CONSUL REPORT #7 for Week Ending 13/06/2003
Dark Greetings Brethren of Arcona,
_**Clan News:
_Clan Arcona Web Network Update:**
Thanks to Khobai for gteting his Loreseekers site set-up so quickly. It's a nice layouyt and I'm pleased to havea bit of variation amongst the Krath Phyle layouts. I believe he's also going to try and remedy my "Harry-Potter-esque" Dark Orb Phyle layout. That's good to hear!
As for the other BT Leaders....Morth did get back to me but if I were to stick to last weeks report, you'd be removed Rakhai. Going along the same lines - Dagger/Kelric - why is there no Black Nova Sergeant??? I want to hear from BOTH sergeants this weekend and Dagger, can you get apps open for the BN Sergeant position.
House Reports:
JaM3z, Halcyon and Tiss are examples to you all. Dagger this weeks report has not been logged on DJB.org thus it does not appear on the Galeres site either (Arcona Network). All Tetrraches, Aediles PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, just cut and paste it into DJB.org. I'll be checking things have been updated in a few days amd expect no problems with this next week.
_**Independance Games - Clan Standings :
**_Some of the results have been released and they are of a very high level of quality. Event Co-Ordinator, KPN Kaiann, is extremey happy with teh results of the event. Hopefully we should see soem medals for these in next weeks reports. As far as I read it, we currently stand in 2nd place, though this was not aimed at Clan level, this was for individals.

**_Interclub Training Night:
**_DIRECTLY FROM THE OFFICE of Lord Chamberlain, Warlord Mav "Telaris" Cantor:
While the Interclub Training Event has been a giant success for the last month, in truth, participation is on the decline. While it was staying fairly consistent for the previous three weeks, last weeks attendance dropped. While its not too big a deal, I wanted to ask that you all remind your Clans that this event is an excellent way to participate in Dark Brotherhood activities while earning Clusters of Fire. While the event is not about ones score but about learning and having fun, it is in the nature of Dark Jedi to compete at every level... So while Cluster of Fires are being given for winners of matches, the score of the match is not important. Furthermore, three losses will also earn a member a Cluster of Fire.
I would like to ask all of you to email your clans and let them know that the Interclub Training Event is still going on, and that their participation is welcome. :) For more information on this event, check http://www.chaoslogic.com/db/message_board/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=314 ... It holds everything I've mentioned here, and quite a bit more.

GM = On a short LoA due to RL work. He'll eb back soon, but until then, DGM Jac is acting Grand Master.
DGM = Launched a beautiful website, is acting GM, awarded some GJW results with medals and will be holdinga Q&A session after this weeks DB Meeting.
MAA = Running a DB-Wide AWOL Check. You MUST login to be marked as active, else you will be removed from the roster 17/06/03.... Roll up to 360 members!
HM = Working away at getting all these newbies trained up. He's also reviewing and updating courses.
HRLD = The Dark Voice web-site shoudl be outn soon. I've not spoken to Kaine much and my "Project X" is way behind so I'm gonna stopplugging it! :P
CHAN = No news is good news - think the P:CHAN must be doing fine!
SCL = The ACC should be released soon! CG is also looking for a new Magistrate.
KHP = Results for GJW Phase 2 have been released and new KMT's up and running.
OHC = No idea what he's up to...
SHW = No idea what he's up to either!
EMS = Harassing Mairin for the GJW results and working on the CLan structures.
LCH = Plugging the Interclub Training Nights, looking into new game formats and also nearing completion of his website.
JST = Released some IRC conduct rules and is working on a Chamber of Justice site. Blades case is still running.
Competitions:
_**Arcona Competition:
**_I apologise for the delay in the results for "NEW HOPE NEW BEGINNING". I'll get them out to you very soon...hopefully (but I'm not committing myself) this weekend!
NEW COMPETITION LAUNCHED:
In an attempt to get you lazy SOB's to do something, the Great Gavin is offically launching a graphix competition. The start date will be today, and it will run until June 22nd 11:59pm PST. Each member, excluding myself, may enter as many times as they like. The only guideline that said graphic must follow is that it must pertain to Clan Arcona. Examples would be captiol ships or Planets owned by the House or Clan, or a self styled pic of your Dark Jedi. At the end of the competition, all entries will be judged by Con Mejas and myself. Awards are as follows:
1st = Sapphire (Cr-S)
2nd = Emerald (Cr-E)
3rd = Amethyst (Cr-A)
All entires should be mailed to zionsrasta@yahoo and James@Yogle.freeserve.co.uk. If you guys actually do something, maybe I'll think up more comps.....

