Since his last promotion, about 7 years ago, Wade hasn’t been idle. Having spent the last 5 years as a rogue, we’re quite happy to have him back. In this time, he’s organized 5 competitions. Additionally, he’s participated in 73 competitions, earning himself 14 Crescents (3 Amethyst, 3 Sapphire, & 8 Emerald). He earned himself 16 Seals of Wrath in the 12th Great Jedi War. Additionally, he’s acquired 6 Clusters of Fire, 16 Clusters of Ice, and 34 Clusters of Graphite. On the side of the Societies, he’s elevated his rank 13 times across the various societies. He has further earned himself 1 Anteian Cross, 1 Steel Cross, 1 Grand Cross, and 1 Sapphire Blade. Narman/Wade has completed 5 Shadow Academy Courses.

In the month since he joined Taldryan, Wade has quickly established himself as a highly active and sociable taldryanite. He’s been a solid presence on discord and seems to always be either sharing some information, impression or interacting with another member as they are doing so.

Wade, neither of us has been in Taldryan for very long. However, it seems like our new home is suiting both of us quite well. It’s truly wonderful to be able to promote you already. Keep up the good effort and I expect to be able to promote you again before too long. For now, go enjoy being an EQ2 and all it entails, you’ve more than earned this promotion!!

Erin has been an EL1 longer than most of our members have been in the club. A lot of that time was spent bouncing between Tal and the rogues, but in the last few years she has made a concerted effort to be more active and has sought out leadership roles and major projects including PCON and CON of Taldryan, P:HM, M:SCL, and now Emissary. Her work as M:SCL in particular is worth highlighting: I have spent most of the last decade on the DC and in all of that time, I have never seen anyone on the SCL staff make the kinds of major contributions that Erin has made in just a few months--most notably coding the new judgment system for the ACC.

She's an enthusiastic participant in DC discussions (legacy title: Argues With Bears) and a font of ideas, but she can also get things done. Most recently she led the charge in quantifying DC staff processing tasks for XP, something that had historically been a very wishy washy, handwavey item in medal and promotion requests.

I am very glad that she decided to give leadership another shot and that she was in the right place at the right time to land Emissary. Congratulations, Erin, on finally being recognized as one of our eldest elders.

Additional reasons

Such Elder. Much Wisdom. Wow.

This one has been highly anticipated and for good reason. Stints running TAL, work in DC offices and finally EMS itself, Erin has been quite busy over her very long career. None of those jobs have been easy, and it makes me very glad to see her finally cross that EL2 goal line.

Impressively she managed to not only deal with the stresses as of a totally new DC position, but also has taken the time to do some coding magic to finally get the Judging overhaul of the ACC done. That involved parsing my train of thought notes and descriptions, which is no easy feat. Everytime I’ve had to deal with Erin she has been insanely responsive, receptive, and ready to get the job done, traits we all hope for in any member, and especially in a Councilor.

Many congratulations Erin on this promotion. Now go argue with the bear some more.

Lord Idris Adenn, 2024-07-09 16:57:27 UTC

In the DJB, there are two kinds of people; members who sit in the dark and complain about it being dark, and never offering or attempting to try and do anything about, and then members who will not just complain about it being dark, but offer ideas on how to make it less dark, grab a fricking ladder, climb up, and change the goddamn lightbulb.

I am talking about light bulbs, and fully understand that we already got rid of the "dark" part of the Jedi Brotherhood. You know what I meant.

Anyway, Erinyes is the later kind of member. It's one thing to recognize issues with something, and then to lament about it. I first got to know Erin when she came back to the Brotherhood after time away by luck. I was added to a small group chat with her where we got to commiserate on things we thought could be done better in the club.

I'm honored to say that I've now gotten to watch Erinyes chase after her ideas and goals. To actually put the work in and try to make changes to the Brotherhood. It's easy to be complacent, or fall back on the "better" old times, but she has kept her eyes forward and focused.

She was part of trio of big-brains (with Arch and I) to see the potential for RP as a platform, not just a side activity that a few people were doing. Her input helped the proposal that ultimately went to the Grand Masters and was approved.

While I can't speak to her Clan-leadership, I do know that Erin was a big factor in helping to bridge relationships between Clans.

