CONSUL REPORT #9 for Week Ending 27/06/2003
Dark Greetings Brethren of Arcona,
_**Clan News:
_Consul On Leave Of Absence:**
As I informed you all last week I will be on a leave of absence from Saturday 28th of June until Saturday 5th of July. For this reason my report ou are reading know may be incomplete. Any information that is missing will be included not next week but the week after, July 11th. I have contacted Proconsul Voranyen and asked him to produce a concise report following my layout for July 4th. I look forward to reading it upon my return to see what has being going on.
Competitions:
There are a couple of Clan run comeptitions to take part in, starting this week. Alex (who is supposed to be offline for the summer and working on a farm) has made an extraordinary manouevre, playing his "defunct Preator position card", which has allowed him to satisfy his desire to be active and help Arcona! Thank you Alex! See details to the "Never Ending Run-On" in the competitions section.
I have also left you a competition to sink your teeth into during my absence! Entitled "An Ode To Mejas Doto" you may think I have gone to far....and in all honesty I have! Despite this, I **really **look forward to the submissions I'm going to recieve from it, and I hope a few are of such a high quality they may feature alongside work of otehrs in my Office website.
One final comment on competitions. From CON right down to BT LEADER, whenever you run any competition please make sure it is approved by the DGM via the new DJB.org competitions centre. Not only will this follow in line with Brotherhood policy, but everyone will see how active Arcona is with all our competition requests. Over time, I hope the backlog of competitions will speak for itself and we can use it as proof in our everlasting quest to recruit members.
Internal Affairs - Member Conduct:
There has been an incident recently where one member fell out with another, they then transfered to Rogue and were quite upset. Some of you will know who this is, to be honest it doesn't matter, everything is resolved and it could ahve bene much easier for the members involved, but moreimportantly the Master-At-Arms. I don't want people jumping ship on a whim and the laving only to to finmd the transfer request to return ina few days is denied - Master Corran Force is well within his rights to do this.
In short - if you are angry/upset, get offline, take a day or so to sort stuff out in your head, or look for myself or Voranyen online or contact us via e-mail. Issues should be resolved this way, I hope it will ahppen accordingly from now on.

GM = Has opened OHC for applications since Sharad left us. Khobai - we're all rooting for ya!!!
DGM = Having problems with his e-mail (dumb room mates fault!) but everything seems to be corrected now!
MAA = CoFo has setup a SETI account for the DB. He's also probably wetting himself with excitement at the release of Star Wars Galaxies! Expect more news soon...
HM = Gave Tiss an apprentice, which'll help keep her occupied :P Also working on updating and reviewing courses.
HRLD = New Dark Vocie site is almost complete and rapid progress for the launch will soon be made!!!

AN ODE TO MEJAS DOTO:
I was watching Return of the Jedi yesterday and was moved by the scene where the Emperor lands on the new Death Star and Vader is kneeling, awaiting for his Master's arrival. This got me thinking....if I was to land on your planets as Consul you'd all be doing the same!!!! hehehe
Thus, I wish to release this Clan wide competition for the l33t minions of Arcona. Worship your overlord and show me your love. Here is your task if you are brave enough:

Title: Remembering the Neverending Story...
Specifics: Since I haven't been removed as the Praetor to the Knight Commander yet I believe I have the authority. Gotta love arcane positions. Please don't
remove me. I like it to much. :)
Open Event - Totally subjective judging to be compleated by me.

Stories about my greatness....actually, I'm thinking more on the order of something like "A Day in the Life of" type story here. Close to three years ago almost four Joker began the Neverending Story as a joke, well it's still around and I've got copies. basically a group of random posts about happenings in and around Clan Arcona, random acts of Dark Jedi violence. and the like. Just a nice easy Story.
That's what we're looking at. A group of things that when all submitted will be displayed for all to view about the craziness that becomes Clan Arcona.

