My recommendation:

Justicar is likely the most unenviable job in the club. When we are forced to turn to the Covenant, rare it may be, it is often under less than pleasant circumstances. As the Arbiter of the Covenant, the brunt of that unpleasantness often falls on the shoulders of the Justicar. As a result, those shoulders must absolutely be both broad and strong in order to carry the weight of the office and responsibilities therein. And, on occasion, those shoulders must be lowered and brought to bear in the face of controversy, criticism, and open hostility. Sometimes, the only way around is through.

Taigikori is one such Justicar. In his tenure he has had to face some of the Brotherhood's most controversial cases. He has had to make tough decisions for the good of us all and he has had to do it under intense scrutiny from every corner of the club. He has done so with dignity, competence, and fairness. No more could be asked. No more could be given. Such is the work of the Justicar.

For his service and contributions spanning many a trying time, it is only fitting that Taigikori join the ranks of the Elders and with that, bear all the responsibilities and enjoy all the privileges therein.

Thank you for all you have done from a grateful Brotherhood.

Raken, Deputy Grand Master

Sarin's recommendation:

The Justicar of the Dark Brotherhood can be the sleepiest of positions for months at a time. It is the one position that we require less of when things are going exceptionally well. The test of the Justicar is not those times, but in the times where things are not going well. We need Justicars who are capable of handling their duties in accordance with the Covenant when they are called upon. This includes cases that are unpopular or cases that require the punishment of popular members.

Unfortunately the nature of the job results in Justicars receiving an exceptional amount of criticism and very little praise. Thankfully, we have the systems in place to ensure our JSTs are rewarded and this system is one of them. Taigy has had his fair share of criticism and has taken his fair share of lumps, but he has done his job and he has done it with the best interests of our club in his heart. We can't ask any more than that from the JSTs. His promotion to the Elder ranks of our club is commensurate with his maturity in facing the adversity of his position with skill and elan.

Thanks for your hard work and patience.

GM Pravus, Voice of the Dark Brotherhood

In a club such as ours there are always those who are seen unfavorably due to the position that they hold. One of these people that is seen in bad light is Taigikori, as Justicar of the Brotherhood, he is easily the most disliked person in the club. As a member of his staff for the last couple of months, I have been thrown into a part of the Brotherhood that i've never known before. This club is built on a foundation that gives members certain rights and protections and when one of these are broken, a member finds themselves before the Chamber of Justice. Taigikori has shown that he is repeatedly up to the challenges of the very unpopular job, even when he has had a book of insults thrown at him or his judgement thrown into question he has always remained steadfast and stands by the Covenant in how to handle the situations. The job of Justicar is a hard one, it leaves those who wear the hat in an unpopular spot and it is quite thankless, however I am writing this recommendation for a promotion of Taigikori as a way to say thank for the work he has done.

Exarch Teu, Left Hand of Justice

Taigikori's first action as Justicar was to appoint me as his Left Hand of Justice and I have been on his team since that time. I have seen first hand the work that he has put into his duties and the pressure that he has been under, as is a large part of his job. Despite jabs, insults, and profanities thrown his way, he has been unshakable as Justicar of the Brotherhood. He never allows his personal feelings to get in the way of ensuring a fair and impartial trial and considers all of the evidence at hand prior to making a decision on an action. All of this is what every Justicar is required to do and be.

Two major amendments have occurred under his tenure: extending the HoJ terms and Appeals Panel terms by 6 and 3 months, respectively; creating the Electorate, which adds the Quaestors of Houses not affiliated with Clans to any vote required by the Dark Council as dictated by the Covenant. He has presided over eight cases since taking the reins from Kir and his performance in all of them, regardless of how unpopular the results may have been, has been exemplary. I have watched him dismiss cases the instant he sees exculpatory evidence. He is also the first Justicar to send a trial to the Appeals Panel to ensure that the Covenant had been followed to the letter when he saw the size and scope of a case that shook the foundations of this club.

Despite the questions of his character, the personal attacks on him, the off-colour and backhanded comments thrown his way, he remains unshakable. He has served nearly two years of excellent duty as Justicar in the Brotherhood and I am proud to recommend that Taigikori Aybara be promoted to the rank of Dark Side Adept to join the Elders of this great club.

Alaris Jinn, Right Hand of Justice

The Brotherhood has a lot of myriad roles, and not many are more reviled than that of Justicar. The Justicar is our executioner, our tax collector, our police man. This is a role that every society must have to maintain order, but no one wants to deal with them personally.

