Grot, the lesser of my two murderlizards (a title lost recently in a fictional fight with a krayt, but I digress) has been a busy bee… reptile… individual! First, let’s crunch some numbers.

Since his promotion last March, he’s organized 8 competitions and competed in 73; that’s roughly 6 competitions participated per month. Of those he’s place in 42, over half of his participations! To get there, he’s done 25 PvP matches, 56 PvE activities, and I won’t even touch his ACC stuff because that’s someone else’s schtick, but suffice to say: he’s done a bit.

Let’s talk specifics for those awards now. He’s got a Steel Cross for his efforts, amongst all the other shinies, which include 5 Seals of Fury for his participation in the last GJW. Crescents include 7 Diamond, 13 Ruby, 11 Amethyst, 6 Sapphire, and 5 Emerald. These go nicely with his 12 Pendants of Blood, 259 Clusters of Fire, and 625 Clusters of Earth. Helluva gamer this one. He’s fortunately well-rounded too, coming in with 19 Clusters of Ice and 24 of Graphite to boot. He’s also a recruiter, judging by his 3 Scrolls of Foundation, and he’s got a Seal of Loyalty and a Legion of the Scholar to top it all off.

Grot is also a regular and constant presence in Arcona in general, and within House Galeres on the whole. Telegram is replete with his conversations. I hear he’s active in Fiction Chat (I’m not in there, but I drink and I know things), and his voice at least daily pops into our Clan and subordinate unit chats. Sometimes it focuses solely on Warhammer 40k, but hey, it’s all about the fun times.

All in all, Grot has shown a lot of gusto, and somewhere deep in his scaly belly, he has a lot more waiting to burst out like some copyrighted extraterrestrial parasite-babeh. For both his accomplishments and those yet to come, I believe he is deserving of being elevated to the rank of Equite 2.

I didn't get much of a chance to work with Grot prior to becoming CM, but in the last few months he quickly proved himself to be one of the most thoughtful and insightful judges on staff. I've come to rely on his keen eye and expertise, both as a primary judge and a reviewer.

Since his last promotion, Grot has been the primary judge on 14 matches. This is a substantial time commitment, with each match taking in the range of two uninterrupted hours of work. In addition, he's repeatedly weighed in as a second reviewer on judgments by both his fellow judges, and me. Specifically, Grot stepped up when I needed him most and served as the lead judge for 4 of the 11 championship bracket judges that finished up while I was out of the country with limited computer access, and weighed in on most of the other bracket matches. I had been expecting to come back to a backlog, but thanks in large part to Grot I've been able to focus on other projects instead.

In summary, he's been an excellent and hard-working judge for his entire tenure, and I'm delighted to have a part in advancing him to the next stage of his DB career. Congrats, Murder Lizard.

Rhylance is what I want from any Arconan that serves on the Summit. He’s driven, active, personable, reliable, and consistent. I’ll let the others sing his praises more while I bring the hard data.

On the competition front, he has organized or assisted in the organization of 57 competitions. Several of these were month-long events with multiple stages and were ran quite smoothly. He’s been no slouch himself in the time since gaining Equite 3, participating in 226 competitions. His efforts have earned him a staggering 109 Crescents (5 Diamond, 38 Ruby, 28 Amethyst, 27 Sapphire, 5 Emerald, 5 Topaz, and 1 ever elusive Quartz)!

He’s participated in gaming, engaging his fellows to aid in competition participation and racking up 23 PvP and 3 PvE events. This garnered him 99 Clusters of Fire as well. Additionally, he’s been an avid artist, taking in 37 Clusters of Graphite.

Fiction-wise, he’s managed 8 ACC matches, 4 Run On Posts, and 20 other Fiction activities which earned him 77 Clusters of Ice. He also never stops learning, passing a whole 38 Academy Courses and earning another 9 Degrees!

More esoteric, Rhylance pulled 2 Scrolls of the Master for mentoring Greenfire and Alaisy to the rank of Knight. He also earned a Silver Nova during the Rites of Supremacy. For his services to Arcona and the Brotherhood he also was rewarded with a Sapphire Blade in this time.

All of this is impressive, even more so for the course of fifteen months. I am proud to have Rhylance on my command team and even prouder to call him a friend. I am also happy to properly congratulate and welcome him to the Equite 4s! Congratulations, man, you so earned this!

