The Day of the Fox celebrates the ascension of Grand Master Firefox to the Iron Throne by recognizing the dedication and loyalty of our membership. This tradition has historically honored a select few of our members by awarding them the Seal of Loyalty. This Day of the Fox, like many other Dark Brotherhood traditions, will be altered slightly this year.
It is with extreme gratitude that I take the extraordinary step of awarding all Clanned and Positioned members of our Club with the Seal of Loyalty. I am extremely grateful for all of your support and continued effort to make this club a great place. I look forward to experiencing this exciting year of Star Wars history with each and every one of you.

The path to Dark Jedi Knight can be daunting. The vast majority of members who sign up with the Dark Jedi Brotherhood will never make it to this rank. Many of them fail to get past the initial steps and fall flat on their face before making it out of the Shadow Academy. After that, the majority don't make it far into their new home within the Clans because the adjustment to the Dark Side can be too much. After that, again many fail to earn the armory lightsabers of the most basic Dark Jedi. Those that survive the clumsiness of these pathetic weapons may make it to the point of earning solo missions for themselves - but few return to be granted the rank of Dark Jedi Knight and be awarded the lightsaber that comes with it. Showing himself above this filth, Garloaf has earned this rank to date. Since I met him, Garloaf has been driven to earn this rank, but surprisingly has taken time along the path to serve the needs of Tarentum. Time and time again we tied in these needs to his trials because of his dedication and loyal to the unit which is surprising to see in a Journeyman in my experience. Nonetheless, its been a treat to observe this member grow and interweave himself into the unit I most treasure in this club. Five months ago when Garloaf earned the rank of Jedi Hunter I knew it was only a matter of time before we got here. In the past five months, Garloaf has been a great member of Tarentum by being a consistent competitior, submitting to 19 separate events. From these, he earned himself 6 placements. Along with this, he earned a Dark Cross from picking up the slack of the tarentum summit and running trivia for us. Garloaf has always been a contributor and that's why I wasn't surprised to hear him ask to run 2 competitions and take one a project creating recruiting material for his trials because he knew how it would benefit Tarentum. When things didn't tie in, he still knocked him out like earning himself rank 4 in the SA society or by earning 2 degrees, or even creating a wiki page for himself just to get the credit and move on to things more important to Tarentum. Again, it's been quite to treat to see Garloaf grew with his dedication to Tarentum and I am extremely honoured to have been involved in his journey to knighthood. Congrats Garloaf.

The promotion to Dark Jedi Knight is an important milestone in a person's career in the DJB, and as such the requirements are definitely not something to be taken lightly. It's my pleasure to join in this recommendation for Garloaf's promotion and show just how well he has not only met but exceeded those requirements.
For starters, he's showed not only a willingness to compete - participating in nineteen competitions - but an ability to compete well, placing in six of those competitions. He's also shown capability in the Shadow Academy, earning Dark Mavens in Philosophy and Web Design; the latter of which I know from personal experience requires a not insignificant amount of time and effort. His Wiki page and character fiction both showcase a fleshed-out character and his capable imagination.
He's also shown a willingness to help the Clan out, co-organizing with his Master, Raiju, not one but two competitions. Further, he assisted the Clan Summit with an email campaign to the former members of Tarentum in the Rogues to try and recruit them back to the active roster, a project that has seen a great deal of success and is a large part of why Tarentum has so demonstrably rebounded since the beginning of the year. For his persistence in completing his tasks and the willingness to help us succeed as a Clan, I am happy to add my voice in recommending Garloaf for promotion to Dark Jedi Knight. Congrats!

All too often, we see members get to PRT, GRD, or JH and burnout, losing interest in the club right as things are really going to take off. As a Rollmaster, this is a problem I'm acutely aware of and one that I work hard to overcome. As Raiju, his Master, says much better in his own recommendation below, however, this is not a problem we have with Garloaf, as he's aware that it's truly the slow and steady that win the race. We all complain from time to time about our RLs, but Garloaf is one that works within the confines he has to and yet still produces results - since his last promotion over a year ago, four Crescents, a Legion of the Scholar, and a Dark Cross speak wonderfully to that. I am proud to see Garloaf continue to keep his nose to the grindstone, and I am honored to recommend him for promotion to the rank of Jedi Hunter. Congrats!

