Sometimes a promotion to Dark Jedi Knight is the ultimate goal, the crux of what someone would hope to attain in the DB and they would work hard and diligently to attain that goal, just to then sit back and say "I've done what I've done, now I will sit back and take it easy".
Malidir's promotion to Knight was closely tied to the efforts he had made on Arcona's behalf during the GJW, and he had reached his goal of DJK with that stint of activity. But Malidir did exactly the opposite of what most do, his activity in the 6th GJW wasn't enough for him, it wasn't his 'ultimate goal', it just inspired him to do even more.
He is what I wish every member in Galeres would be, self-motivated, hard-working and extremely dedicated. He submits to a multitude of fiction, graphics and poetry competitions, he represents Galeres and ultimately Arcona at every gaming night, ICTE and SIT and he rakes in the medals for his participation. He is not just 'another' gamer, or 'another' writer, his competition entries are well thought out and prepared and will usually place him in the top three. He doesn't just participate for the sake of it, he participates to the best of his ability. Ultimately to take the win for Arcona.
Mal is currently a member of the Fiction, Gaming and ICTE Staff and he also served a successful tenure as a DV Staff member. He is the Soulfire BTL, a relatively 'easy' position by most indications, but having been there myself I know that this is not the case. He is leading a group of people that are as dedicated as he is, perhaps even more so. But Malidir has taken to this roll and run with it. He creates competitions that are fun and illicit great discussion amongst the team members, he keeps them motivated, encourages them and most importantly, sets an example to them. If a member of his team earns 10 Clusters of Fire, Malidir will earn 20, just to show them that they can do better every time. And it's a method that is paying off, Soulfire is most probably one of the most active battleteams in the Brotherhood, even without having a full roster.
He is the Galeres Rollmaster / Envoy and fulfills that position with gusto and dedication. His reports are always thorough and have a light-hearted quality that makes them impossible to not laugh at a very nice change to the usual dull and dreary RM reports. His work as Envoy is amazing, new members immediately hit it off with him and inspires them to work harder through his own determination. His enthusiasm rubs off on them.
Since his last promotion Malidir has earned 3 Amethyst, 5 Amethyst, 5 Emerald and 2 Topaz Crescents, 2 Gold Novae, a Bronze nova, a Dark Side Scroll, Legion of the Scholar and a Scroll of Indoctrination. This is an impressive amount of medals for any individual. He has also moved himself up in the Antei Combat Centre, attaining the rank of "Learner" and currently sporting a 6-2 win/loss.
He has even made time to complete History of the Sith Empire I and II, HTML Basics, Force Philosophy, Krath Core, Astronomy and Capital Starship Studies at the Shadow Academy.
All in all, this individual deserves to be elevated to the rank of Templar. He has done more than most, showed perseverance, continued activity and dedication to Galeres and Arcona. Welcome to the world of Equites, Malidir and thank you for making us proud.
