Through his consistency and activity, Maaks has become one of Arconaâs stalwarts. Having been a member of our great clan since even before I arrived, Maaks has proven himself to be an extremely talented, very well-liked, and very hard-working member of Arcona. As it will become clear later on in this recommendation when Sang provides some of the more detailed analyses of Maaksâ accolades, successes and overall tenure within the clan, this esteemed member of Arcona has become one of the clanâs pillars. Faith is invested in him, and results always follow.
I have always been impressed with Maaksâ work ethic, his drive, and his unabated talent. He is an inspiration to us all, and his exuberance, passion and drive serve to remind us all why it is that we participate in this club at times. Often, many of us can be shadowed and jaded by the events of this club. Maaks, on the other hand, has always been positive, active, and willing. That kind of consistent dedication (and consistency is key, as Sang will demonstrate) is what defines Maaks as a member of the Shadow Clan, and as a friend to us all.

Few members bring a genuine smile to my face when they send in submissions to a competition. And few members have I had the privilege of watching grow up over the course of their DB career. When I first got to the DB, Maaks, or Maxi as we like to call him was a fellow Battleteam Leader, so I go ta chance to work with him that way. In the time since then, I've had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of writing, graphics, and submissions for various Clan Competitions, including the Arcona Family Feud, Operation: Rolling Thunder, and Trials of Loyalty. His creative ability is really something special, and his easy going nature and willingness to help others is contagious - and as a result he challenges and makes the members around him better. As a writer, I've watched him go from being a nervous kid to a wonderful, creative painter of words. His most recent Contract for the ACB was graded as "E" for Excellent (the highest grade), and is a real tribute to how far he has progressed and become an integral part of Arcona. I think he has gone above and beyond the trials of a typical Dark Jedi Knight, and deserves the rank of Templar and to join us cool kids in the Equite ranks :).

Iâm never sure how to start off with leading recs, but here goes. Maaks has been in Arcona for a bloody long time and Iâve counted him as a friend for just as long. Maaks isnât always one of those members who are active 24/7, 365 days a year. Noâ¦heâs one of those who turn up during events and absolutely decimates them and then makes us wonder why the hell heâs still a DJK. In the time since his promotion to Dark Jedi Knight, Maaks has racked up 25 crescents of varying levels. Heâs earned 5 Crescents with Topaz stars, 1 Crescent with Quartz star, 8 Crescents with Emerald stars for achieving 3rd in the Family Feud week 3 poem event and 3rd overall in the Family Feud event that was run within Arcona. As well as getting 1st in the Create a Lightsaber competition, 1st in Operation Rolling Thunder weeks 1 and 2 trivia, 3rd in the Operation Rolling Thunder Arcona Bureau Contract event, 1st in the ORT week 2 caption comp and 1st in ORTâs week 3 codebreaker. He has also earned 5 Crescents with Sapphire stars for achieving 2nd in the Family Feud week 3 Multimedia event, 1st in the Family Feud weeks 3 and 4 Initialisation events and 1st in Operation Rolling Thunderâs weeks 1 and 2 Codebreaker events. Added to this, Maaks has earned another 6 Crescent with Amethyst stars for his first place gfx entries for the Family Feud weeks 2 and 3 gfx events. He also got 2nd place in the âYear in Haikuâ event run by Halc while he was serving as VOICE and getting 1st place in Operation Rolling Thunderâs weeks 2 and 3 gfx events. His final Crescent with Amethyst star was awarded for coming in 2nd place overall in Operation Rolling Thunder.
So from looking at that impressive award list, Maaks has shown more than enough dedication and activity to be promoted to Krath Priest. But letâs go into more detail on other things that Maaks has done. Maaks has gotten a Seal of Decimation and a Cluster of Ice during his time as a DJK for his work as well as a Dark Cross for the wiki work he did for Galeres, editing the main page and adding to the lore of the militant House of the Shadow Clan. Finally in his long list of activity and awesomeness, Maaks overshadowed many other Arconans and plenty of non-Arconans in the sheer number of entries he submitted during the first two weeks of the Dark Crusade. He submitted 5 entries, for the âThe Huntâ gfx event, the Ancient Stones fiction, the Target: Tor Siva fiction, the SA Cryptology exam and he contributed quite a bit to Team Arcownageâs wiki page entry for Krayiss II which has netted him a potential Silver Nova when theyâre awarded.
Maaks contributed to 4.19% of Arconaâs total entries, a hell of a lot higher than many other Arconans. So, Iâve talked about what heâs doneâ¦time to now talk about Maaks himself. Maaks is one of those Arconans beloved by all. Heâs quiet and often lurks but as soon as he comes on IRC, heâs mobbed by others, a clear sign of how valued his presence is within the Shadow Clan by his peers. He is one of my stalwarts in Galeres, when he returned from his last LoA, I was overcome with joy at the thought of the entries heâd soon be submitting to the Dark Crusade. A selfish thought indeed, but I thought of how much of a quiet motivator he is, not with his words, but with his actions. Maaks is a damned fine member of Galeres and now heâs a damned fine Equite.
Congratulations, Maaks. Welcome to the brotherhood within the Brotherhood and join your brothers and sisters in the ranks of the Equites.

I am honoured to be recommending Maaks for his promotion to Obelisk Templar. He has been an exemplary member inside of Clan Arcona. Though it is a big step for a member to reach the Equite Ranks, he is one of those members deserving of that rank. As Sanguinius stated above his activity has been constantly of a high standard, since being promoted to Dark Jedi Knight.
I would like to take the time to look at him from a different perspective, focusing on him as a person and a member rather than him in terms of activity. He has a reputation of being approachable, friendly and more than willing to help any member with anything they require. More than that, members look up to him during events, his activity is always seen on the front lines. As stated before he is a constant presence inside of the Arcona IRC Channel, dispensing wisdom and humour to the masses. He takes the time inside of his busy day to interact with members, helping new members and old alike. He is helping to constantly make House Galeres and Clan Arcona active day to day, with no thought of his own personal reward.
For all of the reasons that have been stated during this recommendation, I feel that Maaks is more than deserving of this promotion to the Equite ranks. Congratulations on this elevation and keep up the hard work in the future.

Maaks is one of those members who doesn't personify activity, but is still a huge asset to whichever unit has him. He is charismatic, loyal, funny, and when he sets his mind to something, he is indomitable. His recent performance in Phase One of the Dark Crusade is testament to this. Working with him is always a pleasure, as I've yet to meet a member who thinks things through on the same level of detail as him, and his unconventional way of approaching problems is often a much needed voice for me in particular.
