Okay, this is a few hours late, but I hope you've not been in too much pain waiting for Shadow Academy news :-P
The big one this week is a new course - DJM Arania Lawakiro has created a really good primer on writing run-ons and I guess some Krath Houses will make this a mandatory one in preparation for the next GJW where it's almost assured there will be a run-on (when was the last GJW without one :-P) I recommend taking a little time with this one, this is none of the 10-minute "pass from memory because I've been doing it the last 5 years" courses.
Then, thanks to Kir Katarn who has upgraded and de-EHed the Test of Lore. He's spotted the problems very well and I especially commend him for having taken into account the questions that caused Initiates the most problems. Kir, I'll have a little talk with the CHAN about this :-P
Third, there is the December issue of the DJB anagram mystery, to be seen if you scroll down a bit or click here. Of course it's a tad harder than the last one. Oh, and a few items may be a bit more obscure, think a little outside the box for this one!
Fourth, it seems those can't be avoided, but I'll have a Christmas competition for you folks as well. Not really a christmas theme tho... just something I wanted to run for a while and now you'll get it. You'll see around the 20th.
Fifth, some of you may know me as quite active as a judge in the ACC and I want to add a few things to as a one-time thing to Cyris' weekly reminders:
To get your initiation fight, you need to challenge a trainer (not a judge!) - and you should place the fight in the Qualifying Hall - I see quite a few challenges in the Training Hall which is for further training after the initiation. While the Training Hall error can be rectified, regular judges must reject your qualification requests and refer you to a trainer - sorry.
Make sure your weapon skills in the character sheet reflect the weapons you want to use. Having a single weapon in a fight and a 1-point skill in that is hardly gonna do you much good :P
When accepting a challenge, please choose armaments comparable to what you're being challenged with. When your opponent uses a dagger, don't reply with a 10-line walking arms store. It'll make for a boring fight on both sides...
(All of these based on real judge incidents BTW...)

You can however use the training hall before battling in the Qualifying hall, but this will not count as qualification, so you will not be granted permission to fight other fighters unless you have proven yourself in the qualifying hall.
