Primary reason

The rank of Dark Adept is awarded to the members of our club who have consistently contributed towards its betterment. These members serve in leadership positions, contribute towards projects, and participate in nearly every facet of our club. These actions are often accomplished with little recognition and in many cases they are accomplished with very few people knowing the true impact they have made on the club. Warlord Xen'Mordin Vismorsus-Palpatine is one of these members. He has has served as a leader in this club for many years across multitude of positions. Among those, his work and longevity as the QUA of HSP and Consul of CSP has been extraordinary.

Xen's dedication to his Clan has come in the form of constant mentorship, a steady and stable hand in leadership, and an amazing amount of content creation. Xen, alone, has organized over 80 competitions, co-organized over 30 competitions, and played a part in countless others. In this "content creation" he generated activity not for himself, but for the members of our club.

Outside of Xen's work within his Clan, he has striven to improve our club through a multitude of additional positions. His work on the ACC Beta was paramount to its successful re-launch and improvement. Additionally, Xen has provided invaluable input to the DC and DGM/GM on DB wide projects. His advice almost always results in an improved end product.

At the end of the day, our Elders need to be one thing. That one thing is a steward of our club who strives to improve it and the experience our members have. Xen does this.

Congrats

This. So much this. If there is any current Equite in the Brotherhood that deserves to join the ranks of Elder, it is without a doubt Xen. He is the longest tenured leader in DB History. And that was not time spent idling or skirting by as a sub-unit leader, but as the figurehead and head honcho of an independent House Quaestor for over 4 years, and for the last 7 months, a Consul.

You see, Consul is one of those positions where a lot of things you do don’t get recorded. Sleepless nights, balancing opinions from different parties within your own “team”, mitigating conflicts and putting out fires within while also serving as the representative towards the Dark Council. Xen has embodied this responsability longer than anyone else I have ever seen. He has stuck with his unit through thick and thin, defeat and victory. Under his leadership, the unit is now at its highest mark in 5 years--evidence first by their excellent performance in GJWXI, as well as their spark in active membership since re-Clanning.

Fortunately, Xen has plenty to show for his work in the Brotherhood. He earned both an AK and an SB already, as well as countless other smaller merits that add up towards a laundry list of time-in-service. He’s participating in what I’m told is over 120 competitions, most of which were handled during a 3 year period of perpetual Vendetta and War. Xen stood tall throughout all of it, leading from the front lines and challenging everyone around him to do better and follow his lead. This style came to its climax moment in GJWXI, where CSP was able to make a push to outperform anyones expectations by coming in 3rd place behind Clan Taldryan. It was impressive, and really speaks to Xens abilities as a leader.

I would know, because I competed against him during that time period. As a fellow unit-leader, my respect for Xen has been through the roof for years. He was always willing to hop into a private conversation with me and compare notes about how we were running our respective units. He would share what worked or didn’t work for him, simply because he cared about the rest of the units just as much as he cared for his own. In any of the Dark Council discussions we were both in on, he was quick to respond, not afraid to voice his opinion in a constructive manner, and added positively to each conversation and discussion to the benefit of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

Leadership is the ultimate sacrifice a member of the Brotherhood can make. You are not always thanked, and when something does go wrong it is placed solely on your shoulders. You make decisions with your best instincts based on the data you are provided with while trying to keep the best interest of both the members and club you serve. This has, somehow, not stopped Xen from giving his time, energy, and heart to not just Clan Scholae Palatinae, but to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood as whole.

On top of all this, Xen served with me as an ACC Judge for 7 months. As a fellow Judge, I can tell you in earnest that ACC Judges are some of the hardest working members of the DB. Each match graded takes anywhere from 30-50 minutes and requires a lot of attention to detail. Judges also helped grade Qualification exams and answered questions, both of which Xen was always on top of as a peer on the staff. On top of all that, he has been incredibly active within the Voice Staff since joining the team. He is insightful, helpful, and continues to give his undying effort and energy to the Brotherhood.

For this, and all you’ve done, accomplished, and endured: Congratulations from the bottom of my heart, Xen. You earned this, bro <3.

Consul Emirtus: Clan Arcona Combat Master

--

Thirty months as the leader of Scholae Palatinae, since he was promoted to Sith Warlord. Having seen the Clan through a host of amazing competitions, bringing together a community of new and old friends, and the ever persistent drama that comes with the job. From Clan, to Independent House, and back to Clan again, I had the pleasure of being part of his team for at least some portion of that journey, and I loved every minute of it. I won’t even substantiate anything in this recommendation for promotion to Elder, but I’ll say a few things I know to be true.

Xen has been consistently active for years, without pause, in one of the most important roles in the entire DJB as Consul. The experience he gained in this role, is in itself valuable, but his application of it to a new generator of leaders in Scholae Palatinae while leading by example is where he makes the biggest impact. Creating the template for becoming a Clan, producing a document to create and open 2 new Houses in the Clan, creating a Leadership guide, driving a major plot that ran during the Dark Crusade that ended with a great finale, bringing countless new members to Knighthood, and fostering a great community and sense of team for the Clan that helped it forge an identity that speaks to old members as much as the new, so when they come around again after some time in the Rogues, they come back to something they recognize and can be proud of. It’s an accomplishment I feel is worthy of promotion to Elder given just the volume of work, for so long, with great impact.

To speak to his character, he has dealt with some pretty intense drama as Consul, as many leaders do. He has dealt with cheating, lying, negativity, sensitivity, egos, immaturity, and insecurities among members, and done so while maintaining a solid reputation for the Clan. He is firm, and direct with members about what he expects, and does so in a way that gets the point across without stirring up the rumor mill and gossiping. That is to say, as his Proconsul, I got to experience professionalism at a level I never expected to see in the DJB given what I’ve seen happen. It’s almost hard for members of Scholae Palatinae to realize that problem members are being dealt with because they don’t hear about it, but the results spoke for themselves. It’s a level of professionalism and integrity that I feel already puts Xen at that next level as a member.

Talking about his accomplishments, and his character, are probably about all I really need to do, but know that he’s been an awesome friend, and great supporter of mine for years, and I look forward to many more years of fake Jedi time with him in the future.

I fully support this promotion to the Elder ranks for such a great member. Congratulations Xen, you worked hard and earned this one.

Evant Taelyan Voice of the Brotherhood

--

Having known Xen in one form or another for over a decade, I have seen him grow from a young, eager member to now one of the most seasoned veterans in the club. Others have covered the statistics of his leadership as well as his other positions so I will endeavor to put into words what he has meant to Scholae and myself.

His leadership over Scholae has been a bright spot in my time here. Since I first rejoined the Brotherhood in 2007, I have served under and with some great and interesting leaders: Braecen, Phoenix, Lucien, Thran, Ood... All names that inspire memories both good and bad in those of us who have spent much of careers in the service of the Empire. Of these, I feel that Xen has been the greatest leader of them all.

Now why would I pick him over the others? They all burned out quickly with the exception of Thran (but that is because well.. he was already pretty burnt), but Xen has been able to survive the issues of both Scholae and the Dark Council. Although his length of service is greater, pure time in position is not what has made him the best leader of Scholae. It is his ability to stay the course. While others have hit highs and lows, Xen has stayed focused on making Scholae a place to want to be. Our members love being in Scholae because of this stability and for the atmosphere that allows them to be themselves in our eclectic group.

As the current de-facto head of the Palpatine legacy, I wholeheartedly supply our endorsement upon Xen for his elevation to the Elder ranks.

Congratulations, my friend.