It is not a well loved position, to be the one who must punish those who do wrong. Three times in the last 9 months, there have been high profile cases coming throuh the chamber. These cases polarize individuals, make them feel so strongly that it's easy for our members to forget decorum.

Ultimately, it is one of the most difficult positions, and one of the least recognized by the populace. The amount of work that he has to do, the amount of stress he goes through is unbelievable. And yet, he has had enough time to work on various other projects within the club. And it seems that every time he clears a hurdle and looks for some new place to make his mark in a more positive way, more of the negative work pops up for him to take care of.

Now, a normal member would only be able to take so much of this. They'd keep their cool for a short while, then resign. But this is not Taigikori's way. He has plowed through it, bearing the brunt of anger and converting it into creative energy. He worked to help grade vendetta events up to the crusade. He has worked behind the scenes to try to improve the brotherhood from the perspective of his old haunt, the shadow academy. He has worked to help finetune the covenant, which gets tested with each and every case. Yet, none of this work gets the attention that he gets when he wears the black hood.

It's important, though. Important and worth noticing.

You are among very few people who can do this, among very few who could thrive under that stress and come back for seconds. Taigikori has been an elder for some time. It's time we recognize that on his dossier.

Thank you.

~Muz Ashen, Dark Lord of the Sith.

Additional reasons

Taigikori has one of the most difficult jobs in the Brotherhood. As Justicar he has to make decisions that decide people's fate when they screw up. This year alone he has more then earned his paycheck (if he got paid, that is). We have had several situations requiring his services and each time he has dealt with each one to the best of his abilities and in accordance with our Covenant, has issued forth penalties based on the evidence of each offense and the seriousness of it. Each time has been met with disquiet dissolution by one or more people involved. Taigs has taken each situation and did his job accordingly, regardless of the persecution he may have been met with. As such, and because he doesn't get paid to do this, it is with great honor that I recommend him for this promotion to Darkside Adept and to take his place among the rank of elder.

Darkness entombed the corridors of the Arconan Citadel as rain pounded against the building. It was a cold and long night, for those up at least. Sabers could be heard locking together from one of the training rooms inside of the mighty building, a white blade connecting with an opposing blue blade. As the two sparing combatants broke away from each other, it was clear that one of them was far superior to the other.

“You still need to pick up your skills, though you have come a long way.” He told him, his voice calm even in the violent situation he was putting his opponent in.

Before the Journeyman even had a chance to speak, the Primarch was bounding forward, his two blades aiming to decapitate his opponent straight away. Forced onto his back foot, the Jedi Hunter brought his blade up to block. Before he could realise what was happening, the Equite’s saber dropped out of his grip, his hand making contact with the Ryn’s nose, hearing a wet, shattering crack as the bone snapped, sending blood dripping down the man’s face as he reeled back.

“Again, you left yourself open.” The Zabrak admonished, his eyes darting to the door before it even opened. Atyiru, the House Aedile, stepped through, coming towards the men, summoned to speak by the Quaestor. He waited for her words.

“They are ready for you.” She informed him. It seemed that Cethgus had not been telling the Ryn the whole truth about this little training session from the outset.

Nodding, his hands quickly put his sabers away, summoning the one that now lay useless on the floor with nothing but a simple flick of his wrist as he clipped the blade to his belt. Giving the Ryn but a spare second to do the same, he motioned for Kordath to follow his two superiors out the door.

Walking down the corridors, it soon dawned on the Jedi Hunter that he had never been into this area of the Citadel, although for a Journeyman that isn't that surprising at all. Finally, the two of them reached a dark door with the Arcona symbol engraved into it, the wood gleamingly clean, as if it had been polished every day since its creation.

Atyiru allowed her hand to extend knocking on the door clearly as she waited for a reply to her inquiry about entering this place. She got the response as the door creaked open, allowing the three of them to enter the mysterious office.

“Kordath, you have been summoned here for your recent action in the Crusades, as well as in response to the studies you have undertaken.” The voice that greeted him from the darkness was clear as day, belonging to none other than Marick, the Consul of Arcona.

“Due to all of your work and devotion, we see it fit to elevate you into the ranks of the Dark Jedi Knights. Welcome to Knighthood. Savor this moment, and know that your true test to this Clan has only just begun.” With these seemingly simple words, it was over, all the work, all the pain he endured, all the terrifying and life-threatening encounters. He had finally made it.

Kordath was finally a Knight of Clan Arcona.