It has been just over a year since Garloaf’s last promotion, which surpasses the time requirement, and I am even more excited now to write this recommendation as I was a year ago. Garloaf is an interesting character in club in comparison to how I have experienced Journeymen. Often, I run into JM that burst in with energy and scope up all the activities they can; however, more often than not these same JM enter into the Equite class and burn out because they aren’t properly prepared for the long game that is the DJB.
Garloaf, I believe, won’t have this problem.
Garloaf is a slow burn, but dependable source of energy. He’s dedicated to the House he serves, as has been proven in the activities he’s stepped up to provide for his brethren - whether it be for his direct benefit or (more importantly) not. He hosted competitions before for his promotion requirement but also just for the good of the house and that was what earned him his first merit award - satisfying another promotion requirement. Besides just being a content provider, Garloaf has also been a consumer (satisfying the competitions requirements with 15 submissions) and through his talent has earned a combined total of six 1st and 2nd place finishes (satisfying two additional requirements). Furthermore, his participation in the Shadow Academy has earned him a third tier rank within the society and he makes sure to pop on IRC when he’s RL allows him.
In the past year he has come to satisfy the promotion requirements to Jedi Hunter, and again I think it’s important to note that he’s a long game player. Garloaf takes his advancement in the DJB one step at a time, figuring out the different aspects of this club in their entirety before moving onto another platform. And therefore I think Garloaf is already ready for the challenge that is the Equite ranks and I can’t wait to get him through the last huddle that is Jedi Hunter before he can be unleashed on that class group. Making the DJB work with his RL commitments, having a high level of patience and determination, as well as being both an active content provider and consumer are all the markings of an Equite member. So it’s my pleasure to recommend Garloaf to Jedi Hunter, just so we can get him onto DJK and then to his rightful place in the Equites.

Garloaf is one of those members that stands out amidst the darkness. Tarentum has received a wonderful person with Garloaf, who displays consistent activity and positive attitude in everything he does. Whenever Tarentum needed him, he was there. Whether it was participating in Fading Light or doing competitions within the House, Garloaf stepped up and left his mark. When we needed someone to run a trivia competition, it was Garloaf who volunteered and ran the competition.
From my experience with Garloaf, he treats everyone with the same respect he’d like from others. He’s a great guy, and we here in Tarentum are very lucky to have him. It is my pleasure and privilege to ask that we promote Garloaf to Jedi Hunter. Congrats man!
Sala Fe, 2015-01-09 05:03:16 UTC
Garloaf has been a relatively quiet and under-the-radar member of Tarentum. I have not personally had a great deal of contact with him except to see the automated emails regarding SA courses completed, crescents awarded, and more recently his desire to move on to doing more within the House. He has helped to run several competitions and was able to do so with a very minimal amount of assistance. He is a prime example of the fact that you don’t have to make a lot of waves to be successful in the Dark Brotherhood. I look forward to seeing the next few phases of his advancement, which are when members need to begin expanding their spheres of influence and growing beyond the confines of their unit.
We are proud to have Garloaf in Tarentum, and I am honored to be able to recommend him for promotion to the rank of Jedi Hunter. Great work, and congratulations!

It's not very often that Tarentum gets a journeyman like Garloaf in its ranks. Despite the busy life he has, he has maintained a consistent level of activity and dedication in his time here. He's one of those stars that burns warmly and aims for longevity; contributing to competitions or acing Shadow Academy exams with a consistent pace that has him as a regular on my activity sheets. Its great to see this commitment from a journeymen, but this isn't the only dedication I see when viewing Garloaf. Along with his consistent activity, he has had very strong IRC presence that has him on everyday and while others may just be idling there - Garloaf is actively chatting people up and making connections with his housemates whether possible. He brings activity to the channel, actively making it better and having a great impact on the Tarentum community. Yet, what makes him stand out is that he is already putting Tarentum ahead of himself at level I struggle to see from some of our mid-Equites. When I was unable to run trivia, and I plead for the other leaders or elders of our house to sub in for me so our journeymen and equites wouldn't miss out on the activity - it was Garloaf who stepped up, creating trivia last minute to run a successful event. When we needed more participants for the Run-on events - it was Garloaf that was the first to step up to contribute. And when we were pressed for numbers and not sure we would make two teams; it was him that nobly stood up and asked we run a team without him.
In fact, he argued over and over that it was in the best interest for Tarentum to run without him. What journeymen puts their unit ahead of them like that? Especially considering the competition's use to getting Garloaf promoted. Now, as we actively purse a victory in this event, its also Garloaf who's been one of the most vocal in our planning thread; both developing the story and pushing for others to post as well as asking for coaching on his work.
Therefore, for the consistent activity, strong IRC presence, and his direct impact and dedication to Tarentum as a whole - I'd like to recommend Garloaf to be recognized with a Dark Cross. Congrats!