Rhylance is not only a shining example of what a good leader looks like, but also an example of what a stellar member is. He is not only an asset to House Qel-Droma, but Clan Arcona and the Dark Brotherhood as a whole.

His activity levels alone are beyond what is expected of any member and are only countered by his remarkable presence within the clan. Rhylance is a consistent participant in clan discussions, a helpful nudge in the right direction for those who need it, and just overall a friendly face and voice in Telegram channels when it is needed. He never hesitates to step in and lend a helping hand when he can and his attitude toward other members is always positive and encouraging.

Additionally, he is a wonder to work for. In the nearly year he’s been the Quaestor of House Qel-Droma, we have seen a huge bump in morale and participation across the board. I am thoroughly convinced that this is a direct reflection of Rhylance’s leadership capabilities, attitude toward his role in the House and Clan, and his refusal to be anything shy of the best he can be at any given time. He sets attainable goals for his subordinates and encourages them to push themselves in whatever capacity they can.

While I could certainly continue on about how wonderful Rhylance is both personally and in a professional capacity, I believe that his activities within the club, as well as the recommendations of others (and the sheer number of recommendations presented), should be a good indicator of just how deserving he is of this promotion to EQ4. The Doctor is in and he is ready to entertain you now. Rhylance is not one to sit on idle hands, he is always doing something. He keeps consistent with organizing competitions, both for his house, clan, and the entire DJB. He participates in other’s competitions and shoots for completing every single competition he possibly can for any event he subscribes to. No somps to do? The man hits up the Shadow Academy or take up his scalpel in the ACC and challenges himself there.

He is a man of dedication, commitment, and great passion for the DJB and the hobbies he enjoys within. Rhylance is not one to turn down an ACC match, a collaboration or simply bring to fruition a fiction idea spurred between him and another member. I don’t mention this purely for the fact it showcases his interest in writing and how active the man is. I mention this mostly to illustrate his more than happy willingness to reach out to other members and help them feel included, to help them explore and become active themselves in what may interest them. And this trait expands throughout Rhylance’s actions with whatever he does, gaming, organizing comps, mentoring a student or his House members, etc. It’s exactly what we need in this club and so much more.

Rhylance has done great work as the Quaestor of House Qel-Droma, bringing forth new and brilliant ideas with his Summit. His Qel-Dromans seem to be thriving and invested in the story Rhylance has been helping build there. I’m excited to see where else he leads the HQD crew with the aid of his Aedile and Battleteam Leader.

It is with all of the above and more that Rhylance should be recognized with a Grand Cross. The man works no stop, and we are not going to see that slowing anytime soon. Congratulations, Rhylance. May the shadows forever becon your presence!

Rhylance could easily be considered one of the foremost role models in Arcona. His level of activity alone is an amazing thing to behold.

But it isn’t just his overall participation that makes Rhylance a spectacular member of Arcona. He is likely one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is personable and friendly on Telegram, constantly answering questions for newbies and reaching out to the more veteran members.

He truly shines as a leader, as he is always quick to provide encouragement and guidance to the members of House Qel-Droma. He is integral to the story and event planning process of the House, spurring the leadership to continuously provide great content for its members.

I could easily continue to rave about how deserving of promotion Rhylance is, but I think you get the idea. He is truly an asset to Arcona, and I am very proud to call him my Quaestor and my friend. Others will speak of Rhylance’s statistics and activity, his capability as a competitor and inspiration to other members. I wanted to briefly speak about the impact he had on my own experience in the Club. After nearly a year of being a member, I found myself without much direction or utilization. I chose to transfer to House Qel-Droma under Rhylance as Quaestor and I can say with certainty the elements he brings to the table as a leader inspired me.

I’m unsure if I would have remained an active member when I had strongly considered turning to the rogues as I was no longer providing activity to the House or Clan. I certainly would not have chosen to re-engage with the Clan’s leadership and eventually apply to retake Proconsul. Working with Rhylance reminded me of the best aspects of the Club and the partnership he had with his members is something I look forward to seeing from him in the future as he eventually ascends to further heights.

With this in mind, I wanted to simply thank Rhylance for all he has done and congratulate him on his promotion.