..........

I am honoured to see Kordath finally reach the rank of Knighthood his hard work and dedication to the Brotherhood and Clan Arcona has seen him finally achieve the end goal for any Journeymen inside of the club. He is a constant presence in the Dark Crusades as well as outside of them becoming a friendly and known member of Arcona.

Though others have spoken about what he has done since his last promotion I am going to take the time to tell you about him and what work he does outside of the trials. Since Kordath joined he was a quiet member of Clan Arcona but that soon changed. He has got involved straight away inside of the Dark Crusades being a regular member in events and showing his support to the clan in its previous victories. He is always offering his help out to others as well as not being afraid to ask for help when it is needed. He has often spoken to myself and others about any work that is required and has been welcomed with open arms in doing such. He works hard and keeps himself driven in anything he does, for this he expects nothing in return. He is a true asset of both House Galeres and Clan Arcona.

Congratulations Kordath I see you finally made it to the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, your hard work recently is truly appreciated keep it up and keep driving to achieve higher inside the club. I look forward to seeing what you do.

Additional reasons

The time’s finally come, and I couldn’t be happier for it. I’m honestly delighted to be recommending Kordath Bleu for his promotion from Jedi Hunter to Dark Jedi Knight. Kordath has been a beacon of activity, hard work, and good laughs among the Clan, and in doing so, has bettered the entirety of the Brotherhood.

Kordath, much like his character, hit the ground running (although for different reasons). He’s been a majorly active member since the beginning and went flying up through the ranks. Since his last promotion, he’s been especially busy, and has completed all the requirements for his next rank as designated by the Master at Arms office. He was awarded a merit medal, an Anteian Cross for his efforts and placement in Galeres’ Homcoming events, as well as his dedication to advancing in the Shadow Academy. In the same fold, he’s collected plenty of competition awards, from both House-run events and from participation in the Dark Crusade events. He has also submitted to eighteen different competitions, including [Homecoming] The Death Walkers, [Homecoming] Run-On, Homecoming: Trivia, Homecoming: Poetry, Homecoming: Caption Comp, [Homecoming] The Butterfly Effect, [Homecoming] Survive the Horde!, [Homecoming] Did I Stay at a Holidy Inn Express Last Night...?, [Homecoming] A Galeres event, Crusade P2C1 Svolten: (Poetry) Inspiration in War, Crusade P2C1 Svolten: (Run-on) The Chain of Duty, Svolten (General Forces) - Gaming, [Dark Crusade P2:C1] Svolten - Valuable Resources (General Forces), Crusade P2C1 Svolten: (Fiction 1) Assault, Crusade P2C1 Svolten: (Fiction 2) Infectious Madness, Crusade P2C2 Kalsunor: (MultiMedia) These things before, Crusade P2C2 Kalsunor: (Fiction) Gravity, and Crusade P2C2 Kalsunor: (Gaming) The Swarm). And, besides participating in all these competitions, he also ran one for his fellow members, a Trivia event on IRC.

Furthermore, Kordath has also been hard at work studying at the Shadow Academy and displaying his fictional abilities as he expanded his knowledge of the Brotherhood and worked to help his Clan, managing to earn a Dark Maven in Philosophy. He has completed a quality character wiki article, providing a detailed history for his slightly-less-cowardly and humorous character. In the same vein, he helped the Clan by completing further wiki work for his House Summit Task. Despite being busy doing all this, he also managed to turn out a brilliant, truly entertaining fifteen-page fiction assignment as designated by his House Summit. And, while eagerly committing to all this work, he was also patient (as any Knight should be) and waited the designated time requirement of forty-two days as a Jedi Hunter. Now, at least, his patience had paid off.

I will let the accomplishments above and any other accolades he receives speak for themselves; but suffice to say, Kordath has more than earned the title of Dark Jedi Knight. A huge congratulations, my friend, and very well done. You’re a gem, and a brilliant one. Remember that when you’re chasing even higher goals among the Brotherhood in the future, because we can’t wait to see what’s next.

Welcome to Knighthood.

Kordath Bleu is the latest of our Dark Jedi Knight candidates. Like the others before him, he has shown the diligence needed to achieve this milestone and, as Clan Rollmaster, I am delighted to see him ready to claim his lightsaber.

As my colleagues Cethgus and Atyiru have already said, Kordath has shown himself to be one of the many jewels in the crown that is Clan Arcona.

Good work, Kordath. Enjoy your lightsaber.
