Primary reason

For the past two years, Revak has worked ceaselessly to sustain and build COU's thriving community. He's the latest in a line of confident COU CONs, and he took to it naturally. He has been a competition beast, running over 100 comps and participating in nearly 300. He's earned hundreds of crescents and clusters and led from the front in the last two vendettas, completing nearly even event. Since his last promotion, he has earned two SBs and a Ruby Scepter.

I am happy to add him to the ranks of the Elders. Congratulations, Revak!

Additional reasons

Revak's efforts to help Odan-Urr and keep it running over the past several years have been nothing short of monolithic in nature. The very fact I can cite that he's organized ninety-four competitions since his promotion two years ago is proof enough of that, as proven by his multitude of awards. Having earned a Ruby Scepter, two Sapphire Blades, and a Grand Cross is no small feat by any measurement, but it's just the start of all he has done. Even after having arranged the better part of a hundred of his own competitions, he still found the time to also raise Bexa Nalrella to the rank of Knight, and participate in over three hundred competitions, winning placements in more than sixty of them. Then, as if all of this was not enough, he has to his name since his last promotion one hundred and seventy-six Clusters of Graphite, ninety-six Clusters of Ice, and one hundred and seventy-six Clusters of Fire, and an outstanding five hundred and seventeen Clusters of Earth.

Yet to boil down Revak's efforts to just a series of numbers would be a disservice to him. While this undeniably plays a part, it's his qualities as a leader that stand out the most here. There's never a moment where he lacks a clear vision of what to do next or even basic ideas on how to keep things organized and the Clan moving. Be that just nudging Quaestors with basic reminders on what to get on with or throwing out ideas for us to question, he's willing to both offer the Odan-Urr a clear way ahead but gives every opportunity to improve, criticize, or even just clarify what we'll be doing next. He doesn't simply want blind obedience, nor does he promote his subordinates based on how often they can say "yes, sir!", internal politics, or even how much they'll enjoy having a position of authority over others. Instead, he selects people on how well they will help Clan Odan-Urr, improving both our community and their own skills at the same time.

Clan Odan-Urr and the Brotherhood are both fortunate to have Revak as a member. For this reason, I am very happy to second his promotion to the first grade of Elder.

Revak is good at what he does; which is providing new content for his members, keeping them active and engaged, and ensuring his clan is thriving. Under his watch, Odan-Urr joined the Pro-Bowl - basically the largest non-vendetta event around - ensuring his members got to participate with the members of five other clans. He's active in both club-wide and Odan-Urr settings, maintains a positive relationship with basically every member he comes across, and is a proponent of the club coming together and putting past differences aside. Since he took over as Consul he's embodied what an Elder should be - someone who supports the club at large, and puts in the work to ensure not just his own clan, but the whole community, is strong while maintaining his own activity levels. Revak without a doubt deserves this promotion.

Congratulations.

Revak K’Urr has been a stable bedrock for Odan-Urr for almost 4 years now. I vividly recall a newly-minted Sunrider member sending me a very well-down competition entry for a new fictional group and having a lot of ideas to share about how to improve the Clan. I remember thinking “wow, I have to get him into leadership”. Not long after while he was chilling on a boat, I managed to snag him as Quaestor of Sunrider. He proved himself a dependable, responsible, and capable unit leader and quickly proved himself a worthy Proconsul and finally successor to the position of Consul of Odan-Urr. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

Revak K’Urr spearheaded the Sunrider initiative, whose goal was simply to concentrate activity and community within the Clan in order to regain old activity levels and eventually surpass them. He threw himself into his work and excelled at it. He was one of my main community event organizers, took initiative in creating the Odan-Urr assessment guide to instruct younger leaders in awarding shinies, mentored younger members, and was incredibly active. He was the poster child of ‘leading from the front’. And he successfully ran a multi-chapter storyline called Vatali Unsettled, which as the sole leader of our sole House at the time drove Clan fiction considerably. He was critical to the success of the experiment known as House Sunrider and it would not have been successful without him. His actions are detailed more in this AK recc and this promotion recc. Thank you for everything you did for Sunrider.

Next, Revak K’Urr willingly agreed to help run Odan-Urr as my deputy. He was ever-present and willing to help wherever he was needed. His highlights include capping off a year of house lore development, maintaining excellent activity levels, helping me run a Clan so smoothly it was as if he could read my mind, made sure I got my clan reports out in time :P, resolved those thorny member disputes that aren’t very fun to deal with, and of course helping me grade all those Scimitar of Hoth competitions (which are very time-consuming), and mentoring younger members. In addition to his regular duties, he engaged and completed Survival Guides, Odan-Urr Novice Guide’s to our Fiction, the overhaul of our incident reporting system, was a main community event organizer, and was my right-hand man executing Odan-Urr’s clan vs clan feud (last one was 5 years prior to this one). In short, he did everything you wanted from a Proconsul and far far more. He was a pillar of our community and he helped Odan-Urr rise to its new fictional identify. It took a lot of hard work and sometimes what felt like a never-ending grind but he never gave up or surrendered. I’m very proud of his Proconsul work. His actions are detailed more in this AK recc and this promo recc.

Lastly, I will remark on his efforts as Consul. He staked a vision for the Clan and to this day follows through with it. He has been a steady and consistent hand as Consul and his rock-solid work ethic is no less than exemplary. He got the pleasure of leading Odan-Urr into the newly supported roleplay system. Additionally, it pleased me to see that he continued community building to create a space in the club for our members to have the most fun. As his Proconsul, it's been my pleasure to support and execute his vision for the Clan. He sacrifices his time for the club every day and Odan-Urr would not be the same without it. Thank you for being a great member and friend to Odan-Urr and me. His actions are detailed more in his SB recc, RS recc, and another SB recc.

In closing, Odan-Urr would not be where it is today without Revak K’Urr. When I needed someone to put in the work and execute my vision for House Sunrider, he stepped forward. When I needed someone to help run the Clan as deputy, he stepped forward. When I needed to pass the torch onto another Consul to lead us forward, he stepped forward. Back then and still today we face a shortage of reliable, dependable, and responsible leaders; and more importantly those who are willing to carve time out of their day to make it happen. Revak K’Urr always stepped forward when Odan-Urr needed him to and for that, I will be eternally grateful. He has long proven to have the stuffing of an Elder and I am so very proud of him and everything he has accomplished. I promised myself not to cry but I still remember that upstart Quaestor back in 2019 and the Proconsul who drew each of our member's stick figures for the holiday card. Congratulations old man and welcome to the ranks of Elder.

(P.S. I saved you a good seat next to the cold beverages where we can look back on the memories. There is even a bowl of small hard candies shaped like shuttles to chuck at youngsters.)