When she didn't get Emissary, she could have just said 'fluff it. But she didn't. She continued to work, and when things required her to step up, she did.

As Emissary and working with the SCL, she has also been one of the only non-James people to help develop important changes to the database side of our website. She also was able to help me get the data I needed, as Exarch, to make informed decisions. She accomplished this by making a report targeted towards RP activity that I can now run whenever I want. She's taken feedback, tweaked things, and even implemented a way to track my staffs admin approvals on RPs. Which is awesome and a great QoL feature.

All of these things, plus her continued commitment to improving the club, make her a true Elder 2, even if the XP threshold was met.

Keep up the great work, Erinyes.

Lord Marick Tyris Arconae, 2024-07-10 01:16:16 UTC

Erinyes. It has been an insane year, considering that only a year ago I didn’t really know you. In that time, we spent an entire 5 weeks of our lives messing about on Halo Infinite and stepped up into the Emissary Office as partners in crime social stuff. We poked at each other’s applications for Emissary, supporting each other despite being in competition and proceeded to get to work before I got the pleasure of working under you. All through that time we’ve shared perfectly acceptable ladies wielding axes, cat pics, no shots being thrown away and many gremlin activities. I couldn’t ask for more, though you gave it in heaps. I’m used to having activity assessments to pull here, but I’ll try and reel off what I’ve seen of Erinyes instead. From memory.

From day one in the office, she was on the ground creating prospective changes for the club. For instance, Erinyes was the brain behind moving the competition tab to activities rather than Main and while I’m sure some still click main (Including myself), it’s the beginning of a line of dominos. It’s been some time since I’ve seen the plans, but they were being built from well before she was even hired to the magistrate role.

Then as January rolled around, we were knee deep in it. The social media launch in February, the first upcoming member newsletters that needed to roll out for the rogues and the clan members, as well as the continuing progress and plans for the backend of things, Erinyes worked to keep us organised and working forward. I’ve been able to go to Erinyes over anything and everything, be it concerns or additional thoughts wise. Threads full of random comments and ideas can speak to that. Yet we still got it done. Her kindness and the trust she built as a leader, I also had no hesitation when I realised Consul-hood was overwhelming my ability to be a good Praetor. I was given the time through the months prior to focus elsewhere and pull through on tasks, and found myself fumbling as time continued. Erinyes was beyond supportive, allowing me time to solidify the decision before I stepped away truly. There is no complaint I have about her as a leader, member or friend in this club.

There is no doubt the impact Erinyes has had on the club, a pillar of the #OneBrotherhood mindset and working to make this club the best community it can be. Arguer of Bears and Avatar of Noodles. As long deserved as this has been, drinks are still going to be on you for this one <3.

Envoy Zuza Lottson, 2024-07-10 01:44:40 UTC

What more can I add here that hasn't already been said? Erinyes has been my most productive staff member in years, taking the lead on and completing numerous projects the details of which can be found on the recommendations on the various awards she recently received. Not only that, but she managed to accomplish this while also serving on the Emissary's staff and later even taking over the Emissary role itself. It is often said that one of the key things that defines the higher level Elders is that they have made lasting changes to the Brotherhood, and this is certainly the case for Erin. Congratulations on this promotion, it is well deserved!

Ascendant James Lucius Entar, 2024-07-10 12:41:54 UTC

Throughout my time working as Communications Tribune, and now Magistrate to the Emissary, Erinyes has not only been an incredible collaborator, but a wonderful "boss" and friend. I know I wouldn't be in the position I am in today without her, and for that I am forever grateful. She has been the sturdy rock in the crazy world that is "Emissary." From getting a kick start on the Social Media accounts, to social hangouts/attempted movie nights, and even redesigning the DJB website, the Emissary team has accomplished a lot this year and wouldn't have done so without her. Outside of the Emissary world, Erinyes is an active in the Discord, and a very kind person, one that I have been able to lean on and talk to (as I am sure others have as well). She is everything a DJB leader should be and more. Thank you Erinyes for all your hard work and dedication with the Brotherhood as a whole, and the Emissary team. This promotion is WELL deserved! I cannot wait to see what the future holds, and look forward to present and future collaborations! Congratulations!

