The Master at Arms process is like intricate clockwork -- every piece must be in place and moving else the entire structure falls. Over the last seven months, Rial has been one of those integral pieces. Since his promotion several months ago, he has continued to develop as a Magistrate and future leader of this club: quick request responses, articulate and intelligent contributions to MAA discussions, and near constant online presence all add up to a lasting and memorable impression left on this office by Rial. He will be missed on my team, but I also know greater things await in his future. I am excited to continue working alongside him. Thank you, Rial, for your immaculate service and dedication.

Rial's term as a Master at Arms Magistrate has been damn impressive. Since his first day, he's been ideal - willing to learn and ask policy/procedure questions, and was always willing to listen to an alternative viewpoint on a pending recommendation. Most important of all? Rial was active. ACtive as crap. When a competition or medal needed to be processed? It was more than likely to be Rial. If there was an important recommendation that needed to be discussed? Rial was involved. I think the Brotherhood is a better place for his efficient work, his ability to learn, and his overall dedication to the Master at Arms Office. Congratulations!

Howlader Taldrya, 2015-03-07 15:12:11 UTC

Since his last promotion, Rial has continued his same level of attention and diligence to his MAA duties over a period of time that most certainly warrants a Steel Cross for his efforts.

It has been great getting to know Rial over the past 6+ months on the MAA staff, as a professional and hard working member of the DJB. His quick responses and contributions across a wide range of medals, promotions, and policies have had a lasting impact on the DJB that is difficult to quantify, but is nonetheless real. I have no doubts that he will continue to have this same impact and success in anything he applies himself to in the future.

Congratulations Rial!

Primary reason

Orion Aries Rial came to us in June 2013 from Taldryan. He said he thought that helping Tarentum was a worthy cause, and we've been glad to have him around. He is an avid gamer, and has brought in a steady stream of CoFs for JA matches ever since first joining Tarentum and before that in Taldryan. He won a Gold Nova for gaming in the battle for Ch'hodos, as well as a Gold Nova for gaming in round three of Fading Light. It is this consistency of excellence that I admire the most. He never asks for recognition, he never seeks attention, but he delivers consistently month after month. Given Tarentum's current effort to rebuild our core membership, Rial has been exactly the kind of reliable Tarenti we need to form our critical mass. He is every bit as important to Tarentum's recovery as anyone else has been, and we have been delighted to have him with us.

Recently we've seen Orion branching out and trying some new things. He has excelled in the Shadow Academy, completing several courses and higher degrees that are among the most challenging the school has to offer. He has also been working in a new position as M:MAA which is a great opportunity for him to start making a name for himself outside of Tarentum, and to have a real, meaningful impact on the Brotherhood as a whole.

It is this branching out, trying new things and working to improve the Brotherhood that defines the transition from Journeyman and Dark Jedi Knight to Equite. The familiar structure of promotion requirements becomes much more vague, and it is up to each Knight to find his or her own path. Rial has begun to do exactly that.

I, and many others, are honored to recognize Rial with a very well deserved elevation to the first rank of the Equites.

A lot of the recommendations you see here deal with specifics, which I could also recite with ease, but I would like to give you a different view. DJK Rial is an amazing member of the DJB and here is why. A lot of us have been members for awhile. We have been around long enough to have rise, fall, then rise again. The DJB is home to us, but it is also old. We've been there, we've done that. To DJK Rial, the entire DJB is like a candy box and he is consuming every last bite. He has been an amazing Tarenti. More so than I saw in quite a while. He has almost completely chewed through the SA. He is climbing the GMRG with ease. He is participating in comps. He also holds a position with the MAA Office. He is doing everything that any leader would want their members to do. Honestly, I can't see a reason not to promote him. But I believe above all, he truly loves this club. He wants to see it grow. So in turn, I would like to see DJK Rial grow as well and be promoted to EQ1.

Warlord Hades, 2014-11-07 05:42:46 UTC

I would like to congratulate my apprentice on this elevation to the Equite ranks. Even though he and I were in different units from one another during both his apprenticeship and since his promotion to Dark Jedi Knight, Rial and I have maintained a great master/student relationship Rial was an absolute beast in gaming this past that has continued on with mentoring him as he became a more mature member in the club. His growth has become evident by his branching out into the Shadow Academy, PvP gaming, and being more involved in the Brotherhood at large with his position in the MAA office. His position in the GMRG is ever increasing (about to join the ranks of the elite Guardsman), and I applaud his decision to become more involved in the leadership of his House as he moves up in the Brotherhood. Good work!

General Kell Palpatine Dante, 2014-11-07 05:43:20 UTC

The others writing recommendations will likely discuss, at length, exactly why Rial is so deserving of this big step out of the ranks of the Journeymen and into the Equites, but I wanted to cover one area in particular that he's particularly impressed me in: the Shadow Academy. Rial has really adopted the mentality that we've been fostering that the Shadow Academy is no longer just for new members, but instead for all of us. He's attacked the courses and degrees with a frenzy, while also racking up a truly impressive number of Clusters of Fire and maintaining a high degree of IRC activity.

He's pushed himself to excel in some truly difficult corners of the SA (I speak here from personal experience) such as the Dark Mavens for Web Design and Web Scripting and the Dark Savant for Programming. These three degrees can't be acquired with a few simple SA courses, you have to actually go and program for them. They can't be knocked out in a few hours but require a few days. Even though they've been out for months, as of the writing of this recc, the Mavens for Web Design and Web Scripting have been awarded nine and six times respectively, while the Savant - Programming has been awarded seven. Rial is one of them.

Rial has more than served the time-in-grade as a Dark Jedi Knight, and for the reasons I (and others) have listed above I happily join in to recommend him for promotion to EQ1. Keep on rocking, Rial, and congrats!

Adept Farrin Xies Tarentae, 2014-11-07 05:43:53 UTC

When reviewing applications for the MAA Magistrate positions, I specifically sought younger members who could most benefit from the experience and training. I did not want those who already know how the system works; I wanted those who could learn the system and then spread it through their unit in what will undoubtedly be a long career of leadership and greatness. This method is risky. Rial was my first risk, my first chance move as MAA, and I have not been disappointed in the slightest.

Rial is at the three month mark as an M:MAA, halfway through his term, and he has left a lasting impression so much I want to help promote him now (I made a personal pledge he wouldn't leave this office DJK). He is a consistent contributor to our conversations both about requests and policy, looking into member history and providing insight and analysis into whatever medal or promotion is sought after. He is also one of the fastest turnaround staffers I have, reviewing and approving the basic stuff within hours. Additionally, he follows through on more specific requests I pass him in the same short time frame -- things like correcting competition details, removing a duplicate medal, and more.

Rial's three consistent months of stellar MAA activity have earned him a lot on its own, but what clenches his promotion into the Equite dining hall is that he has worked with me all while also giving exemplary work in Tarentum as one of its most active members and leaders. I leave the details for Scion and Hades, but mention it to stress that while EQ1 traditionally only needs a single area of exceptional activity, Rial branches out and succeeds. Thank you for your work thus far, Rial; congratulations!

Zanet Xox, 2014-11-07 05:44:25 UTC

Rial was a force to be reckoned with in gaming this past Fading Light: Part 3 round. He took such a commanding lead so quickly that few stood to oppose him. Leadership by way of example is something we don’t always highlight, but it is something very important nonetheless. Rial has been on top of the smaller MAA administration tasks that tend to get overlooked. His turnaround times are superb and ensure that transfers and basic requests are processed and handled in a timely manner.

Congrats, Rial, and keep up the good work.
