hair floating around her.

“Think of your planet, and your parents.” Atyiru said, softly but firmly. “Your mother, with her faith.”

Her Master’s words summoned up the memories to Kooki’s mind, and the human found herself putting more effort into her swings. She pushed her mentor further across the room.

“Think of the friends you’ve made here. Think of me. Think of Andrelious.” Atyiru insisted, and Kooki pushed herself harder, faster, breathing in the strength that came with those thoughts of her loved ones. The Aedile’s evasive maneuvers became more frantic.

“Think of your home, Kooki.”

Arcona came to Kooki’s mind, and quite suddenly, her blade was swinging for the Miraluka’s side, too quick to dodge.

Atyiru’s saber cut to the side, slicing clean through the training tool. Kooki froze, her heart pounding, chest rising with her excited breaths. She looked up into her Master’s face and saw a brilliant smile there.

The Aedile deactivated her saber and gripped Kooki by the shoulders, the human too shocked by the realization that she thought of the Shadow Clan as the place she belonged to respond.

Atyiru reached to her belt and withdrew a newly-crafted saber that shone under the ceiling lights. She extended it to Kooki. The Alderaanian blinked and took it, feeling a mix of pride and happiness bubble up in her chest.

“You’ve traveled a long way to earn this, Kooki. Welcome home. Welcome to Knighthood.”

…………………………………………..

I am honoured to be recommending Kookimarissia Mimosa for her elevation to the rank of Dark Jedi Knight. She has been a steward of activity and drive since joining the Brotherhood, making an impression on many inside of Arcona and House Galeres myself included. But she hasn't stopped and today has completed all requirements set forth by the Master at Arms office for her final elevation.

Since her last promotion Kooki has earned a merit medal that was in the form of a Dark Cross; as well as this she has not one crescent but six including a Crescent with Sapphire Star. She has also continued to excel in this competition field, tripling the standard eight competitions required for a Journeyman, showing her ability to adapt and continue to be active inside of the club at all times participating in a total of twenty five competitions. As well as participating in competitions she has also been heavily involved in running competitions, having ran two of her own one titled a “Monkey Kick Off” the other Kooki’s IRC Trivia. Both being successful inside of the clan and bringing more activity to Arcona itself.

She has also continued to progress her character development. This was in the form of completing a wiki page to a high level and approved by a member of the wiki staff. But as well as this she has developed her own character in a massive four thousand and eight hundred word fiction. As well as all of this, she has also taken it a step furthering and helped the development of the House as a whole, this was in the form of wiki pages, creating a list of edits that need to be made inside of the Battleteam wiki pages. She’s helped develop the Battleteams and continue to let them grow in fictional aspects with her thoughts, but also has given me personal help in advice for competitions for the newer members of the House, as well as what way we could make it so we are more interactive with the newer members of House Galeres. To top all of this off Kooki has found the time to also achieve a massive seventy seven clusters of fire.

For all of her hard work and completion of the requirements set by the Master at Arms Office, I am proud to see Kooki elevated to the rank of Knight. Congratulations. You have earned this, and I look forward to seeing what work you do in the future. Keep that roll going and don't let it stop.

Additional reasons

I don’t have enough words appropriate for Kooki (shocking, I know). She’s nothing but brilliant, caring, and dedicated. One of Arcona’s greatest strengths is its community: it is a family, not just a couple Star Wars fans stuck under one roof. Kooki has more than seamlessly become part of that family: she’s become a sweet, outstanding member of it (if not a mother to us). She works hard without complaint, is friendly to everyone, is always present to chat and mingle on IRC, and has unlimited patience. I couldn’t have hoped for a better first student, and certainly couldn’t have expected such a genuine friend. I’m so proud to see her reach Dark Jedi Knight, because she’s more than earned it.

Congratulations, Amy. As my mentor once said to me, I see great things in your future. There’s no where you’ll go but up, sis. Well done.
