Darth Bane once stated that equality is a myth to protect the weak. This maxim holds true in the Dark Brotherhood. We are not all equal and we are not all the same. Dark Adept Kir Taldrya Katarn is a shining example of this.
Kir has served for two years and four months at the rank of Dark Adept. During this time he has held the position of Taldryan Consul, Plagueis Consul, Right Hand of Justice, Deputy Grand Master, and Justicar. In each position Kir served with honor and distinction and brought more to the collective DB table than can be imagined. Kir's insight and knowledge in the Dark Brotherhood are paralleled only by a few and thus it is time for Kir Taldrya Katarn to become a Dark Jedi Master.
Kir, you have been a steadfast adviser and friend. I am proud to have served as your Proconsul and I am proud to serve as your Grand Master. It is because of members like you that the Dark Brotherhood continues to thrive and succeed. Congratulations on your well earned promotion.

This is a promotion that I should have given out as Grand Master. I feel bad that I didn't, because Kir Taldrya Katarn deserved to be a Dark Jedi Master a long, long time ago.
Since he learned the honors of being among the Elder ranks, Kir has served in the end of his term as Taldryan Consul, has worked at my side as Deputy Grand Master, sat in as Plagueis Consul and now serves as Justicar. There are few people who can boast such a resume. More impressive...there are few people who can handle those positions.
Kir is one of the most level-headed members we have. He brings common sense into every situation, evaluates every event outside of the drama and makes sure that things are being done right. Integrity plays a key role in his part of the DB; Kir ensures that things are done right. From his time as Consul of Taldryan to his tenure as Justicar, Kir has made sure that rules are followed, that people are on task and that we are always moving and looking forward. He has an excellent sense of duty and is great to work with. Truly, there are few people that I enjoy working with more.
Kir has been an important part in the most influential projects that the DB saw in the past two years. He was one of the primary architects of Project Amalgamation that completely reformed and modernized the Dark Council. Kir was very influential in defining new Council roles and documenting the jobs of each remaining Councilor. Kir was not only there when we ratified the Dark Covenant, but he was an integral part in thee first major reforms to go through. Kir helped me put together the current judicial code and sell it to the members. I could not have done that without him. Further, Clan Plagueis would not be around if it wasn't for Kir. This member stepped in and built the clan and its history from the ground up after Chi-Long left it for dead. He recruited Sarin as Proconsul, and we all know where that led. CP would not be the same without him.
Most recently, Kir has brought a new look to the Justice system in the DB. It had become increasingly obvious that the stand-off approach to Justice that Firefox and I employed did not work. Kir has made the rules more logical and easier to find. He is documenting eveything and keeping the public in the know. He is working to close loopholes in the Covenant. He has done a fantastic job as Justicar.
Kir is a great member who has long deserved a promotion. He cares about this club a great deal; it shows with every action. He is a good friend to all and will undoubtedly go down as one of our greatest members.
Kir, you have my thanks and admiration. Congratulations on your promotion.

As long as I have known Kir, I have admired his ability to stay level-headed in the face of almost anything. From Shadow Hand to Consul of two clans to Justicar, the man has an unnerving calm about him. Analytical and patient, he is a great asset to the DC, someone to bounce ideas off of, and has a great recollection of ideas and things that have happened before, so he's quite useful to those of us who've not been in the club since the early days. Constantly available for questions or feedback, thorough and methodical in his organization, Kir is a great asset to the DB, and is my distinct honor to help recommend him for the rank of Dark Jedi Master. Congratulations.

Kir: Amazing. That's all you really need for this promotion request. Anyway,
we'll look back just to make it even more obvious.
Over two years ago Kir was still running Taldryan as one of the longest
serving Consuls, if not the longest, and was promoted to Dark Side Adept. He
served another 7 months in that position keeping up excellent reports,
competitions, and doing the various activities he tells his own members to
do. Come October he stepped down only to move up to Deputy Grand Master.
While he wasn't in the position too long, a 5 month period, he did am
amazing job helping Jac and re-establishing Clan Plagueis from the mess it
was left in. Real life got the best of him at that point, but he returned to
Taldryan to help out when he could possibly. What came next though has
really shined lately, that being his appointment to Justicar in February.
Jac, Kir, and others have really brought the Dark Covenant to where it is
today. From creation to amendments, he's had his hand in it and only for the
better. Kir has held the Chamber of Justice up well publicly, completing
several cases and setting policies.
That's just a short overview. We could go into every time he helped on of
his Clan mates out, when he ran this or that, but we simply don't have the
time for that. Above all this I've known Kir for at least 3 years now and I
know whatever he has done has been for his Clan, and for the Brotherhood,
and that I really respect and try to live up to myself. For his work as
Consul, Deputy Grand Master, and Justicar, I believe he is warranted a
promotion to Dark Jedi Master. Congrats my friend, you deserved this one for
a good while now I'd say!

I was asked to say a few words about Kir Taldrya Katarn. Put simply, a few words will not cut it to describe what Kir has done over his 7 1/2 year tenure for not just his Clan, but the club as a whole. I'll let the many other members I'm sure will attach recommendations to this promotion have the privilege of recounting Kir's achievements. I'll speak to what I've seen personally while working with him over the last six months as the Left Hand of Justice.
What impresses me most is Kir's work ethic. He has tackled very sensitive and hotly contested justice issues within the club during his reign as Justicar and has done so respectfully and with steadfast determination. Working with others, he has amended the Dark Covenant numerous times so that the document may better serve members and leaders alike as a tool to accomplish that which we all set out to do here: have fun in a safe and secure environment.
Kir has investigated several claims against members for various accusations and has been just and fair in pursuing those that required the Chamber of Justice's attention, and defusing those situations that were not in need of our intervention. When the CoJ has been called to duty, the Justicar has shown the competency and willingness of spirit to see the often complicated and drawn out ordeals through to just conclusion.
Kir is a defender of the Covenant and as such, the precepts this club is founded on. This often puts him in the spotlight in good times and bad. He does not stand over members with his authority, but rather between them and those who would do harm. His job is difficult. One I wouldn't want myself. But looking through his record of service as one is bound to do, he has held almost exclusively all the most difficult of positions the club has to offer.
This says more of him than I can and far more eloquently.
