I have had the privilege of watching Braecen Kaeth grow as a member of the Dark Brotherhood and develop into one of our strongest leaders. Over the last three years Braecen has dedicated his Dark Brotherhood experience to improving those around him and ultimately improving the Dark Brotherhood as whole.
It is said that only a special type of person may be elevated to the status of Elder. Achieving the Rite of Mastery requires a member to serve in multiple key developmental positions and to serve in those positions with distinction. It also requires a level of dedication to our organization that few will ever achieve.
When asked what type of members I want to see in the Dark Brotherhood, my response is always the same. I want to see members who are truly dedicated to improving our Club and members who are actually willing to do what it takes to make those improvements. It is one thing to make grandiose statements about why and how we need to move our club forward, but it is an entirely different thing to do something about it.
Braecen Kaeth is truly one of our members who not only has a vision for improving the Dark Brotherhood, but also the ability to make his vision a reality.
In the last year Braecen has organized a Face Book recruitment drive for the Dark Brotherhood that brought unparalleled visibility to our website. During Braecen's recruitment drive we saw hundreds of new members go through our application process and we saw our website counter increase to an amazing 25,000 hits a month. This project and this boost to our visibility is a direct result of Braecen's vision and dedication to improving the Dark Brotherhood.
Braecen followed up this facebook drive by volunteering to run the Dark Brotherhood Independent Games. This idea was something that Braecen brought to me and something that he helped organize and make happen. Very few, if any of our members have attempted to run such a large competition in the Dark Brotherhood while at the same time dealing with the responsibilities of running their Clan.
Most recently Braecen helped organize and plan the Dark Brotherhood meeting at the Troy Denning book signing. This opportunity was a part of the Dark Brotherhood's ongoing plans to expand our reach into the Star Wars community and search for new avenues to recruit members. Braecen's hard work and dedication allowed us a fantastic opportunity to present Mr. Denning with the first ever Honorary Membership to the Dark Brotherhood and the occasion could not have gone any better.
These three activities are but a small sampling of what Braecen has done for our club in the last year. His service as Consul of CSP and Plagueis have been exemplary and his work at expanding our membership through the 501st has added another avenue of approach for recruitment.
I truly can't say enough about Braecen. It is time for him to be an Elder and it is just a short matter of time before he moves beyond the scope of a Dark Adept. Congrats B.
Grand Master Sarin
There's prize few people in the brotherhood entire that compell me to reccommend them for elder ranks. I'm exceedingly picky when it comes to that. I feel that a person has to contribute heavily, and in a lasting manner to the entire brotherhood in addition to having extensive clan-based experience and success. Braecen is one of the few people who make that cut. He throws himself into every project near him, doing whatever he can to aid the brotherhood. He's served as consul of Scholae Palatinae and Plagueis, and has had numerous successes during both terms. He also took it upon himself to resurrect the Independence Games, helping to plan and run the event along with Phoenix. Braecen is also one of those members who leads from the front. He is as active as the people he commands, constantly gaming and participating in events and competitions. And furthermore, Braecen has been one of the biggest proponents of our real-world and extra-site recruitment drives, having generated scores of new members out of his facebook drive. His dedication and work to keep the brotherhood going and growing belies his love for the club, and that I think, is the truest test of an elder in the club. So, it is with a distinct honor that I reccommend Braen Kaeth for promotion to Dark Side Adept and inclusion in the Elder ranks.
