To those unfamiliar with the Nautolan species, Raiju Kang must appear as a half-breed between a man and a squid. Standing just slightly shy of six feet, the amphibious humanoid has large black fish-like eyes dominating his face above a sharp pointed nose directly below them and a strong jawline exhibiting his humanoid features. Mottled green colors the Nautolan's smooth, rubbery skin and instead of sporting hair upon his crown like most humanoids, flowing off the back of his head Raiju has ten remaining of his original fourteen head-tresses - each decorated with simple copper rings and hang down his back freely moving about with his own movement.
It is hard to sell spice and deal with criminals without partaking in a little of it yourself, or at least this is what Raiju Kang discovered living on the streets as a youth. Drinking, gambling, paying for sex and the frequent narcotics were all a heavy part of the Nautolan's teen and young adult years, but stopped being an occupational hazard and became habit after joining the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. These actions have lead directly to his various debts around the organization, which either have left him with a death mark from or have a tendency to often be called in for "favours" if the collectors are in a particularly good mood - or desire something from Raiju. Yet, while for years Raiju struggled with cleaning up his habits due to his changing morality; he now struggles with how these behaviors impact his other pursuits in life.
Sometimes situations require more than bravo and a lightsaber. That's where possessing a talented tongue has done more for Raiju Kang than just making him popular with the ladies. When much of the known galaxy wants you dead or in chains, having the ability to see the logical benefit for both parties or in becoming "frienemies" can keep a Nautolan alive to see his next meal. Alas, some deals are meant to be broken, even planned for from their conception, if they don't keep the balance of power in Raiju's favour. However, it’s only a matter of time before people wise up and stopping taking the Nautolan for his word.
The reputation of Raiju Kang has been known to precede him, often by his own design as he pursues a life of notoriety. Tales of unbelievable acts have spread across Dark Brotherhood space and while some of this has a grain of truth to it as he is both capable, talented, and uncharacteristically lucky; other stories have been carefully crafted by Raiju's actions or embellished by his own tongue. The unbelievable nature of these stories has a tendency to sour first impressions with others, leading many to wonder about the Nautolan's credibility.
The Journal of the Whills is a legendary record of events in the galaxy. While few in the galaxy understand the journal, Raiju Kang pursues its recognition and entry of his journeys as his sole purpose in life. While few in the Brotherhood give recognition to his claims, Raiju visions himself as an embodiment of the Force - fated to not only impact the galaxy at large but earn recognition in the Journal. Through his deep knowledge of the Journal, he is able to easily recall its details and he frequently attributes the twists and turns in his life as tests by the Force. Finally, in his pursuit to gain entry into the Journal, Raiju is not above seeking out prophecies and visions of others; especially the twisted visions forced from the captive arcanist Jedi he keeps imprisoned.
When it comes to a fight, some like to posture, some like to act tough, some like to dance around and go through all sorts of fancy footwork. Raiju Kang? Raiju Kang doesn't bother with exotic battle stances, intricate maneuvers, or super-secret tactics. Raiju Kang, when cornered into a fight, prefers the ancient technique of a good kick to the nuts. And if that won't work, either because the enemy is a woman or has balls of steel, Raiju Kang isn't beyond pulling a few more cheap tricks out of the bag. Granted, Raiju Kang won't be winning any medals for nobility or any prestige for a unique fighting style or a superb maneuver, but Raiju Kang will still be winning, the best and most dirty way he knows how.
It's been decades since Raiju Kang had last held a blaster with the intent to shoot. Years have been spent training him on the grace and elegance of lightsaber combat and this has left Raiju Kang with the impression that blasters and slugthrowers are a crude addition to the galaxy. Refusing the disgrace of using such weaponry, Raiju Kang not only prefers lightsabers but is not comfortable in combat situations without one. This can put him at a disadvantage against ranged weaponry.