Exodus:
In a future far, far away, Grand Master Pyralis, after returning from his retirement on an unknown planet, looked at the assembled students in the largest class room of the New Shadow Academy and took a deep breath.
"The universe is indifferent to the little struggles of mortal beings, their fear, their hopes, the successes and failures. Our lifetimes are nothing compared to the bigger picture, yet sometimes, some of us influence history in a way that at least a little part of the universe, our very own galaxy, will remember us. Not necessarily as individuals, but as a group. If this remembrance will be good or bad is always decided by our actions and the view of those who learn of us later."
The old men took a break and let his eyes wander to the electronic records in front of him. Memories, bitter and sweet, rushed back into his mind, some of which he would rather have forgotten. But they were nevertheless part of history.
"In our galaxy, in a part called the Outter Rim, a change happened that did influence stability and economics at a large scale, and in several regions at that. As most of you know, we were once a part of the now destroyed Emperor's Hammer. Yes, the Brotherhood was not an organisation by it's own right, but was ruled by a Dark Jedi called Ronin and his hand Astatine, another Dark Jedi who dreamed of ruling us all with less regard to each of our potentials.
I was there at the time. I have seen what can happen if control is overdone, if the rules are so strict that true development is impossible. I have seen it, and I was Headmaster in the end times of our stay with the Hammer. In fact, I was one of The Seven!"
A murmor went through the room. Probably most of the students had heard of the events and knew of the importance of The Seven. Pyralis was very sure that most of them knew his name before he mentioned the past, yet they must have had a hard time to belive that the fragile looking old man talking to them was one of the most feared and admired Jedi of the time of the Exodus. He smiled to himself. He was old, and maybe he wouldn't have much more time left. But he needed to bring the records to the new generation.
"We broke from Hammer control for several reasons. One of the main reasons was a planet we had discovered in uncharted areas, some distance away from Hammer territory. The planet, as you can guess, is Antei itself. Antei is special, as you all know. Yet, when we told ronin that we would like to settle there, most of us at least, the leader of the Hammer felt that his control over us might be lost if we were so far away. From his point, I guess it made sense to deny our request. But he had not paid attention to the strong feelings our Jedi had about this. No Force user on the quest for power and in his right mind would let a chance like this go. We prepared for the worst and let Ronin know that either he'd agree or we would leave the Hammer. Of course, he didn't agree.
How we got to Antei is for another lesson. Today, I will show you the records of us leaving the grip of Ronin and his consorts. They didn't like us leaving. They tried all things possible to make it hard for us. But we prevailed. "
The old man lifted up the records in front of him.
"Here are the records of those who left. Some of them are long dead, many are still alive. All of them had a unique perspective on the happenings. I want you to read through them, study them carefully. When you are done, you will know more about what had truly passed than our somewhat imprecise official records could tell you. Each of you grab a copy. We will discuss this further in one week time. For now, I need a place to rest..."
Your task: Write one of those records describing the Exodus. Tell us what your character(s) and/or others went through during the flight from Hammer territory. The story should start with leaving or just having left your clan's home and end with arriving in the unknown territories without mentioning any new systems you might end up in!
Your writing can be in first person format if you like, but it does not have to be. It also does not need to center around your character only, because the record could be written by anyone else but you (aka, you can write about things that happen someplace where your character isn't present). You can also write together with someone else if you want to. Try to stick largely to writing about your own clan so that stories from the different clans don't contradict tooooo much.
The closing date is about 6 weeks away, so that hopefully every clan will have designed new home planet systems by the time the winning stories are announced.
Minimum length is 2 pages Arial 12 pt. No maximum length.

Alliance Inter-Club Training Night:
I would like to ask all Consuls inform their clans about the Inter-club Training event that is taking place tomorrow(Saturday the 17th) at 4 pm EST in #Outerrim . We will be awarding all members who participate in the following way: Any win will be awarded a Cluster of Fire, while three losses will also give a Cluster of Fire. Games supported are as follows: Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, Xwing Alliance, Xwing vs TIE Fighter, SW:Galactic Battleground, and Star Trek Armada 2: Star Wars Fleet Command... **_JK Week of War:
_**This even if very important for the DB, as it will show the various other clubs that we are an active organization, willing to participate in gaming, and unlike the stagnation of past affiliations, we will do our part to keep this thing running. So please, make sure to let your members know again! I want to see representatives from each Clan there! :)
Well, this is a wee bit out of my jurisdiction... but seeing as I'm the one who runs our efforts on battlestats.com, I thought I'd write a little bit about it.
For anyone who is interested, there is a Week of War taking place on the MSN Gaming zone from 1am Friday June 13... I guess, an hour ago, to 1am June 20th... 7 days from now.
I don't know how these work specifically in regards to game settings etc, but I assume it's like the XvT and XWA ones where you work that out.
To participate in the War, you must first be registered on http://www.battlestats.com and must be in the DJB's Club... ID 3255. If you want to participate, and don't know where to start when it comes to the whole BSC thing... send me an email and I'll walk you through it as best as I can.
For the sake of garnering more activity and getting our name better known on the zone, we are awarding double the CFs for this... and giving pity ones if you get yer butt whooped :)

**_Lots of awards again this week and a few promotions too! Great to see. Hopefully there'll be more Crescents next week with the awarding of the Independance Games.
This week I finished the new layout for the Antei Combat Centre and am pretty pleased I managed to get over my "designers block".Thanks to JaM3z for nudging me on with it. Khobai is also working ona new Clan website layout and from early examples it's looking really good. I think my reports shpould be back to normal from now on! Let's just hope the Quaestors can keep them coming as well as they did this week...
