Primary reason

It's time to recognise a key member of the CNS Summit and I'm pleased to be able to write this rec for Jurdan.

Since his last promotion back in August 2016, Jurdan has served 7 months as Battleteam Leader of Shadow Guard in Scholae Palatinae, before coming to us in Naga Sadow to serve as Aedile of House Shar Dakhan.

His time spent in the position has seen him run a Clan event, provide reports, support and encourage members to participate in competitions and the recent Great Jedi War. Jurdan has organised 12 competitions, while also co-organising a further 6. Added to that, Jurdan has participated in a total of 203 competitions and placing in 45 of them!

Jurdan has received a variety of crescents, and has also kicked butt in gaming, earning 1756 Clusters of Fire, 709 Clusters of Earth and 2 Pendants of Blood, having competed in 179 PVP matches and 171 PVE matches.

He has also earned 70 Clusters of Graphite and 48 Clusters of Ice, while writing almost 18,000 words across fictions and ROs.

Jurdan led from the front during the 12th GJW, completing 27 out of 28 competitions, being unable to compete in ACC Phase 2. He encouraged his fellow Clanmates to compete and teamed up with several of them to get entries into the team events.

For his service as a leader, Jurdan has earned a Grand Cross and 2 Steel Crosses.

Add to this the 3 courses he's completed in the Shadow Academy, the 1 Legion of Scholar and the 1 Scroll of the Master for mentoring Reiyden Rosenau to the rank of Knight and you can see a picture of why Jurdan deserves the rank of Battlelord.

His dedication to his job, his eagerness to get people to play games with him and the constant attempts to get people to participate and enjoy their time in Naga Sadow have seen Jurdan become a valuable member of my Summit.

Jurdan came to us under a cloud of controversy. He has since dispelled that and has shown why Aexod made the right decision in hiring him. I can rely on Jurdan to get the job done when given to him and has shown great improvement in his team play and sense of fair play. Jurdan has become an example of what one can do when they take the chances given to them to the max.

Congratulations on your promotion to Battlelord, Jurdan.

Additional reasons

Much has been said about Jurdan's qualifications for elevation to EQ3, which he clearly has in spades, but I want to focus on one in particular.

When it comes to the Brotherhood and his duties as Aedile, Jurdan is selfless. He works tirelessly and with a great deal of initiative to make sure he does everything he can to succeed in his role as my Aedile. I could not ask for a better second in command, and I would be remiss to acknowledge that if I've done anything right as Quaestor so far, it's at least in part because I have Jurdan beside me.

To get into some specifics, because why not, Jurdan has been crucial in helping to implement my vision for the Disciples of Dakhan. In fact, we began discussing it while we were both candidates for the position I ultimately won (though the reverse would have been great too). He has provided thoughtful feedback and put in significant effort in the generation of the framework that has become the current Disciples of Dakhan. This will, I hope, become the primary legacy that I leave behind from my tenure as Quaestor, but I would be lying if I said that I did not get any help from my fantastic Aedile.

To my mind, EQ3 is the level at which the rank extends beyond the accomplishments of the member themself, and instead reflects more the position that the member plays in the Brotherhood at large. Jurdan has been and continues to consistently display the qualities of an ideal member of Naga Sadow and the Brotherhood, and I would gladly serve under this outstanding member at any time should (when) he eventually rises to great positions. He has been the very definition of a role model to everyone in the House and Clan.

Congratulations, Jurdan.

Aul Celsus, 2017-12-16 05:37:03 UTC

In the time since he has come to Clan Naga Sadow, Jurdan has worked hard to dispel any misgivings that people may have had when he first joined our number. In the time he has served as an Aedile in particular, he has proven his worth as a leader with his helpful attitudes, running a number of gaming competitions and continued to cheer on his fellows. Working personally beside him in the War, I cannot help but admire the effort and thought that he puts into all the things he does for Clan and Brotherhood. Working with Aul, he has also hosted events like the Pirates of Aeotheran, which saw about a quarter of our Clan take part. More recently, his drive to get as many events as possible done, and with the number of discussions we held about our team War entries, I have come to realize one big thing.

Jurdan has a heart for his people. He enjoys what he does, but he does not seem as focused on his own success. Now, he does have like a- what- 20 to 22% participation to shiny average which is nothing to shake a stick at, but his core focus is on taking part and encouraging others. Which, if you ask me, is good stuff. The man has a leader's heart, and I look forward to seeing what else he gets up to in the coming months. I am glad to add my voice in recommending that Jurdan Krennel be lifted to the ranks of the 3rd grade Equites.

I will be watching his progress with great interests. Congratulations, Battlelord!

Jurdan Krennel has been an extremely influential member to his peers, myself included. As mentioned by others, the Pirates of Aeotheran competitions were a big success and a clan favourite. In terms of gaming, he is always inviting members to play across a variety of platforms and possesses a vast wealth of knowledge on the subject. In terms of fiction writing, he has been an excellent mentor. Most recently I witnessed him in action during the GJW run-on. He was available every single day, keeping realism in check and offering fresh ideas to the group.

As a mentor Jurdan has proven to be a great asset to those interested in future leadership opportunities as well. Without his encouragement and confidence in me I’m not sure if I would have taken the role as battleleader to the Disciples of Dakhan. Since accepting the position he has had to endure a great number of questions and I greatly value all the feedback he provided to me and the other “newbies” since joining the DJB.

Congratulations on your well deserved promotion Jurdan!
