Dek is both a commander and a warrior. He sees war as both something that should be done and appreciated from afar. Thus, war is an art that must be interpreted and conquered. Waxing philosophical about war, economics, and tactics is something Dek does on a daily basis whether it is with himself or others. Some see the value of such thoughts, but many see it as purely pretentious and pointless in combat situations.
Dek believes in the power of laws. To Dek, everyone should be following laws, and those who break them without regard don’t deserve any themselves. Yet, Dek will be the first to admit that the origin of a law is almost as important as the law itself. With a weak or illegitimate origin, the law should (in Dek’s mind) be broken. Because of this, Dek is distrusted by those who work with him. Equally, Dek doesn’t understand that this belief system turns people away from him.
Dek views all sentient life as equal, but knows that the best cultures are the ones that can take and dominate. Dek finds the finer things in life to be enjoyable such as a good game of cards, a rare and unique piece of art, an intricate hard liquor, etc. but Dek values these things because they are omnipresent in many cultures and relevant to cultural dominance. Dek is equally dismissive of lesser cultures that hold onto out-dated and cherished traditions over supremacy. This leads people to see him as high-minded and poofy, but Dek is content with this notion seeing as though he sees himself as superior to most other cultures.
Secrets are everywhere. Dek is aware of this, and knows that sometimes the last vestige of knowledge is inside someone’s head. Thus, he isn’t afraid of dragging it out from the entity if necessary. Dek becomes easily agitated and impatient when people don’t give up their information in a respectable amount of time. The quickness he’ll try to mind trick someone is off-putting. Dek knows this, but usually doesn’t care, simply wanting what he views as something that should belong to the galaxy and not insignificant individuals.
Dek Iron'yikut is utterly devoted to success in combat, no matter the mission, no matter the cost. He has spent his life building himself in the image of war, utilizing a dogmatic regimen that has lead him to a single-minded obsession with military success and requires intense physical and mental training. This training, however, has come at the cost of anything resembling empathy or concern for others - even his superiors and subordinates.
Through careful study and dedication to isolated martial-combat, Dek Iron'yikut has turned the act of dueling into an art form. A keen eye and attention to detail allows him the ability to learn their opponent's idiosyncrasies while fighting. Dek Iron'yikut then uses his own skills to capitalize on the opponent's weakness. Because of this calculated approach to isolated duels, Dek Iron'yikut has a harder time taking on multiple opponents at once at higher skill levels.