Nora Olen, 2024-07-10 12:48:58 UTC

Many things have already been said about Erinyes as a member and leader, all of them justified, and yet most certainly altogether none of us able to completely sum up her impact. I could discuss her wonderfulness as a DM of several long term RPs I've been in and her curation and world building of several fictional aspects of Taldraya and the club and her collaboration with members on in character companies and storylines. I could talk about how proactive she is as Emissary and her legacy as a Combat Master being one I never saw in its prime but have experienced over and over when we worked with each other for a brief and -- to me -- legendary time as ACC Judges. But I want to take the time to acknowledge not just her investment and care in her positions and her attention and time in making this club better for everyone, but also her time and attention as a friend. If someone is low, Erin is there to cheer them on with a carefully crafted doggo meme or a loading gif of their pet. If they need advice or an ear, she will listen with attentiveness and sympathy. She will reach out and check on people when no one else may. She will find it important what others find important.

But most of all, Erin, I would like to say this: for over a decade I fought to make the club a more inclusive, feminist place by taking that charge at the front and enduring all the lashes, stereotyping allegations against my work, and glass ceilings. You were a name I heard of rarely, like other female members of the past, spoken of at the least more kindly than them. And when I actually got to meet you, you were incredible. You still are. You understand. You are an ally in womanhood in a place that was not for women. And it's grown. And it's better. But let it not go unsaid how you were part of that fight, sister. How we are both now in a rare group and so much deserved, to be female Masters in the time after postion-granted auto-ranks. You have endured, and inspired, and I see you.

Thank you. For being so much. For doing so much. And for walking ahead and then standing beside me. All our love and ardor. Congratulations for something long overdue but hopefully not too late.

Master Ruka Tenbriss Ya-ir, 2024-07-10 18:15:00 UTC

If I had a nickel for every time I developed some new set of duties and then dumped them in Erin's lap and walked away, I would only have two nickels, but that's two more than I'd have for anybody else.

We don't make new positions often, but when we do, the role is normally defined by the person who first holds the job. Regent was created to manage our possessions system and it went to the guy who created out possessions system. Exarch was created for me to figure out what the Exarch needed to do. Stuff like that.

Emissary didn't work that way. Bubba and I wrote the job description for it and then threw it to the wolves. The wolves turned out to be Qormus, who inaugurated the position but disappeared before implementing any of his plans. So Erin got the worst of both worlds: she didn't get to define what her job was to match her vision, but she did have to figure out how to do it without the benefit of other examples or a trained staff. It takes a special kind of person to do than and actually get anywhere, someone who's capable of looking at the big picture and then arranging the little details to change the macrocosm. Erin came into the Emissary job with the skills and background for a lot of the detail work, but her ability to marry that to a strategic vision is why the Emissary office will outlive her term and continue to fulfill the club's needs for years to come.

As for the other nickel, I'm an analyst by trade and so every problem looks like an analytical problem to me. There are a lot of factors to go into making good decisions as a summit leader or Council member, and I think a key one is that you need to understand the context for your decisions. That's hard to do without data, so I made it a pet project to provide data and analysis on member activity and unit health to club leadership. But like I said, I'm an analyst, not a data scientist or a programmer. Fortunately for the club, Erin has been developing her skillset in both those areas and she's moved from supporting that effort to taking it over altogether and advancing it in ways I couldn't have.

As others, particularly Erin, have pointed out: this promotion has been a long, long time coming. I regret that this rec only really addressed the last nine or twelve months of a long career as an EL1, but I'm glad to see her move into the next chapter of her career.

Before, I did not fear the reaper Alaisy. There was little to be afraid of. The poem below, a special rendition of Edgar Allen Poe's the Raven, I feel, signifies my character's new fear of her Elder-level powers. But before I get into it, I want to congratulate you on reaching this massive milestone!

Since her last promotion only just at the end of January, she's participated in a staggering 389 competitions and organized another 112 on top of that; with 9 roleplays as a participant, 3 as a DM, with a near-combined 50,000 words almost. From those competitions, she earned 187 crescents; 195 clusters of graphite, and 101 Clusters of Ice; with 2.2 million credits earned for the clan as well! That also includes 17 society rankups, and a good chunk of time as my Magistrate and a Ruby Scepter. Phenomenal, phenomenal work!

