Primary reason

"Ascendant," the Grand Master said slowly and carefully, "what does thou desire of the dark side?"
"Mastery," Halcyon replied.

I apologise on Jac's behalf that he isn't the one making this announcement but time caught up with him before he had a chance to put everything together. That said, on behalf of the Grand Master I would like to invite everyone to pay tribute to one of the great members of the Brotherhood today, Halcyon Rokir Arconae.

Normally it would be necessary for a long list of reasons and accomplishments but today I feel is rather unique given how hard it would be to put into words all the things Halcyon has done over the past two years. Since his elevation to Dark Adept a little over two years ago Halcyon has served in a long succession of positions, starting out again at BTL, then onto AED, QUA, PCON and finally CON, as well as P:CM and later DCM, more recently he has also taken up a position on the CoJ as RHoJ. Halc's line of work has seen him interact with nearly everyone in the DB, something like long list of recommendations recieved on his behalf are evidence thereof.

It is rare for someone not on the Dark Council to come so far, it is rarer still for someone who has never been on the council to manage it, but Halcyon has done both. He is living, walking proof that anything is possible in this club if you set your mind to it and it is therefore a great privilege to be able to elevate him today to the full status of Dark Jedi Master.

The full, though by no means complete (hopefully Jac will update it when he returns) list of recommendations can be found here.

Congratulations, Master Rokir, may you continue to serve your clan proud.

His Eminence
Dark Jedi Master Xanos Zorrixor
Deputy Grand Master of the Brotherhood

Halc is... well, Halc. I honestly don't know where we'd be without him. You might not always notice him on IRC, but he does a hell of a lot for Arcona. His mail turnaround time is mere minutes, most of the time. He knows everything that has to be done, and he actually does it. All the time. The best thing about him, though, is that he makes everything look so effortless. I know he spends a lot of time on the DB, yet that never appears to bother him in any way. Never complaining about his workload (which is a lot), never really angry or irritated, he's a beacon of peace and quiet in a tumultuous Clan. And that's what makes him so good.
He also just won't go away. And I mean this in the best way possible.
He'sbeen involved in the Arcona leadership for as long as I can remember, and I've been here a while. It's also been over two years since his last promotion, and for his exemplary work and tremendous dedication, I think it's only fitting that he gets a promotion to Dark Jedi Master. Congratulations, my friend. :)
~ KPN Strategos T. Entar
Proconsul of Clan Arcona

From the very first day I joined Clan Arcona, I have known that Halc is the never failing support on which Arcona rests. He is the one that you can run to if you feel you've been ripped off by someone, maltreated by a fellow member or misled by some trivial thing in the ACC.

Halc is the ultimate in what I think a leader should be. He has enough compassion so that you feel comfortable with telling him your darkest secrets, but also enough authority that you know to not mess with him. Not many people pull that off successfully. He again managed to end a spat between members with one or two soft words, where others try and fail, he succeeds.

The feud that he planned with Duga just again proved to me how much he does care. We always knew exactly how things were going, what was going to happen next and what we have to do. The amount of effort he put into that feud, organising it, keeping us updated and happy, was incredible.

I look at him and I sincerely wish that if I ever have the opportunity to be a leader, that I will have the same honesty, integrity and compassion he has.

His diligent, hard work as CON of Arcona makes him more than deserving of this promotion
~ JH Selene
House Galeres

It is at this point, in the career of a member of the Brotherhood, that it becomes difficult to write a recommendation. Many of the things that are worthy of recognition are catalogued in the testimonies of the awards that have been granted over time…and at this point, that's what it's partly about; time. For quite a while now I have had the privilege of working with DA Halcyon Arconae and he has earned his fair share of merit due to his performance – and now, it is my honor to be apart of the next stage of his career.

It is only under specific circumstances that we are lucky enough to get a glimpse of the 'people' behind the Brotherhood's membership, often having to resort simply to the presence they allow – but Halc is one of the few, different ones. Yes, we are a brand of Dark Jedi – as characters; yes, our character's are opportunists of the 'less than cordial' sort on many occasions – which is what makes seeing 'behind' those character's more rare, even 'special' if I may be so bold as to break from my professionalism, for a moment.

His time as DCM has shown me much of his actual persona – rather, what I have come to interpret as such; from his willingness to mentor the INI's to his coaxing and direction of the staff, but nothing compares to the admiration he holds for his Clan. The Di Tenebrous Arconae is nothing short of an inspirational, determined and compassionate leader of his Clan. Never have I seen a member so outwardly affectionate of his Clan's success, beyond simply being the 'named individual' who will guide it, as is so often the case. He has taken the burden of failure along with the praise as it's Consul (on all occasions seated) and even as a part of its general population, AED or QUA. But these are not the things worthy of this recommendation, for they have been awarded. Emerald Dagger, Grand Crosses, Stars of Antei and the like are all splendid in their own right – but, again, this is so much more.

At the higher levels of the Brotherhood an individual is expected to possess a certain level of ability, specialized or not, concerning the ways of the club and how to interact with it's members, new and old. Reaching the first level of the Elders is almost as pivotal as that first step into a Knight's boots, a monumental change in how one is viewed and even how they see themselves, but any similarity to the rest of the membership ends there. Beyond Adept, there are no awards to win; competitions to run; a frequencies of reporting to maintain; or any of the other 'requirements' that tend to structuralize the steps of elevation. The ED is recommended and has seemed to play a role in the next rung of the ladder – but that can be attained by maintaining the drive one has already possessed and exemplified by reaching Elder status in the first place. Hence, moving on from there is not done or attained by accomplishment alone – rather, by staying the course; running the race; fighting the fight for the good of the Brotherhood and it's members.

