Primary reason

Although he is often referred to as the comical character in our band of heroes making up the Summit, Mar Sûl is nonetheless one of our hardest-working members to date. In fact, his comical stance on most matters official or not has made him one of our most relatable leaders and is thus easily approachable by our members. This is an endearing trait which we often take for granted, but it is a solid reminder that we are in an online club, with people who come here looking for fun. Without him, I can imagine that most of our long conversations in the Summit would lack the relief that is often required to prevent us from burning out or worse—resentment.

Although, this isn’t to say that Mar Sûl himself doesn’t lead, participate or hold serious conversations with his Summit or members when required. Rather the opposite—he believes in leading from the front lines like all good leaders and to give credit where it is due. In fact, this sportsmanship often leads to him issuing denials about his involvement in the Summit, which isn’t the case. He was the backbone behind Seher since taking up the mantle of Quaestor from Ji, despite his limited experience in the role of Aedile and remains a driving force behind Clan Odan-Urr. Holding several conversations with him over Telegram, emails and IRC has resulted in tens of thousands of long messages exchanged between the two of us shaping ideas for eventual use in Odan-Urr. While a few number of these exist in an official written form, countless more await to be introduced to the fold. His work has resulted in a draft detailing additions to the Seher article and its lore in events that he collects in google documents for collaboration before having the articles posted to the Brotherhood’s wiki. Seher and its several additional expansion articles were all a result of his planning and collaboration alongside others such as Ji and Seridan, who collaborated with him on the main article.

Furthermore, his ideas in revitalizing storytelling in Clan Odan-Urr earned him a Steel Cross for his efforts in meticulously planning and executing House Satele Shan’s latest event, Compass of Reason: Part II: Conflict of Interest along with three competitions for the Distress Signal mini-event, giving members of House Satele Shan and the Disciples of Baas an opportunity to assist a caravan in danger. He’s extended his planning abilities to his members, who he helps regularly with developing unique characters and proofreading their articles. It’s shouldn’t be a surprise that Mar Sûl has also achieved something most Equites haven’t, being a second Scroll of the Master for mentoring a second member, Droveth Kathera Vectivi, to the rank of Jedi Knight. Were this a one-time event, it could have been attributed to drawing the winning name when being assigned a student. Instead, his track record shows that it was his efforts that brought two contributing members through the ranks and introduced them to what the Brotherhood has to offer.

Although these impressive achievements are just the pinnacle of his accomplishments in Clan Odan-Urr, Mar Sûl is one of our most active members. He’s earned an Anetian Cross for participation in no less than 11 competitions in the Eleventh Great Jedi War, earning that same number in Seals of Revelation. He’s participated in events as a regular member would, earning top-ranking Crescents on the Club and Clan-wide scale. Earning Crescents with diamond stars is a feat that takes no small amount of skill, having to compete against some of the heaviest hitters outside of our Clan. He’s done this, and earned himself a larger collection of crescents and awards while participating in the usual events and platforms, having earned no less than 2 Crescents with Diamond Stars, a Crescent with Ruby Star, 2 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 4 Crescents with Emerald Stars, and a Crescent with Topaz Star all while participating in 41 individual competitions. He’s also done a fair bit of gaming—seeming to hold a preference towards cooperative games than competitive ones, earning himself 6 Clusters of Fire and 127 Clusters of Earth. His skill in fiction writing has also equated to 14 Cluster of Ice for his efforts in authoring fictions.

Taken into account, this list of achievements should look complete. However, Mar Sûl is one to exceed expectations and has been one of two members selected to receive a Seal of Loyalty on Exodus Day. This is an indicator that show that Mar Sûl is one of our most prestigious and dedicated individuals to this Clan’s progress. Lastly, expanding from his skill in planning, Mar Sûl has created several documents with some in in wiki format detailing a number of things that will eventually be added to the wiki. Among these are a number of Harakoan tribes, being the Kuku Hawene, Koata and Arataki, and several additions to Seher that include the Bay of Seher, Maw of Seher, Shan Lyceum and the creature known as Whatu-Riu. It is without further delay that I recommend Mar Sûl for a promotion to the rank of Jedi Ranger to reflect all that he has done in this last year for the betterment of Clan Odan-Urr. Congratulations!

Additional reasons

Mar Sul, Cable, Caleb, he goes by many names, he cant make his mind up on if he wants to be a Human, or Geonosian, or whatever. What he can do is lead. When he took over as QUA of House Shan, I raised an eyebrow. Here you had a pretty much untested leader beyond BTL, who was handed the reigns of a new House. I was wrong to be anxious for HSS.

I wont go over the number, but Ill give a complement to his character. Cable leads by example. More often than not, if there is a Clan competition he is doing all the events and offering help to those who are struggling. He is also active in both our mailer and Telegram giving advice that you would normally hear coming from someone who has been in the club much longer than he has, and his energy is almost boundless and he puts everything he is into his House and Clan. His passion for this club is impressive and he is one of those members you can spend just a few moments around and know he is bound for great things in this club.

I am proud of you and welcome you to the mid-Equite ranks my friend. Oh and I think Senpai has noticed you. :P

Mar, or Cable as I call him, is easily one of the most hardworking and devoted people I know. The cruel thing is that not all of his work can be proved via his dossier -- because Cable goes much further than that in his work.