This promotion is extremely well deserved. Now, enjoy the poem, then the perks and CS redesigns that come along with it.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door —
Only this, and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; — vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow — sorrow for her lost friend —
For the rare and radiant pecan whom the Chiss named Anders —
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me — filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating,
Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door —
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; —
This it is, and nothing more."

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
Sir," said I, "or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you"— here I opened wide the door; —
Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Anders?"
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, "Anders!" —
Merely this, and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
Surely," said I, "surely that is something at my window lattice:
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore —
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; —
'Tis the wind and nothing more."

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately Alaisy of the saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made her; not a minute stopped or stayed her;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door —
Perched upon a bust of Renatus just above my chamber door —
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then was Alaisy beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no fallacy,
Ghastly grim and ancient Alaisy wandering from the Nightly shore —
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Kasiyan shore!"

Quoth the Alaisy, "Nevermore."

Much I marveled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning— little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blest with Alaisy above her chamber door —
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust of Renatus above her chamber door,
With such name as "Nevermore.”

But the Alaisy, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
that one word, as if her soul in that one word she did outpour.
Nothing farther then she uttered—not a feather then she fluttered—
Till I scarcely more than muttered “Other friends have flown before—
On the morrow she will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before.”

Then Alaisy said “Nevermore.”

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
“Doubtless,” said I, “what it utters is its only stock and store
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till her songs one burden bore—
Till the dirges of her Hope that melancholy burden bore
Of ‘Never—nevermore’.”

But Alaisy still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of her, and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous Alaisy of yore—
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous Alaisy of yore
Meant in croaking “Nevermore.”

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the Alaisy whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom’s core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion’s velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o’er,
But whose velvet-violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o’er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, me thought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
“Wretch,” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee—by these angels she hath sent thee
Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Anders;
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Anders!”
Quoth the Alaisy “Nevermore.”

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!—
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted—
On this home by Horror haunted—tell me truly, I implore—
Is there—is there balm in Gilead?—tell me—tell me, I implore!”

Quoth the Alaisy “Nevermore.”

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us—by that God we both adore—
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Caelus,
It shall clasp a sainted Chiss whom the angels name Anders—
Clasp a rare and radiant Chiss whom the angels name Anders.”
Quoth the Alaisy “Nevermore.”

“Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!” I shrieked, upstarting—
“Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Kasiyan shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!”
Quoth the Alaisy “Nevermore.”

And the Alaisy, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Renatus just above my chamber door;
And her eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er her streaming throws her shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!

Alaisy has reached EL1? That's fantastic! I can only imagine what the new and improved Alaisy CS will look li-

Looks at Terror and Intellect at +5 that will no doubt haunt and terrify several characters.

Oh... oh, God's... What have we done!?

OK, now that my little tidbit of melodrama is out of the way, I'd like to take the opportunity to talk about how great Alaisy is. I'm not going to go over the numbers, Cass over there will handle that, but let's just say that if XP wasn't a thing, Alaisy would more than likely still be thrown in the hat for an Elder recc. To say Alaisy is active is an understatement. When I was her Proconsul, seldom a day went by where I didn't get an email regarding some comp somewhere that she had participated in. (And they weren't all puzzles too!)

I had the joy of working together with her whilst she was on the Taldryan Summit. Let me just say that any positive information you may have received about working with Alaisy is true. All of it. Together, we developed lore for the Dalicron system, ran competitions together, co-organised an RP together etc etc. Alaisy brings a creativity and drive that pushes not just whatever project she's working on forward, but those around her too.

That's before I get in to what Alaisy is like as a person. I have the distinct honour of calling Alaisy one of my closest friends here in the club. She's 100% approachable and we talk about literally everything from club stuff to life. She is always supportive, as seen from the many chats she is active in all around Discord.

I know you have been looking forward to this, Alaisy. Thank you for everything. Congratulations on finally reaching Elder. Have fun deciding what to do with your CS!

