Primary reason

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Socorra. Otherwise known as Superwoman. I know, I know… what a terribly informal, unprofessional way to start a recommendation, but I feel it’s the only way I can truly put into words what everyone on the summit thinks of her without sounding as if I’m reading a eulogy at a funeral. This woman is simply sublime. Ever since she raced onto the scene just prior to the Tenth Great Jedi War, she has been a veritable bastion of activity. Not only has she brought a new meaning to the word ‘activity’, but she has shot up the rungs of the leadership ladder quicker than any member in the history of Arcona. She is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people on the summit, and her soft touch and caring demeanour have been invaluable on the summit, and her quiet determination has driven her to success time and time again without want for reward or recognition. She only wants what’s best for the clan. That to me speaks of a future Dark Councillor, and I am honoured, privileged and humbled to have her as a member of my summit.

Her track record (which I will cover is a great amount of detail below) speaks for itself, and I honestly feel ashamed that its been left this long to award her for her stellar efforts and dedication to the clan. The following promotion recommendation has been long overdue, and I hope that the extensive narrative of her efforts that follows will go some way to exemplifying her unfaltering dedication to the Brotherhood, and demonstrate absolutely and unfalteringly her deservedness for promotion to the rank of Krath Archpriest.

Since her last promotion in April 2012, Socorra has been a stellar example of activity both as a member and, importantly, as a leader. During her time as Aedile of House Qel-Droma (between April and June 2012) Socorra hit the ground running. Thrust into leadership and left to stand on her own two feet, Socorra quickly adapted, taking control of the House when Invictus took an impromptu semi-LoA due to a new job change and real life circumstances. This left her to pick up the pieces. With the help of the upper summit and the Galerean summit she soon found her stride. She quickly delivered a number of reports in order to keep the house updated whilst Invictus was away, and set to work on reconstructing Qel-Droma. In some ways she did this fictionally. An example of that is through her supervision of Graus’ extensive Qel-Droma wiki update. However, the main point was through her being an intermediary. She was the link between the upper summit, the house summit and the membership. A link Qel-Droma did not previously have. She was visible, productive and approachable leader, and the membership warmed to her quickly. She offered her services in as many was as she could, helping members with their Wikipedia pages, proof-reading ACC posts and fictions, and guiding members with queries about the ACC Character Sheets. She popped out a number of competitions over this period (and I do believe it was at this point that Image Caption #1 began – the big hit that later swept across the Brotherhood) whilst trying to sculpt Qel-Droma into hers and Invictus’ vision.

Indeed, when Ninj went on an LoA/left the position of BTL, Socorra stepped up and carried the battleteam until they could find a replacement. She was, for all intents and purposes, a machine. She worked tirelessly to ensure the house kept ticking over. Oiling the gears was second nature to her, and she was fantastic at juggling a number of potentially catastrophic issues (need I remind you that, at this point, she was acting Quaestor, Aedile and then BTL, all whilst participating herself) with remarkable ease. At the same time she was mentoring Scelestus toward leadership, even though she had only been in the position just over a month. She was an extremely quick developer. And even that’s an understatement.

Toward the end of her tenure as Aedile, she aided Dash, Wally and I with the running of Operation: Rolling Thunder – a Clan-wide event that resulted in yet another record-breaking participation turnout by Arcona. A major reason for such a high turnout was that, whilst it was a fantastically orchestrated Operation (and I attribute that to her, Dash and Wally’s fantastic contributions to the overall development of the Operation), her efforts in drumming up activity for the event, by emailing the house daily, and by tasking the HQD Summit to email every HQD member regarding ORT, were second to none. She even went as far as to work with Shadow Gate in order to construct a Run-On so that they were able to participate. Then, when it was all over, she stepped up to the plate, helping Dash manually tally up the scores and win/loss ratios of every ORT battle in the ACC. Now, I’ve just written 500 words on her efforts as AEDILE. We haven’t even reached Quaestor yet. This exemplifies the sheer volume of achievements she has racked up since her last promotion.