Before I knew him as my Aedile, I’d often hear the name Cable, Caleb or Xaezhul, as he was often mentioned as being an ideal member. When I logged on to IRC for the first time back in February, it was Cable who welcomed me, coining the term 'Seridanian Justice'. It’s this sort of open, fun, chattiness that makes him one of the most prolific people on both the IRC clan channel and the clan group on Telegram. It was really only when I became BTL of the Disciple of Baas after Cable that I became good friends with him, chatting via #cousummit and later, Telegram. We would chat about upcoming events, unis, and even about the best ways to learn to play DOTA2. He is always willing to chat, banter, and insert a somewhat-witty joke into a conversation. In truth, I find this unwavering willingness to talk to his unit members is impressive. He regularly stays up throughout the nights -- usually until past 10 AM, and when someone wants to chat with him, no matter what he's doing, he makes time and talks to them.

Mar has also, through various means, always pushed forward fictionally, striving to make innovative, interesting situations and characters. As Xaezhul, he brought a Geonosian hive to New Tython. He has developed Seher into a thriving, vibrant environment. In the near future, as Mar, he will challenge our light-side philosophy in a kind of Jedi-extremism. Not only has he created awesome ideas, but he has put them into action. A whole slew of wiki pages and report fictions have been authored by Cable, furthering the House's fictional basis, and full of his characteristic wit and fun.

As his Aedile, I’ve had the unique pleasure of working closely with him, and this has contributed to him becoming one of my good friends within the Brotherhood. Mar is currently the longest-standing member of House Satele Shan’s Summit, and has been in every position: BTL, AED and QUA. As BTL of DoB, he would reach out to people via email and IRC, and engage them in a conversation, before trying to recruit them. He also ran an event or two as their BTL, one competition of which was co-organised by a unit member, as a method of developing future leaders. His real prowess started to show, however, when he became Aedile, under Solari. To begin with, he would reach out to journeymen and aid them in getting promoted, developing as a member, and finding a Master when they were a high enough rank. He reached out to the BTLs, myself and JScumm, to organise us and to create a cohesive storyline, with Solari’s overview. When I proposed a storyline for the Disciples, Mar replied quickly, attaching a conversation that he and Alora had had over IRC -- which gave me constructive advice, new ideas, and an encouragement to increase the scale of it, if I saw fit. As Solari became busier, Cable seamlessly filled in the gaps, not only writing one of Solari’s report fictions as a way to further Seher’s fiction, but also reviewing activity -- on top of everything else at the same time.

When he became Quaestor, and I his Aedile, he began focus on getting some of his ideas official. He started drafting wiki pages, some of which he’d started when he was Aedile. He continued to reach out to our Journeymen, supporting them in their rise to Knighthood. He kept on top of his members’ activity, awarding when necessary. He also kept a hold on the Battleteams -- he remains in close contact with both Aisha and Jafits, continuing to plot out the House’s future with their help.

I talk about these aspects of him because these are things that aren't overtly shown in his dossier. He has the sort of attitude and work ethic that will drive Satele Shan, and Odan Urr forward indefinitely, never faltering. Not only is he a vibrant, brilliant member of our Clan, but he is a gorram good leader of it. Cable, you’ve deserved this promo -- congrats, man!

Mar has been a source of stability for House Satele Shan and Clan Odan-Urr, which is a contribution worth highlighting in and of itself. Others have covered his accomplishments as a summit member, his activity, and touched on his upbeat attitude; I will try to highlight his contribution to the morale and stability of the Clan itself.

During his entire tenue as a Equite 1, Mar has been a member of the Odan-Urr summit, rising from Battleteam Leader to Aedile and finally Quaestor during a period of immense change in the Clan. House Odan-Urr became Clan Odan-Urr and he stepped into leadership of one of two brand new Houses created from that change. When we needed him, he stepped up, as real life claimed House Shan's initial leaders. Mar was always there, a constant, ressuring presence, his dedication never waivering. No matter who you are, no matter how bad a day you've had or what's going on around you, Mar can (and will) bring a smile to your face. As others have pointed out, that contribution is immense and doesn't leap off a dossier report. To call Mar a pillar of our community would be an understatement. He engaged every single person from returning vet to brand new join and made you feel welcome. That is the very lifeblood of this club.

I know that constantly serving as a beacon of light and levity to others must be tiring at times, everyone has bad days. I've never seen Mar let negativity bleed through. He helps make Odan-Urr the bright and welcoming place it is and for that we thank him. He is a leader in the truest since of the word and more than deserving of elevation within the Equite ranks.

Stability, loyalty and reliance.

I've come to know Mar Sul by these words ever since he joined the Odan-Urr Summit. He has been, and still is, one of the most loyal and active members in the Clan, and while his duties as a leader have taken over his time, he still keeps a very active role in participating and encouraging participation in events big and small.

I've come to find he is always stable in the worst situations and never have I seen him start a heated argument. He is always level-headed and talks in an argumentative and practical way about anything from member recruitment and retention to Clan projects. While he does have his quirks and dents, he spreads this stability to the rest of the Summit (myself included, though I'm far away from their projects now) and keeps them (and me) focused on what's really important.

I have always relied on Mar to give me advice from a leader's, as well as member's perspective. His primary concern have always been the members of the Clan and how to bring about even more content for their enjoyment, and by extension his own. His work on House Satele Shan's lore and the events he has organized only strengthen this fact.

Even now when I am far removed from my Clan, Mar keeps communication with me high, always asking how I'm doing and if he can offer help - even if it is only moral support and a friendly chat from time to time. Truly he is a friend and a comrade anyone would want by their side and having him in our Clan is a blessing.

Be your quirky, funny, genius self forever, Cable. And congrats on the promotion. You've earned it.