High Inquisitor "Aequitas" Anderson, 2024-07-09 18:22:28 UTC

I'm still getting used to the concept of Elder 1 being an XP-based proc. While I might usually turn my head as a result of this, this time I believe that this promotion is well deserved and honor earned for a very special member of our club. Teebs already covered her metrics, so I'll just use my space here to say a few things that come to mind when talkin' about Alaisy.

Alaisy is an incredible artist, writer, and communicator. She even has a JA bracket victory in her back pocket as a gamer (I'm sure it's on her suit somewhere, or she can make a pocket if she needed to). Beyond that, she is a true friend. She is someone that genuinely cares about the people around her. When you tell her something about your character, or your goals, or things you like, she will not just remember, but circle back to it and be considerate of those things. I mention all of this because it shows in how she interacts and engages with our community. She can do it all. And never once have I seen her snap, deride, or look down on anyone. She is poised, clever, and caring. She sets an example of how both a leader and member should act. She has offered to proof read fictions and stories for people she doesn't even know. She gives good feedback when interacting with them, too.

Back when I retired as Voice, I had a very difficult time becoming a regular member. I felt very isolated from my old friends, who had moved on from the club, and the new folks who didn't really know me as anything other than "the guy who said no to my Species request". Alaisy didn't seem to care. The second I joined back to Arcona, she welcomed me in. She came up with character ideas and stories with me, and was willing to share my competitiveness in competitions. She helped rebuild my confidence in writing with other people, not just FOR people.

I don't know if I have thanked her for that, and if I did, well, here's just another reminder of how she is.

As Exarch, I've felt comfortable knowing she's been a member of our community. She's stepped in running her first few RPs, which has lead to better adaptation and fun for the members.

I am grateful, everyday, that she decided to come back to the DB, even more so now that others have gotten to experience how great she is. I'm also happy to keep reminding her of this, and excited to see her continue to succeed and excel at anything she puts her mind to.

And I'm happy to welcome her to the rank of the Elders. Our favorite Sharp, Shiny Sith o/

In the time since his last promotion, about seven years ago, in between several stints in the rogues, Darkblade has been quite the whirlwind of activity. He organised 28 competitions, and co-organised a further 5. He has also participated in 275 competitions, earning himself 97 Crescents (2 Diamond, 6 Ruby, 35 Amethyst, 19 Sapphire, 28 Emerald, and 7 Topaz). Since his last elevation, he has been the recipient of 1 Amethyst Kukri, 2 Sapphire Blades, 1 Grand Cross, 2 Anteian Crosses, and a Dark Cross. In 2017 he was awarded a Seal of Loyalty. In the Rite of Suppremacy: Meridian, he earned himself a Seal of Fury and in the 13th Great Jedi War, he earned 6 Seals of Discord. Finally, in the Rite of Suppremacy: Escalation, he gave a great showing of activity, evidenced by collecting 2 Silver Novae, 2 Bronze Novae, and 16 Seals of Enmity. He has also earned 394 Clusters of Fire, 5 Pendants of Blood, and 61 Clusters of Graphite. He has participated in 4 RP Sessions, for a total of 5.555 words. Darkblade has completed 35 Shadow Academy Courses, earning himself 9 degrees. On the side of Societies, he’s elevated his rank in the various societies 18 times.

However it is in fiction that Darkblade has been showing off his skills. Since his last promotion, he participated in 3 Run-Ons, 16 individual fiction events, and 4 ACC matches. He has written a grand total of 21.613 words, earning himself 49 Clusters of Ice. On top of this, he has earned himself 2 Dark Side Scrolls for contributions to the DJBWiki.

On the social side, Darkblade has been a well-regarded member of the Clan, and has been a solidly active presence on Discord. He’s always up to help others and offers advice when and where he can.

Darkblade, I may not have been in Taldryan for long (under a month still), but you’ve already proven yourself an active, pleasant, sociable Taldryanite. It truly is a pleasure to have you in the Clan. Keep up the good work and force me to write you other reccs. It is with great pride that I am able to promote you into the final Equite rank. I expect to see you amongst the Elders before too long. For now though, go enjoy being at the top of the Equite Tier, you’ve more than earned this!!
