Meleu was my first staff hire as Headmaster. He impressed me early with his eagerness and organizational skills, tackling the potential nightmare of a comprehensive Shadow Academy audit calmly, directly, and quickly. I put him in charge of the project and told him to coordinate his work with each department’s respective professor. He took my limited direction and ran with it, proofreading and editing courses one department at a time in conjunction with professors and docents and other volunteers.
To date, Meleu has spearheaded audits of the Departments of CORE Studies, Combat Studies, Lore Studies, and Writing Studies. He coordinated labor-intensive edits and rewrites of the entire CORE Studies Department and major edits of the Combat Tactics courses. Most recently, he has worked closely with the Professor of Writing Studies to mark-up, rewrite, edit, rinse, and repeat the Grammar Studies course, while also revising and editing the other Writing Studies courses as well as those in the Department of Lore Studies.
Aside from his audit duties, Meleu has edited new courses as needed. In particular, he spent a considerable amount of time editing IRC 301: Operator Studies before its release, proofing the full slate of ten brand new history courses, and revising all of the new Leadership courses, particularly Leadership Management.
Meleu is an indispensable part of my team. His initiative and drive keep projects moving along even if other priorities occasionally overtake them. The Shadow Academy catalog is in its best shape in years, largely due to Meleu’s consistent work to make courses more readable and coherent. It’s an on-going, possibly never-ending task, but Meleu has not let the immensity of the job slow him down. Thank you, Meleu, and congratulations!
