The Phantom Complex Training Area, Port Ol’Val
37 ABY
1400 hours
Adi walked silently onto the empty training grounds, her face held a confused expression. Her master had told her to meet him there, but he was apparently nowhere to be found. The Cathar turned around to leave, but as she came within leaping distance of the door her master appeared in front of her and she felt as if she’d just been hit by a speeder as a wave of force energy washed over her after being expelled from the flat left palm of the Equite. The Jedi Hunter fell flat on her back and skidded across the grounds, her chest ached from the impact of her Master’s attack.
“I thought I taught you to dodge.” Kanis said as he walked towards her maintaining a loose grip on his lightsaber hilt.
“But you just.” she started.
“No buts!” the Templar shouted before igniting his lightsaber and throwing his right arm into heavy downward slash aimed center mass at his apprentice.
Adi’s eyes widened and thinking quickly she rolled to the side, the shaft of azure light gliding past her only searing a small portion of her sleeve.
“Get up and fight me!” hissed the Coruscanti as he turned towards his apprentice’s new location and began closing the distance.
Adi began to panic because she had forgotten her armory saber back in her room, in a flurry of quick glances she spotted an armory rack just on the other side of her master who was now within slashing distance. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before she began leaping back using her sight ability to see her master’s attacks, with each incoming slash the Cathar leapt back and hunched over ever so slightly as to avoid being gutted by her master’s blade.
The Corellian’s eyes flew open and she hissed this time instead of leaping back she pushed in towards his attack ducking into a tactical roll, she could feel the heat of the blade as it seared the back of her shirt, a close call, perhaps too close maybe. Now in the clear she saw her opportunity. She was behind her master and the Armory rack was only just a few meters away.
Kanis smirked as he saw his apprentice seemingly in full retreat, he outstretched his arm hand cupped and used the force to grab hold of her ankle ultimately causing her to fall on her face.
Seeing this as her only chance, Adi stretched her arm out and focused on the force, grabbing hold of the armory hilt though it wouldn’t move when she tried to pull it to her, she found herself pleading in her mind and nearly crying as she heard her Master’s footfalls against the metal floor; finally the saber broke loose of the hold it was in and flew into the Cathar’s hand. Adi gasped and rolled over igniting the blade and holding it up in just enough time to contact that of her Master’s blade. Azure and Ruby ground violently against each other and soft crackles and hisses filled the now still air.
Kanis pulled his saber back and flung it back down in a might filled swing towards his apprentice who then rolled out of the way allowing his saber to contact the floor making a small incision in the floor.
Adi quickly found her feet and stared down her master. “I’m not as much of a pushover as I used to be.” there was a hint of joy and self pride in her tone.
Kanis cackled and then lunged towards her with a slash angled diagonally upwards.
Throwing herself into a spin Adi slashed downward striking her master’s saber blade in an almost unbelievable parry. Kanis extended his blade forward and slashed again, this time Adi brought her blade up to block propelling both herself and her master into a power struggle, but that was short-lived as the Juggernaut used all of his might to overpower her and ripped his saber to the right nearly throwing her weapon from her hand.
The Sly apprentice brought her elbow up in a heavy hit using momentum as she almost thrown down, the blow struck the Coruscanti straight in the jaw at his right flank. The strike came as a surprise and caused him to stagger slightly. causing him lose his already loose grip on his saber, this gave Adi enough time to retrieve her saber, reactivate it, and point it directly at the center of her master’s chest. “Check-mate.” she said.
“Well done my apprentice.” he stated promptly folding his hands behind his back, he then began pacing back and forth in front of her. “I remember the day that Marrek and I found you, you were just some street rat… mere clay to be molded, but today I am proud to say that you have risen above that, for lack of better words… I am proud of you Adi, you have come a long way, but despite this seemingly large victory you have yet to scratch the surface, your training has truly just begun, I have only proven to guide you in the right direction and it will be up to you how you use and interpret those teachings which i have bestowed upon you my apprentice. Though you are leaving my service, I will still look out for you and provide guidance whenever possible.” he turned around and began tracking across the grounds.
Adi raised an eyebrow as she lowered her saber, a moment later her master returned with a long object wrapped in a silky fabric that was tied at one end by strings which bore tassels at the ends.
“I am proud to give you this, I had it specially crafted for such an event.” Kanis smiled as he passed the object from his own hands into Adi’s.
The Qel-Droman eyed the object curiously as she untied the strings and gently brought the material down revealing a black katana that was exactly 0.98044 meters in length.
“M-Master.” she said, nearly stuttering.
Kanis only raised his hand. “You have earned it my apprentice.”
“That’s not all you’ve earned.” a stern voice echoed as a hooded figure walked in.
Ernordeth Puer-Irae emerged from under the hood of the Shadeborn robes.
“With the blessing of our Consul I give you your lightsaber. This weapon is your life. Remember who gave you your life though...you must use it to serve Arcona.” The Sith spoke and after handing the hilt to the new Dark Jedi Knight walked back into the shadows.
“Welcome to Knighthood.” Kanis said.
His apprentice wore a large smile on her face, she caressed the saber hilt in her hands and began examining every inch of the cylindrical object almost reminding Kanis much of how he was when he’d earned his saber.

I am so delighted to be recommending Adi for this promotion. She's been one of the most unassuming and un-entitled members of Arcona since joining, quietly working hard and doing her part with no expectation of reward. This is the culmination of a great deal of effort on her part, and she has earned it in every sense of that word.
Congratulations, Adi -- I look forward to seeing all of the accomplishments that you will pile up over the course of your career!
Proconsul of Arcona