Exodus:
In a future far, far away, Grand Master Pyralis, after returning from his retirement on an unknown planet, looked at the assembled students in the largest class room of the New Shadow Academy and took a deep breath.
"The universe is indifferent to the little struggles of mortal beings, their fear, their hopes, the successes and failures. Our lifetimes are nothing compared to the bigger picture, yet sometimes, some of us influence history in a way that at least a little part of the universe, our very own galaxy, will remember us. Not necessarily as individuals, but as a group. If this remembrance will be good or bad is always decided by our actions and the view of those who learn of us later."
The old men took a break and let his eyes wander to the electronic records in front of him. Memories, bitter and sweet, rushed back into his mind, some of which he would rather have forgotten. But they were nevertheless part of history.
"In our galaxy, in a part called the Outter Rim, a change happened that did influence stability and economics at a large scale, and in several regions at that. As most of you know, we were once a part of the now destroyed Emperor's Hammer. Yes, the Brotherhood was not an organisation by it's own right, but was ruled by a Dark Jedi called Ronin and his hand Astatine, another Dark Jedi who dreamed of ruling us all with less regard to each of our potentials.
I was there at the time. I have seen what can happen if control is overdone, if the rules are so strict that true development is impossible. I have seen it, and I was Headmaster in the end times of our stay with the Hammer. In fact, I was one of The Seven!"
A murmor went through the room. Probably most of the students had heard of the events and knew of the importance of The Seven. Pyralis was very sure that most of them knew his name before he mentioned the past, yet they must have had a hard time to belive that the fragile looking old man talking to them was one of the most feared and admired Jedi of the time of the Exodus. He smiled to himself. He was old, and maybe he wouldn't have much more time left. But he needed to bring the records to the new generation.
"We broke from Hammer control for several reasons. One of the main reasons was a planet we had discovered in uncharted areas, some distance away from Hammer territory. The planet, as you can guess, is Antei itself. Antei is special, as you all know. Yet, when we told ronin that we would like to settle there, most of us at least, the leader of the Hammer felt that his control over us might be lost if we were so far away. From his point, I guess it made sense to deny our request. But he had not paid attention to the strong feelings our Jedi had about this. No Force user on the quest for power and in his right mind would let a chance like this go. We prepared for the worst and let Ronin know that either he'd agree or we would leave the Hammer. Of course, he didn't agree.
How we got to Antei is for another lesson. Today, I will show you the records of us leaving the grip of Ronin and his consorts. They didn't like us leaving. They tried all things possible to make it hard for us. But we prevailed. "
The old man lifted up the records in front of him.
"Here are the records of those who left. Some of them are long dead, many are still alive. All of them had a unique perspective on the happenings. I want you to read through them, study them carefully. When you are done, you will know more about what had truly passed than our somewhat imprecise official records could tell you. Each of you grab a copy. We will discuss this further in one week time. For now, I need a place to rest..."
Your task: Write one of those records describing the Exodus. Tell us what your character(s) and/or others went through during the flight from Hammer territory. The story should start with leaving or just having left your clan's home and end with arriving in the unknown territories without mentioning any new systems you might end up in!
Your writing can be in first person format if you like, but it does not have to be. It also does not need to center around your character only, because the record could be written by anyone else but you (aka, you can write about things that happen someplace where your character isn't present). You can also write together with someone else if you want to. Try to stick largely to writing about your own clan so that stories from the different clans don't contradict tooooo much.
The closing date is about 6 weeks away, so that hopefully every clan will have designed new home planet systems by the time the winning stories are announced.
Minimum length is 2 pages Arial 12 pt. No maximum length.

Alliance Inter-Club Training Night:
I would like to ask all Consuls inform their clans about the Inter-club Training event that is taking place tomorrow(Saturday the 17th) at 4 pm EST in #Outerrim . _**This even if very important for the DB, as it will show the various other clubs that we are an active organization, willing to participate in gaming, and unlike the stagnation of past affiliations, we will do our part to keep this thing running. So please, make sure to let your members know again! I want to see representatives from each Clan there! :)
Well, this is a wee bit out of my jurisdiction... but seeing as I'm the one who runs our efforts on battlestats.com, I thought I'd write a little bit about it.
For anyone who is interested, there is a Week of War taking place on the MSN Gaming zone from 1am Friday June 13... I guess, an hour ago, to 1am June 20th... 7 days from now.
I don't know how these work specifically in regards to game settings etc, but I assume it's like the XvT and XWA ones where you work that out.
To participate in the War, you must first be registered on http://www.battlestats.com and must be in the DJB's Club... ID 3255. If you want to participate, and don't know where to start when it comes to the whole BSC thing... send me an email and I'll walk you through it as best as I can.
For the sake of garnering more activity and getting our name better known on the zone, we are awarding double the CFs for this... and giving pity ones if you get yer butt whooped :)

Former Proconsul - KPN Khobai: He has served as Quaestor of House Galeres for 5 months. While he admits he wasn't the best Quaestor, no one can dispute either his loyalty or dedication to both Galeres and Arcona. Dagger has stayed with Arcona through varying tribulations, and he even volunteered to become Quaestor of Galeres, when no other candidates could be found. I think this certainly demonstrates his extraordinary devotion to Clan Arcona. More importantly, Dagger has won us dozens of victories; helping to establish Arcona as the most powerful of all Dark Jedi Clans. Undeniably, Dagger has been the backbone of Arcona's strong JK2 presence, and as such, Arcona owes him a lot. In addition to his numerous JK2 exploits, Dagger has undertaken various side projects, involving the creation of JK2 levels. His talents with creating levels have proven to be quite useful, and I hope he continues to contribute those levels for Arcona and the rest of the Dark Brotherhood.
Clan Proconsul - KPN Voranyen d`Tana: It's absolutely true that Dagger's been the backbone JK2 player in Arcona for over a year now, even after Mage and Redneck left... even if it didn't involve a lot of work, just his presence in the Clan is a large part of our firepower.
Clan Consul - DJM Mejas Doto: I am going to echo many of the sentiments above. Dagger is loyal, commited, he has strengthened Arcona with his individual skill, his willingness to contribute missions and levels for others to use and his character as a peron. Dagger recently lead Galeres as QUA for around 5 month's and he knew himself when it was time to step down, the mark of a great leader and Clan-lovin` member. This Grand Cross is thorougly deserved.
