ANNOUNCEMENT: DB-WIDE AWOL CHECK

In case anyone hasn't got the message yet in my repeated announcements, EVERYONE is currently marked as AWOL until they log into www.darkjedibrotherhood.org in order to remove their status as AWOL. All you need to do is log in, those who have as of yet not done so have been individually emailed in case they didn't recieved the yahoogroup warning. I don't know the deadline, my advice is to do it when you read this, it takes less than a minute. If you don't, don't say nobody warned you when you're removed from the Dark Brotherhood... Lastly, if you do wish to leave the Brotherhood or this Clan, please have the courtest to inform me prior to your parting, I do appreciate knowing in advance.

Greetings Clan Naga Sadow,

My apologies that this report is a couple of days late, but I'm in the middle of a week of exams, so you'll have to forgive me for not being around quite so often as I might usually be this week.

A relatively uneventful week I suppose, things continue on slowly, but with a number of competitions currently running, I appreciate that there won't be any active sign of life, as I know most of you are carefully working on your submissions behind closed doors...

...I do hope this is the case, and look forward to recieving some high quality Clan Artisans submissions in the next week or two. Remember, deadline is the 19th of June, so you've still got three weeks to get your submissions in, though sending them in earlier means you have more chance of winning me over to your idea first.

As far as the Great Jedi War is going...don't ask. I don't know, and personally, I've given up trying to know. I gather than Emissary Drako is dealing with it, and that it is a matter of waiting for Mairin to get Broadband access...so, as far as any of us are aware, there's not any numbers to go along with that, so it's just a matter of waiting...

A fair bit of other stuff going on currently though...but unfortunately that too is going on behind sealed doors, and I can't really let you all in on it just yet, but expect me to be asking you all for your input on some serious changes in the Dark Brotherhood over the next few days. There are a number of proposed plans, so look out for news about them either from myself or from the Emissary/Grand Master sometime in the next week or so.

Clan News

Expansion of the Black Guard System:

Well I unfortunately did this at a bad time, as the Chancellor has just gone on leave, so until I get a reply I'm going to temporarily impose the following system:

• Anyone of any Order can challenge somebody for placement in the Black Guard. This means a Sith could challenge the Black Prophet, and vice versa.

• If the reigning Black Guardsman retains their position they will be rewarded with a Dark Cross.

• If the challenger wins they will be promoted to be the new Black Guardsman and will be awarded with a Dark Cross.

• Ad infinitum....

Seeing as how the reigning three Guardsman have only been appointed to take the positions for the time-being, they will not recieve Dark Crosses, however all future challenges will be rewaded with a Dark Cross-merit award.

Clan Website:

I've regained access to the website, and now am capable of getting the site up to date again. I will probably be seeking a new layout first, though it may have to wait a little whilst the people I'd most likely ask are currently preoccupied with various other activities. Still, the content needs a good update, so I'll be dealing with that as soon as my exams are over.

Homeworlds:

Playing Freelancer has given me a whole new world of ideas, and my advice is to go buy Freelancer in order to get your own ideas :P

The main thing that game has made me appreciate is what the benefits of nebulae, asteroid fields and ice-clouds are. In effect these various stellar bodies can be used to decorate our star system and make it more unique, giving it a stronger identity.

True, it may not be as realistic, true you may not get nebulae so close to a star...but it works. Most people arn't astrophysicists, so in the end, does it really matter?

That said, I'm happy for all Clan Artisans submissions to be rather original and creative, one idea I'm toying around with myself is having a planet literally hidden in a giant cloud of gas or ice crystals...probably the later, as a nice light-blue, crystal-clear like sea of ice is a rather nice feature, and would look pretty decent. On the other hand, a thick, dirty and dark cloud of black/purple dust would look rather good too, and possibly fit our image as Dark Jedi more appropriately.

I know some members of Ludo Kressh wanted this...at first I was skeptical...now I am fully supportive of hidden stations, worlds and so on...so if you want to make use of stellar objects...go right ahead.

