This is one of those promotions that are such a given that you really don't need anyone specifically recommending it. If it wasn't for Orv, the Dark Brotherhood would not be able to modernize and grow. Period. Coding is such an integral part of this club, or very growth dependent on the ability to expand the capabilities of our website and offer more variety to our members. There is only so much any of us can do with the current tools we have. Orv is a godsend in borkified form...he has singlehandedly began the process of basically fixing our site so that it conforms to more modern standards, while introducing new facets to the website. I know everyone will talk about the new "Prestige" rankings we have, but what makes it even more remarkable is that this little rank has been a theory for over 5 years. Orv has made it a reality. Combine that with his continuing graphic work (as seen with the Disorder-website he designed) and all of the enhancements he has made to the website (especially the Admin areas recently), and it is very clear that he deserves this promotion. Orv has been one of our code monkeys for a long time now. His presence has been amazing, even after his retirement from SCL. Now as Praetor, Orv commands the board with his massive knowledge of PHP and personable work ethic. In the 11 months since I wrote him a reccomendation for EQ3, Orv has been a blessing to the Dark Council and the Brotherhood as a whole. In the Shadow Academy alone, he spent hours upon hours fixing email glitches and tweaking the degrees to notify the proper people after over a year of inconsistent and glitchy emails. On top of this, he reorganized the training tab (along with all the dossier tabs) to reflect a more modern and centered forum to check one's scores. He removed the extremely outdated Character Histories which lifts a huge load off of the Headmaster's Office. All of the above is simply his work within the Shadow Academy...his other Brotherhood work, I'm sure Muz and the others will touch on, but I will recap on some more SA intimate projects. The Grind Path, more specifically the Grind Path sub-feature "Career Preferences" is being coded solely by Orv alone, which will go hand in hand with our Dark Brotherhood of the new decade. Throw this in with all the work he's done on possessions, the newly released Prestige System, and the coding of the last couple Vendettas...I'm honestly surprised it took us this long to promote him. On behalf of the Dark Council, Shadow Academy, and Brotherhood at large, I'm honored to do my small part in recommending Orv be elevated to the rank of Equite 4. Congratulations. Douche. Douche. There's really not enough that I can say about Orv. Even as Praetor, his work ethic has been stronger than several Dark Councilors that I have seen. And boy, do we need him. His assistance in modernizing and streamlining our site has been crucial. His work towards programs yet to be released has been outstanding and keep me eagerly anticipating emails from him. It is his skill and ambition to see the club in a better place that helps motivate the rest of us that generate content for the club. His work not only includes the obvious Prestige program that was recently released, but also the slow conversion of the site to PHP, the GMrG coding, the ACC society rewards coding, enhancements to the MAA scripts and probably a dozen other things that swarm my mind to the point where singling them out is impossible. Orv is well on his way to Elder, and it's definitely time for his official rank to show that. Thank you again, for everything you do, Orv. Sutekh has completed his requirement to the rank of Acolyte by taking and passing the Brotherhood Basics course, as well as completing the ACC Basics, Wiki Basics, Lightsaber Studies, Advanced Lightsaber Studies, Combat Tactics I and Combat Tactics II.

As if this was not enough, Sutekh has logged into IRC and joined both #db and #taldryan and begun conversation with his fellow Housemates and other Brotherhood members. Added along with the above, Sutekh has created a DJB Message Board account and posted a welcoming message in the Taldryan and DB threads.

It's clear that Sutekh is eager to continue his knowledge in the dark side, as well as becoming active with his fellow DJB members. For this reason and his stellar work in completing his promotion requirements I am happy to promote Sutekh to the rank of Acolyte!

Congratulations Sutekh, keep it up!