Since she became Quaestor, Socorra has done a whole lot more. Along with all the standard spiel you expect from any leader (writing recommendations, attending summit meetings, running competitions, regular reports etc.), Socorra set a new standard for what is to be expected from any leader in the Brotherhood. I know for a fact that some of the Dark Council members don’t work half as hard as she does. Since stepping up to Quaestor she has gone above and beyond to help all the members of the house, as well as develop the house both fictionally, and as a unit of the Brotherhood. On the personal level, she has done a number of things to help the Arconan membership: she has aided Graus in his rewrite of Port Ol’Val for his summit task for promotion to Dark Jedi Knight, and also proofed his fiction for promotion, proofed Maaks’ Dark Sage final fiction (which was ludicrously extensive), and assisted Archer, Andrelious and even Sang with their competition proposals. And this is just a short list (the ones which were short enough to include so that I wasn’t writing another Dissertation) in order to demonstrate her willingness to go beyond her role as Quaestor in order to help Arconan members develop. Indeed, during the Vendetta, the CHL ladder, the Arcona Family Feud, Operation Rolling Thunder, along with just general proofing requests. I have it on good authority that she has, in fact, never turned down proofing someone’s ACC post. The same can even be said for (usually much longer) Run-On posts. She was an integral part of Run-On post proofing during ORT, Trials of Loyalty, the Arcona Family Feud, the Vendetta, and the numerous Voice Run-On comps that have been released. If that doesn’t demonstrate her commitment to the members of her house, Arcona and the Brotherhood, I don’t quite know what does.

Added to that, she has devoted an extraordinary amount of time to helping Scelestus, Andrelious and, previously, Cethgus in their roles as members of the Qel-Droman summit. She is phenomenal in her ability to set aside time to help the other members of the summit so the entire house runs efficiently and smoothly, all the while teaching and guiding the greener members of the summit particular aspects of leadership. Its remarkable to watch the newer members of the summit develop so quickly, and I dare say the reason for their success is because of Socorra’s exemplary guidance.

On the more general side of activity Socorra has demonstrated that she is always eager and willing to assist with any new project within the Brotherhood. She was integral in the testing of Brotherhood Galaxy Quest, along with being one of the primary testers for James with Promotheus, the now Brotherhood-wide promotion guidance system. She has assisted Archer with a number of competition proposals (which came to form the gist of the Trials of Loyalty), developed and planned an entire proposal for a possible DB RPG project in the future, written the background for an entirely TOR-based battleteam for use in the future, fine-tuned Wally’s Reboot 3.0 project, assisted James and company with the TOR automation proposal, and was on the initial team for the Cluecona project. Added to that, she has assisted Dash on a number of Wikipedia projects in the past, and even helped him track potential cloners through researching into typographical patterns, even scanning individual posts on the forum to correlate data for the MAA office. I know this is simply a list of things. But they demonstrate something quite spectacular. She has been able to assist in so much of the background project which are often overlooked within the Brotherhood, usually being one of the primary members of each of the teams, all the while juggling the responsibilities of Quaestor (which are no mean feat, especially in a clan with such high leadership expectations).

Now we get onto her personal achievements. These are of an equal level of win to that of her leadership tasks, so don’t worry. Firstly we have her ability as a master and mentor. When Invictus had to step away from leadership to attend to factors of his real life, Socorra was left with the house… and his student. Graus has since developed into an integral member of the Clan, with Socorra seeing him through to Dark Jedi Knight in almost record time. Shortly after he reached DJK, he went on to place 10th overall in Horizons. I’m pretty sure we can say with no shadow of a doubt that some of the credit goes to Socorra for aiding such an astounding member in their understanding of the Brotherhood.

Socorra is also a woman of many talents. She games as well as writing and leading one of the most badass houses in the Brotherhood. She plays D3 regularly and has been with or helped many DB members run through dungeons and Acts. She was also a member of the group that received a Pendant of Blood for being the first DB group to kill Diablo on Inferno Difficulty. Indeed, before she stopped paying for TOR, she was also very active in running Flashpoints and Warzones with DB members, receiving a number of CFs for her efforts. Since then, she’s earned 643 from playing D3 with others, all in order to help them with the game and aid struggling Brotherhood members.

