Primary reason

Strategos is the type of member that can be difficult to reward. He’s already an Elder, and so the thought of promoting him for general activity never comes up. He doesn’t much care about medals or rewards - he competes for the sheer joy of it. He seldom draws attention to himself or his accomplishments, preferring to stay quietly in the background unless he’s specifically needed. Despite that, though, he’s a powerhouse of activity.

He was last awarded a Steel Cross six months ago. Since that time, he has been more active than many Battleteams. Over the past half year, Strategos has competed in 49 competitions, earning a staggering total of 31 Crescents for placement. Four of these were Diamonds and nine Rubies, evidence of the sheer number of members he beat out to earn them. In addition to his mountain of Crescents, he has earned over 1100 Clusters - nearly all of them Clusters of Fire, two Pendants of Blood and a Legion of the Scholar. While his achievements may not be as flashy or showy as leadership or projects, he nonetheless continues to raise the bar for what an active member can accomplish. He sets an example for his fellow Qel-Dromans, one that they are constantly striving to surpass - and I mean that quite literally. He consistently tops the ongoing leaderboard of Qel-Droman Crescent earners, and our Battleteam Leaders point to him to show new members just what is possible if they put forth the effort to compete. Moreover, he was instrumental in the formation of Arcona’s newest Battleteam, Styx - it was with his assistance that Mks and Zakath created the team and recruited the membership necessary to get the Summit’s approval.

Thank you, Strategos, for continuing to serve your House and Clan as an example that our members should strive to equal. You’ve earned this.

Additional reasons

Strat is a well-known figure in Arcona for numerous reasons, the least of which is his long-tenure and Clan title. While not boastful, his name is guaranteed to show up on every weekly Cluster Digest, every flash game competition, and an assortment of others, usually in first place. He’s something of a legend with his record, and oftentimes a milestone or champion that our members can aspire to surpass. While he no longer acts as a leader in name — despite a stint this last summer when his Clan needed him, for which he was awarded — he still acts as an advisor, a mentor, and leads instead by example with his fierce activity and quiet dedication. Strat is a stalwart member not only of the Battleteam he has helped guide to fruition, Styx, but also of House Qel-Droma and, always, Arcona as a whole.

It is for this unending service, inspiration, and consultancy that we award him today. Congratulations, brother. Enjoy finding somewhere to pin this on one of those bad shirts that isn’t already covered in crescents.

Strategos’ sheer amount of activity is nothing short of astounding. A small hill of crescents across the board from highest to lowest, more gaming awards in six months than I’ve earned in my five years in the DB. If nothing else, Strategos sets the bar for what any active member could hope to accomplish in such a short amount of time.

Whether it’s dominating gaming competitions or lending a hand in the creation of a Battleteam, Strategos serves as an inspiration that all members should aspire to, myself included. Keep up the good work, mate.