Vampyre's Fold

The Vampyre's Fold Run-On continues at http://www.chaoslogic.com/db/message_board and the storyline is really starting to get going. Remember, promotions and medals will be given to the best contributors, at the very least I'll be awarding a few Dark Crosses for activity, though I may upgrade that if enough people start to show some interest. There're over 30 of you in the Clan, so lets see everybody make a contribution!

Dark Lord Naga Sadow

As taken from the History of Clan Naga Sadow, Chapter 6

FIVE THOUSAND YEARS had passed since the ascension of Naga Sadow to the position of DARK LORD OF THE SITH, it had been almost as long since the founding of House Naga Sadow. Five millennia of independence and sovereign rule had been sacrificed to the Galactic Empire. It had not just been the followers of Naga Sadow who had lost so much, the ancient Clans of Arcona, Tarentum and Taldryan-together with the entire Brotherhood they had all suffered from the rule of the Empire. In an act of sovereign defiance the Brotherhood of Dark Jedi rejected the authority of the Imperial leaders and of their Empire, abandoning their many systems for the outer reaches of the Unknown Regions to start again. Under the reign of Consul Xanos Zorrixor the Clan retreated from the Phare system, taking with them everything of value. As Clan Naga Sadow withdrew from Phare the remaining Clan installations were brought down with them, from the humblest abode of the lowly Novice to the grandiose Sadow Palace everything that had once belonged to the Clan was destroyed to preserve their independence and to ensure that nobody could ever imitate their tradition. The cycle of time was completed when the Clan fled to the Orian system, a land unknown to the Galactic Republic, an ancient remnant of the Sith Empire. Back where they had started, the followers of Naga Sadow began establishing a new base of operations. No matter how long it would take…

The Setting

Clan Naga Sadow has fled the Empire in search of a new homeland, we have abandoned our homes in the Phare System, including the Sadow Palace, the Sif Temple, the Kressh Fortress, the Black Citadel and the Dark Cathedral. Our search has brought us to the Orian system, the ancient home of the seventh Dark Lord, Urias Orian, and to his homeworld, the ancient planet of Sepros. The system is a diverse home to various forms of life, and it is here that the Clan has chosen to set up its new base of operations...

The Goal

The goal of Exodus, and of this years Artisans is to design this new system in which Clan Naga Sadow will now take up it's home. Unlike previous Artisans we are not decorating the Sadow Palace with new things, this year we are designing the Sadow Palace anew!

The Written Arts Section One | Headquarters Design

For the Written Arts section you are to design your House's new fortress, palace, temple or station. As much, or as little, detail may be provided. If you wish to design an entire world to station your House on, then that is up to you. If you wish to be hidden within the main Clan base of operations, that too is your choice. Entries will be graded solely on their fictional content and how it is deemed to fit into the tradition and overall ethos of the Clan. Additional credit will also be given if a description of the entire world that the House is to be situated on is included, though the submission need only contain detail of the House's base itself.

The Written Arts Section Two | System Design

Also, those who wish to recieve additional reward may submit an entry for the second section of the Written Arts, a full description of the system in which the Clan is to be situated. There is no restriction on how you design the Orian System, you may make it as vast, or as secluded as you wish. Entries will be graded on their originality and in their keeping with the traditional feel of the Clan, and to our history. Entries should include details such as the planet names, climates, terrain, orbital cycle, inhabitants, size of native populations and their facilities, as much or as little information may be included, and of course, the more you include the higher you shall score.

The Visual Arts Section One | Headquarters Design

For the first section of the Visual Arts you are to design your House's new home through the use of graphics, drawings, blueprints or layouts. Your submission should focus on the fortress, temple or palace that your House is to call home, rather than the actual world on which you are to live. Additional credit shall be given to those who work together with another, or with themselves, by giving visual life to an entry for the Written Arts section.

Final Words

Little more for me to say, an interesting week in all, even if rather uneventful. My premature warning that I may not be around that much for the next week or so due to exams, next week is effectively going to be me attempting to learn eight months worth of mathematics which I should have been taught over the year in the period of four days...so, expect me to not be around, and to be highly irritaable when I am, so best to avoid me...like usual :P
