Braecen stands at 5 feet and 10 inches in height. His body is a muscular frame, though not bulging. What was once a lean frame has blossomed to a heavier build and supports his 200 pounds of weight. By practicing Dulon each day - from Acolyte to Elder - he has been able to keep his dexterity, or grace, while gaining weight with age. As a Juggernaut, he relies on that precise control of his body in battle to edge his opponents.
A shock of light brown hair sit atop his head; golden highlights cutting through it irregularly. It frames his face and matches that of the stubble on his face. Often a very serious man, it is rare that Braecen smiles; though, when he does show off his pearly whites it is a vintage Corellian smirk. It is in his eyes that one truly sees his age and experience. The piercing, ice blue eyes give away the experiences that haunt the man.
Braecen Kaeth feels that every day starts at zero. By the end of the day he must achieve something tangible in order to feel good about himself. No matter how much he may feel that he deserves a day off, if one passes without some form of achievement, no matter how small, Braecen will feel dissatisfied. After each plateau is reached, the fire dwindles for a moment, but very soon it rekindles itself, forcing him toward the next accomplishment. His relentless need for achievement might not be logical or focused, but it will always be with him. It brings him the energy he needs to work long hours without burning out. It is the power supply that causes him to set the pace and define the levels of productivity for himself and those he leads.
When Braecen Kaeth does things, he makes sure everything is done correctly, no matter how long it takes. This means there are frequent delays in Braecen Kaeth's work, but it's usually done right, at least.
For Braecen, life is something of a minefield. Others can run through it recklessly if they so choose, but he takes a different approach. He identifies the dangers, weighs their relative impact, and then places his feet deliberately. He is a vigilant, private person that knows the world is an unpredictable place. Everything may seem in order, but beneath the surface he is aware of its many risks. Rather than denying these risks, he draws each one out into the open to be identified, assessed, and ultimately reduced. He likes to plan ahead so as to anticipate what might go wrong. He selects his friends cautiously and keeps his own counsel when conversation turns personal. He measures every word he speaks. For Braecen Kaeth, life is not a popularity contest; it’s the business of success through survival.
Braecen Kaeth is intrigued by the unique qualities of each person. He is impatient with generalizations or "types" because he does not want to obscure what is special and distinct about each person. Instead, he focuses on the differences between individuals. He instinctively observes each person's style, each person's motivation, how each thinks, and how each builds relationships. Braecen Kaeth hears the one-of-a-kind stories in each person's life. It explains why he knows that one person prefers praise in public and another detests it, and why he tailors his teaching style to accommodate one person's need to be shown and another's desire to "figure it out as I go." Because he is such a keen observer of other people's strengths, he can draw out the best in each person. Or know exactly where to press to bring out their worst.
When Braecen Kaeth looks at the world, he is instinctively aware of other people's performance. Their performance is the ultimate yardstick. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how worthy his intentions, if he reached his goal but did not outperform his peers, the achievement feels hollow. Like all competitors, he needs other people. He needs to compare. If he can compare, he can compete, if he can compete, he can win. He likes other competitors because they invigorate him. Braecen Kaeth likes contests because they must produce a winner. And he particularly likes contests where he knows he has the inside track to be a winner. Although he is gracious to his fellow competitors and even stoic in defeat, he does not compete for the fun of competing. Braecen Kaeth competes to win. Overtime he will avoid contests where winning seems unlikely.
Born with an intractable will and limitless courage, Braecen Kaeth will stand in the face of insurmountable odds and never retreat. Despite the fact that such acts of heedless bravery are inspiring and will sometimes result in victories worthy of song, just as often they result in his allies getting wounded or killed.
