I have known Vail for a long time. He and I have worked together on a great deal of competitions and projects over the years, and I have always admired the work ethic he has: consistent and dedicated. For the longest time, Vail struggled to obtain a high position within. Nevertheless, I was estatic when the opportunity came for him to become Consul of Scholae Palatinae. It was a chance for him to show what he was capable of, and show it, he did. CSP has been a consistent asset to the Brotherhood. It dominates in many activities such as the Independance Games. Vail has had a large part in that success as the Clan's leader. He should be commended for everything he did.
Vail served as Consul for a few days over a year. That is a very long time to give to a position. Vail was dedicated to the clan and always worked to make it better. He was a great Consul who was loved by his members. I appreciate all that he has done over the years, especially this past year, and look forward to what he will contribute in the future.
It is my pleasure today to elevate Vail, as a gift from the members of CSP, to the rank of Dark Adept.

Vail has been a good, consistent leader throughout his year as Consul
for CSP, not to mention his three months of service as HAD's Quaestor
directly beforehand. While at first a foreigner within the Clan, he
quickly acclimated to the way we do things without giving up on
propelling us further despite some moans and groans along the way. He
was a very visible and approachable Consul, who despite calling you a
retard at times would always see you through. He is therefore well
qualified for his... retirement gift. :) Don't be a stranger, Vail.

Vail or on IRC "Conboss", has shown great skill as Consul of Scholae
Palatinae and has been a great leader. Ever since I returned to the
clan he has been an asset to my work with my house. He has helped me
when I have occurred problems as Quaestor and has even helped me when
I was back in CEK; he has been like a master figure to me. Since
looking back towards the early stages of his career of Consul he has
made a great growth in activity of members from when he joined the
clan (Only guessing by looking at rosters over the years). But, I do
believe that seeing he is retiring, he deserves something for all his
work and helping with not just me, but the clan!

During my stay in CSP, though short it was, Vail was nothing but nice
to me, perhaps a bit odd at times too but can we expect anything
different from one who rules over a horde of squirrels? Chuckles He
was continuously helpful when I needed it, even when I didn't ask for
it and always encouraged the ideas I had whether indirectly or
directly.
When I did depart from CSP he understood my reasoning and wished me
the best in CEK rather then try and have me stay somewhere I felt I
didn't belong.

I've known Vail for a very long time, ever since I joined Indie House
Ektrosis and, during that time, he's been a solid, consistent bedrock
of the Brotherhood.
More recently, he served as my Magistrate. Unfortunately time
pressures meant that we didn't manage to work on any large projects
together... because he was busy running an inter-clan feud! He was,
however, always happy to run MTs or other competitions (e.g. haiku
comps) as and when needed, and he was always willing to come to me
with new ideas and ways to improve the Krath order.

Vail has accomplished so much in CSP. With him, we managed to honour the
old traditions while embracing new things. I believe the lack of
conflicts within the Clan was also largely due to Vail's good example
and him always listening to worries and complaints, then give
constructive ideas. And, of course, his funny competitions.
I'm not good at writing a recc in cases like this, because to us it is
obvious why Vail deserves a promotion or major award. I think you really
need to be in CSP to to understand. Sounds lame, but it's true. He's
been a great source of inspiration. And no doubt it's not the last the
DB has seen of him.
