Primary reason

I may be biased, as I served as House (and later Clan) Rollmaster before my elevation to Proconsul and then Consul, but I’m not sure there’s a more important Clan-level leadership position than Rollmaster. The lifeblood of any Clan is its Journeymen, and so it stands to reason that the person in charge of ensuring their welfare has a vital task to fulfil; Frosty has ably served as Tarentum’s Rollmaster for the past nine months and never once has he faltered in his duties.

Frosty was last promoted in 2006 - close to ten years ago. As you would suppose for such a long tenure, he’s amassed a huge amount of medals and dossier candy - three Grand Crosses, five Steel Crosses, two Dark Crosses, five Silver Novae, five Bronze Novae, and a staggering amount of Crescents and Clusters. He’s also run, co-organized, and participated in countless competitions and taken a number of Shadow Academy courses. But, of course, a promotion to the fourth and final level of the Equites is not measured on the medals but on service, especially to Clan and Brotherhood. With that in mind, he’s served in various House, Clan, and DJB-wide leadership positions: 11 months total as a Quaestor, five months total as an Aedile, and 10 months total as an Eclectic Pedagogue (things have changed a bit over the last decade). It is here that his total tenure as Rollmaster - 13 months between two stints - is particularly important to note.

Tarentum’s Rollmaster is not some glorified paper-pusher, but a vital and trusted member of the Clan Summit; the Clan’s success over the past year has been due in no small part to Frosty’s capabilities as Rollmaster, have no doubt about it. Beyond his importance in the work of our Journeymen, which cannot be overstated, Frosty has and will continue to serve as an advisor, confidante, and sounding board to both Beef and I. Our success as a Clan will only be possible if it is built upon a strong foundation of active and engaged Journeymen, and Frosty has shown that to be his area of expertise.

I consider myself lucky to count Frosty as not only a member of our Clan’s Summit but also as a friend. It’s for all of the reasons I’ve recounted above that I am proud to recommend Frosty Romanae Tarentae for elevation to the final rank of the Equites, a promotion that was truly a long time coming. Congratulations!

Additional reasons

Frosty is more than deserving of advancing up the ranks. 9 years is a long time without a promotion. He's been outstanding as Roll Master. And still continues to keep engaged in gaming and a strong presence on Telegram. I've known Frosty from day one of joining the Dark Brotherhood and Tarentum. He has been one of my greatest allies and greatest rivals within the clan whom I'm proud to call friend.

In the last six months, no less than 20 new joins have come through Tarentum. Now, while not all of them have remained, every single one has received a welcome from Frosty. Each received his heartfelt invitation to be a part of all that we do. For those who stay, however, Frosty provides regular emails to give them an update on how they can progress and move towards their Knighthood.

Beyond that, Frosty takes point on ensuring that those of Knight and below are properly rewarded, and tracking their activity and communication for us. He sincerely stays on top of these people, and works on a daily basis to get them involved in Tarentum. Additionally, he acts as another voice when Farrin and I are working to reward our Equites and Elders, giving his own insight as to what he believes to be a proper reward. In this, Frosty is really coming into his own as far as the future leader of Tarentum.

Beyond what he does to supplement us, and in guiding the training of our newer members, Frosty also remains an active gamer within the Clan. Since his last Merit award in , Frosty has gained 116 CFs, 166 CEs, 7 PoBs, and 1 Ruby Crescent. He's Rank X in the GMRG, has over 3,300 Clusters of Earth and Fire total in his career, and has played most every game the Brotherhood has had for the 12+ years he's been here. Frosty is an active leader by example, and he shows us the way towards excellence.

It's been about nine years since Frosty was last elevated in rank, and he's been doing an amazing job as our Rollmaster since May 27, 2015. Frosty has over eight months in this position that has been so vital to us. Tarentum was certainly at the gates of closure. I think we can all admit, we had become stagnant, and were not as respectful of our situation and coming into the modern era as we ought to have been. Frosty has had a huge hand in changing that.

As one of our greatest leaders, and most certainly a future Consul of Tarentum, I believe it is fitting and appropriate that we now elevate Frosty to the rank of Warlord, and put him on the steps towards the Elder ranks. He is deserving of our respect and admiration as a Clan, and the honors this Brotherhood can place upon him.

Congratulations, Frosty. Keep up the good work, my friend.
