Rian is a highly trained Half-mirialan with a pale golden-tannish, almost olive skin, well defined muscles and eyes that emanate in a piercing azure-blue. The son of a Human mother and a Mirialan father, he stands at 6'2 which is defined to be a bit taller than average by near-human standards. He wears his hair trimmed neatly except for a slightly longer mop of blueish-black colored hair on top of his head and like other members of the mirialan species, his face and the backsides of his hands were dotted with dark symmetrical tattoos signifying his ascendency throughout his Clan and the Brotherhood. Being the only exception to this he proudfully wears a single tattoo of a flame on his right shoulder, the traditional mark of the Phoenix Phyle, his first command within Taldryan.
Rian has a strong, cheerful attitude and hides whatever worries him by acting optimistic After all if everyone is too busy whining and groaning about the negatives, how will anyone ever reach for the positive? True, Rian Aslar's constant happy-go-lucky attitude can rub people the wrong way, especially pessimists or those just level-headed enough to realize when things truly are going downhill, but exactly this constant positive outlook can serve to sometimes win over others when it feels like the world just wants to run havoc upon them.
Being referred to as "too stubborn to die", Rian Aslar is defined by his relentless optimistic nature and heroic demeanor but overall carries a soft, and caring spot. If a member of Taldryan is in danger, he would go extraordinary lengths to protect his brethren, with little regard for his own safety without hesitation. This attitude, however, often clouds his ability to see things from an arbitrary or objective point of view and he can come off as extremely narrow-minded.
Rian is impulsive and fearless, not afraid to push his limits even against insurmountable odds and rarely retreats. However the events since his ascendency as Consul of Taldryan have gradually stripped him of parts of his energetic personality that earned him the nickname "Ri-guy" from his closest friend, and former Master Shaz'air Taldrya. The boldness, the inescapable tendency to impetuosity: All of that is still there, but it is now lessened by a sense of maturity.
Rian Aslar is moral and dedicated and takes pride in his membership in Taldryan. He is honor-bound to protect his brethren, and nothing can stand between him and his honor and pride. He views the lightsaber given to him by his Master, Shaz'air Taldrya during his Knighting ceremony as a symbol of his honor, and therefore, to damage it would represent damage to his honor, and he refrains from using it as much as possible.
Rian is driven by a fierce dedication to succeed in combat; no matter the mission, no matter the cost. Utterly devoted, he represents a philosophy where the only way to evolve and grew stronger is to spend his life building himself in the image of warfare; utilizing dogmatic training - often too arduous and demanding, both mental and physically - for most of those around him. Rian's philosophy formed a man, whose strength of mind is as impressive as that of his body - for his rank and position require far more than power found in muscle alone.
Leverage, position, advantage – A natural fencer, Rian Taldrya prefers to wear out his opponents through the use of agility and evasion. Even during the early stages of his training under the tutelage of the Taldryan Elders, he showed the ability to instinctively apply the lessons learned in duels. This was the reason, Rian Taldrya chose to specialize in Makashi. he also studied K'thri, and is fond of chaining hand-to-hand combat techniques into his lightsaber sequences.
However, Makashi's weaknened efficiency against groups of opponents prompted Rian Taldrya to abandon the Form as his favored combat style, though he mastered it nonetheless. Rian Taldrya began studying the highly kinetic Shien lightsaber form to compensate for Makashi's aforementioned inabilities. Though Shien became his favored Lightsaber form, Rian Taldrya implements elements of Makashi into his swordplay from time to time.