<I>Jedi Hunter Maaks sat motionless, facing Dajorra's falling sun, eyes half-closed and straining to watch its dying rays.<BR><BR>  Upon the creation of his lightsaber, he had been brought here by the Consul,personally, to a circular dais atop Arcona Citadel on Selen. It was the first time he had been allowed to the Ziggurat's upper levels: the Holy of Holies of Clan Arcona, where its greatest secrets lay. And, he suspected, if he failed in his tasks, it might well be the last time.<BR><BR>  The last rays dipped beneath the horizon, and a final ray of light seemed to linger, just moments, on the Jedi Hunter's face.<BR><BR>  It had been an apparently easy task: Meditate, without calling upon the Dark Side, without food or drink, with the sun full in the sky, from dawn to dusk. The Quaestor had given a simple but forceful warning as the Jedi Hunter had set himself down for meditation: Failure to obey would be met with death. After that, the Clan's leader had requisitioned the Journeyman's lightsaber and left him to his own devices.  Darkness creeped forward as the sun finally disappeared, cloaking the Journeyman in shadow. Night had fallen.<BR><BR>  Wordlessly, the Jedi Hunter stood and turned around.  Figures, robed, with lightsabers in-hand, stood upon the ziggurat, apparently waiting. Maaks recognized many of them: Arconae, Summit and other luminaries, each important within the Clan. Still others stood silent and hooded, wordless and hidden. And before them all stood Zandro Erinos Arconae, Lord of the Shadow Clan.<BR><BR>  "Jedi Hunter Maaks," intoned the Quaestor, "you have come before us seeking to be elevated, have you not?"<BR><BR>  Maaks nodded, eyes downcast. "I have, Master".<BR><BR> "Then understand that any hesitation, any disobedience, any defiance will result in death. Do you?"<BR><BR>  Again, the Jedi Hunter gave a nod, more cautiously this time. This elevation seemed unlike any other trial within the House…there was an unspecified sense that told him that his very life was at stake, here. Around, the gathered Arconans seemed to tense just slightly, and fingers hovered over an activation button. "I do, Master."<BR><BR>  "Very well then," said the Consul. "What makes you believe you are ready to become one of us?"<BR><BR>  An easy question, to begin with. "I have finished all tasks set before me by the Summit, and brought each to a good end."<BR><BR>  "Oh?" the Quaestor snarled, suddenly, as his face contorted with disgust. "You mean the construction of this trinket?"<BR><BR>  Zandro reached within the folds of his robe, taking out a small cylinder.<BR><BR>  Maaks recognized it instantly. It was his lightsaber.<BR><BR>  The Jedi Hunter looked at the Quaestor, shocked. "Yes," he said weakly, as Zandro weighed the weapon in his hand.<BR><BR>  The Quaestor snorted contemptuously, and tossed the weapon off the ziggurat without so much as another glance.<BR><BR>  "No!" Maaks screamed, heedless of protocol. There, tumbling through the air, was a work of months: Something that the Jedi Hunter had poured his heart, his soul, and all his skill with the Dark Side in to create. And it was about to be unceremoniously destroyed by another's hand. It felt like someone ripping out his heart.<BR><BR>  And suddenly, that void within his chest was filled with anger. And power.<BR><BR>  Maaks reached out a hand as fury spilled into his eyes and face, all propriety forgotten. The weapon abruptly reversed course, flashing to life before it had even finished settling in his hand. In a single, fluid motion, the Jedi Hunter ran through his Quaestor with the shimmering blade of his own making. <BR><BR> The Quaestor seemed puzzled for a moment, as he stared at the Journeyman. Then, a smile appeared on his face. "Very well," Arcona's ruler managed to get out, before collapsing into shadow. <BR><BR>  Maaks looked around, expecting the gathered Arconans to reach for him any moment now, but no such attack seemed forthcoming. Instead, the Arconae and Summit had their lightsabers still in-hand…but they appeared overall more relaxed, and some were even smiling. <BR><BR>  "Congratulations," a voice said. <BR><BR>  </I>But..no! That's impossible!<I> thought the Jedi Hunter, as one of the previously hooded figures removed said hood…only to show the face of Quaestor Zandro Erinos Arconae. <BR><BR>  Then, comprehension dawned. </I>Of course. A Force Wraith.<I><BR><BR>  The Quaestor approached him, seemingly without fear or tension. "You have learned the final lesson of the Dark Side." <BR><BR>  " It's…about power, isn't it?" Maaks ventured. <BR><BR>  "It's </I>always<I>about power," the Quaestor replied, smiling slightly. "But yes. The final lesson is this: Power is never given away. It is always taken. If someone should block your path, strike him down. Even if that someone is me." <BR><BR>  The Jedi Hunter nodded, comprehension dawning. Around him, the gathered Arconans lit their weapons, one by one. Around the ziggurat itself, on lower levels, others responded in kind, until the night sky was lit by dozens of separate weapons. <BR><BR>  "So…what will it be?" Zandro asked, bringing forth a lightsaber of his own. "Do you claim the mantle of the Dark Jedi Knight?" <BR><BR>  Maaks understood. Nodding slowly, he lit his lightsaber and raised it high. A hundred Arconans followed suit.<BR><BR>  Triumphant and ascendant, the newly frocked Dark Jedi Knight was first to shout as a hundred sabers pierced the sky:<BR><BR>  "ARCONA INVICTA!"</I><BR><BR>  I,Timeros Caesus Entar Arconae, hereby request a promotion for Jedi Hunter Maaks, who has fulfilled all requirements for promotion under the Dark Jedi Brotherhood's promotion guidelines, as follows:<BR><BR>  Maaks has been a Jedi Hunter for over six weeks.<BR><BR>  Maaks has earned a Dark Cross for his services. <BR><BR>  Maaks has earned a Crescent with Amethyst Star for his competition activity. <BR><BR>  Maaks has participated in the following five competitions: One Vendetta event, Spoils of War, Hymn of Victory, Wun's Movie Quotes, Voice Haiku competition<BR><BR>  Maaks has completed the following two Shadow Academy Leadership Exams: Leadership Studies, Leadership Fundamentals<BR><BR>  Maaks has created and run the following competition: Blind leading the blind<BR><BR>  Maaks has performed the following major House Task: Maaks has spent several months leading the Sukhur's Legion and Black Hammer Battleteams.<BR><BR>