And now we get to the fun stuff. The (extensive) list of medals and accolades this phenomenal woman was racked up. Go get yourself a nice beverage, sit back, and relax… this may take a while.

I think I’ll have to start with one of her proudest moments – ending 2rd in the CHL, being beaten by the eventual champion, Timeros. She also contributed to the Ambitions Run-On for several months, having been selected by the Grand Master himself to join his team, and placed first, acquiring a Diamond Crescent – no mean feat, let alone to share the victory with the Grand Muzter himself. She placed first in the “May the Fourth” competition strain run by Dash. She won 1st place on the Dark Side Jams, Cantina Tales, and Quick and Easy competitions, all of which were Brotherhood-wide events. She placed fourth overall in the Clan event Operation Rolling Thunder, having acquired three first places, along with nine other top-half entries. Similarly, she placed 10th overall in the Trials of Loyalty Clan-wide competition.

And now medals: Since her last promotion, Socorra has achieved 1 Grand Cross, 1 Dark Cross, 756 Clusters of Fire, 11 Clusters of Ice, 1 Pendant of Blood, 2 Ruby crescents, 3 Amethyst crescents, 1 Quartz crescent, 1 Diamond crescent, 2 Emerald crescents, 1 Sapphire crescent, 4 Silver Novae, and 1 Gold Novae. This list is absolutely astounding given that she is usually the one awarding the other members. It exemplifies not only her talents, but her genuine interest in participating as a member and as a leader. It is tangible evidence of her constant drive, determination and ambition to better the Brotherhood. And I couldn’t be more proud.

So, as you have seen from this extensive recommendation, Socorra is well overdue her promotion. She has been a shining light in Arcona, a true inspiration to the membership. I feel that she has more than earned Krath Archpriest, and I hope that she continues to work for the betterment of the Brotherhood.

Congratulations, Socorra.

Wuntila Arconae, Consul – Arcona.

t’s strange to think of Socorra as an Equite. I still remember the bright eyed Journeyman that I became close with during the 10th Great Jedi War. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of watching her plow through the ranks, charging and leaping and spinning away from any obstacles that have been put in her way. Socorra is a different type of member and leader. She is a combination of multiple Archetypes, giving her a truly unique persona that is part of what makes her so likeable. It’s really rare to have someone who is just good at everything. Most of us have our specialities or preferences, but not Socks. She can do it all. Her positive attitude and work ethic run circles around even some of the most accomplished leaders I’ve worked for or with in my time in the Brotherhood. She is a true gem as part of the Summit, and honestly her activity list speaks for itself. The woman is unstoppable, and by my count has more than earned the rank of Equite 2.

Socks, from start to finish, has been an awe-inspiring member to behold. A Knight within three, a first-level just over half a year, Quaestor, ACC Judge and general badass within a year, all from nothing, with no one known within the Brotherhood and a War starting just days after she joined. Socorra dived into the Brotherhood and never looked back, somehow juggling her many, many functions as a member in a way that’s never been anything less than amazing. So, what’s left for her? Only one way for her to go, and that’s up. Socorra’s already a pillar of her Clan. One day, she’ll be a pillar of the Brotherhood as a whole. In recognition of that future and the amazing amount of work she has done from the very first day on, we should promote a member who has already achieved more than some Elders and recognize her as an Archpriestess posthaste.

-Timeros Caesus Entar Arconae, Rollmaster Arcona

Service...that is the word that comes to mind first whenever one thinks of Socorra. Excellence is a close second. She embodies both on a daily basis as she always strives to put the good of the House, Clan, and entire Brotherhood before her own personal goals. Somehow she also finds the time to participate in comps, Vendettas and other projects, again showing excellence in everything that she turns her hand to do, while never being too busy to give a kind word of encouragement where needed. I think the best way I can sum up what I am trying to say is that every time I read the qualifications for Equite promotion or medal award I think of her with every word I read. It is an honor to know her, work for her, and call her friend.
