Primary reason

Arch does things he doesn't have to do as HM. He builds spreadsheets no asked for just so he can whip them out in a DC debate, but he also takes it upon himself to prepare quarterly stats reports for the club as a whole and for each of the seven clans. Much of that work is now automated, but he doesn't just spit the sheets out and leave CONs to decipher them, he also provides succinct analysis and recommendations. The CONs find them useful; I find them useful. And it isn't in his job description.

What is in his job description is working to improve the SA, to make it more useful to new and old members alike and to keep it updated. That alone is a ton of work and not particularly glamorous, and he's put in the effort with his staff to get it done. He rewrote most of the Essentials courses, helped get the new Recognizing Members course out to address XP's changes to medals and promotions, and has several other major projects in the works. At the same time he has streamlined the unwieldy SA staff and put together two of the best GJW comps ever, hands down.

Like most of the current DC, Arch is also a regular (and vocal) contributor to discussions. He's wrong a lot but he keeps showing up for more. Congrats, Arch!

Additional reasons

Well, well, well...who let the bird in?

This guy is probably my favourite member to get yelled at by, Howie aside, and that's saying something all on its own. Do I even need a rec beyond that? Hm, I suppose so.

Arch serves many functions, some of which include but may not be limited to: sounding board, he who calls out BS, idea's guy, and meme-ster. What I've always appreciated about Arch is that he'll never be the yes man in the room. He'll, instead, be the first to cry foul and tell you exactly how it goes. Then that's followed by a lot of hard data that even I wouldn't gather just to prove a point. Well played.

But that's just what goes on behind the scenes. What ends up before the members is a complete focus on the experience. With the Shadow Academy, that shows itself as a long-term redesign with a focus on ease of completion. But also being informative. Everyone should be able to go through the basic courses and be able to utilize the base functions of our club, or at least that's the goal. One Arch is continually hitting. Then came a fresh approach to what had become a sort of automated approach to GJW trivia competitions. It offered a mix between competitive and easy participation. I, for one, loved it. But I also embrace chaos, so what do I know?

I'm so very glad to talk you up once again in a recommendation, and I offer my sincere congratulations.