I am no more capable of saying who has the right to possess such an honor than an APP fresh from the Academy, but there is an air of comparison that must occur when recommending an individual for this elevation of stature. The most sufficient way is to levy the individual against their peers and their potential peers. How does Halcyon measure up to the Elders, beyond the 'game play' aspect of this club? Does he offer his services; does he mind his actions, knowing that they can influence newer members; is he a voice of reason in an environment when opinion can flare the most fragile moods? All of these things can be asked and compared of his peers and all of them can be answered in the affirmative. Delving further; is he pivotal to the outcomes of the careers of the members; is he a mentor as well as a hand of justice and impartiality; does he personify the truer RL elements of this club where nurturing, fun and creation of the environment are concerned? Again, all of these can be answered in the affirmative in the case of Halcyon Arconae. All of that aside, and answered obviously if one only has a glimpse of the Arconae, there is one question that must be answered: Does the individual in question bring honor to this club? That is; does his presence here tarnish the outward vision of the club, or, is he a staple of what it has become and what it is striving to be, in a positive manner? Unless you live under a rock – there is only one answer to the latter part of that question, in regard to DA Halcyon Arconae. He IS a staple of the Dark Brotherhood; he IS, like many of his peers, the personification of the 'dreams' of this club, in all of the aspects of his presence. He has stayed the course, fought the fight and driven himself to ensure the RL integrity of the Brotherhood as well as it's fictional existence.

As I have attempted to portray, the next steps in this point of Halcyon's career don't have much to do with the "game" of the club. Instead, they are paralleled more toward the 'real life' intentions, actions and perceptions which "translate" into the club's existence. These are the ideals lost on the newer members because it is still a "game" to them; which is how it should be. The upper echelon's of this club are willingly attuned to the fact that the 'game' is over in some respects, knowing that there's real work afoot, real effort involved and a real 'image' to ensure that the club maintains – these are the things that many don't see. I easily put Halcyon into the same class as Pyralis, Kaiann, Xanos, Sarin etc. and the rest of the higher tier of this club. These are the individuals that cannot be forgotten and are almost synonymous with the mere mention of The Dark Brotherhood – they are it's "soul" if the younger members are it's "body". It is with that idea and the notion that DA Halcyon has, indeed, proven himself beyond all aspects, that I whole heartedly offer my recommendation for his elevation to Dark Jedi Master.
~ DA Dalthid
Combat Master of the Brotherhood

Where do I start to write about this one called Halcyon? I could tell you how much he cares for the Clan, how great an asset he is to the DB in general, or even tell you how much work he puts into the ACC.

Well, I guess I could tell you everything he has done fore the DB, but that wouldnt be any good because that will be in everyone's speech anyway. What I can say about him from my own personal point of view is something that can be held dear more than telling you the stuff he probably knows best of all.

Halc is to me, as is for others, a rolemodel. He has been and still is a great responcible leader within Arcona. And it amazes me simply on how he keeps his wits and cool when people bash on him, and how he makes the right judgement against the wishes of the people. This shows strength and determination. And I can say those treats are something I would wish to have someday.

As a Quaestor, I know how hard being a leader can be, but I do realise that it is a long road before you become one. I respect that in Halcyon. He had helped me without complaining when things were rough, even kept his faith in me when everything tumbled down. It is something I am very thankful for.

Halcyon, if anyone deserves this, it is you. Congratulations my friend and my leader
~ Draken-Korin Vasarius Romanae
Quaestor of Oriens Obscurum

What can I say about Halcyon? After working with him in the recent Feud between Clan Taldryan and Clan Arcona I can say he is a excellent leader and wonderful person to work with. I've never worked with Halc besides here, but I have seen his work in Arcona recently and before when he was Consul. I've seen him do great in the ACC with his position there. Halc is just a great person to have around that can do whatever is needed to help out, especially with his Clan. He has common sense, grace, mercy, and loyalty. I think rewarding him for his hard work over the last couple of years is the least we can do.
Congratulations my friend.
~ OE Duga Arkarso
Consul of Clan Taldryan

Well what can be said about Halcyon? Well from the day I started the Brotherhood, Halc was very pleasant, helpful and inspirational towards me. I really got to know Halc while doing a co-op acc clan thing, and well from that point I have gone on to being a firm supporter of Halc, even serving as a Aedile to his house, and then under his clan leadership. Halc has a way with diffusing a situation and making sense of dumb mistakes, hes a hell of a leader, and a nice guy. I can say on several occasions he has been a big help, when I need a question answered or had a issue that needed dealt with. Halc I consider a friend, and will always do so. Hes a outstanding member of the brotherhood, serving as a Hand of Justice, DCM in the ACC, and a clan summit. What else can we say that Halc hasn't done here yet? Hes in need of a good award, or promotion and this is the right choice. Hes also a aspiring gamer, that we need to work on. But Cheers to Halc hes a damn nice guy.....and a asset to this club!!!!
~ SBM Ma`ar-Tyrius Bruth'Kothae Ga-Tir
Tribune (Gaming) of the Brotherhood
