Time to get back to regular Friday reports. The mid-week ones weren't doing it for me :)

This has been a better week for me. No exams, only a few classes (that I went to). I've been regaining my sanity slowly over the last few days. :P Luckily I didn't do as bad on the exams I took last week as i thought. I could have sworn I bombed all of them, but I only bombed one and did Low B high C level on the rest. I still suck, I guess.

My girlfriend got into Grad school. That's excellent news for me, cause she'll be in Columbus no matter what, and she'll be done in a year instead of 2 somewhere else. Now I just need to get into law school here and I'll be set.

I determined last night that I am not a fan of Sake Bombs. Not a fan at all.

I'm running dual monitors at work as of this morning. Quite sweet.

I made a post on this a few days ago and just wanted to reinforce it a little bit.

There's a BIG reason why the Dark Council doesn't release stuff before it's done: Most things aren't set in stone until the very end. When ideas and such float through the group of us, some are great and some are ridiculously stupid. By fate, it just so happens that only the ridiculous ideas are the ones that people leak to everyone else.

When someone comes up to you and says "This is what Jac said!" or "This is what FF did!" or "Kaiann is doing this!" use some logic and don't believe what is normally fourth-hand knowledge. Take it with a grain of salt, cause what you hear probably is not what is really going on. I don't like these "doom and gloom" rumors. And on that, if I see you spreading lies and causing unnecessary ruckus, you will be dealt with.

And speaking about the rumors and such, one of these this week was that when we switch to the RPG system, we are going to require you to completely scrap your characters and start over.

I cannot stress more how completely false this is.

Kaiann, Mav and I have been working diligently on creating a balance to the system that will let us keep everything that we are used to. This includes rank and medal values, power availability, relative abilities and the like.

Will your character change some? The answer to that is yes. We are moving from a system with practically no rules to a completely rule run system. There are going to be limitations on what you can do with your character. The goal though, is that you participate and earn the rewards necessary to make your character everything you wanted and more.

While I'm at it, there's something I want to say about our characters. We are not all gods. There are a lot of people who write into their stories stuff their characters do which is just insane. Sure, you can be strong, but to make your character uber makes the DB not fun and makes stories and the like dull. I mean, I don't speak for everyone, but Jac has some weaknesses. If he didn't, he would be absolutely no fun to play.

In the RPG system we are not going to all be gods. So if your character is one now, I suggest you get out of that mindset.

After getting annoyed at looking up some email addresses, I decided to make it easy on myself and create some mail aliases for the DC members.

sooo...Now I have set up [Log in to view e-mail addresses] for every DC member. So I would be [Log in to view e-mail addresses].

fun huh?

Waiting for Trev on a few things for the GJW until we can move on. The plot is finished...we just need the story and events flushed out.

I am compiling the final site requirements for Thedek. Once I send that to him we are going to get the final stages of analysys underway. I am the one holding up the project right now, so i want to get this done asap.

The RPG stuff has hit a few snags due to some requirements I've put on it. Kaiann and I are working together to get the numbers finalized so we can move ahead again.

Mav and I made some good progress on the Wargame system last weekend. I hope to get even more done this weekend.

New report section. I always have a few things to say that I just can't justify putting in their own section. I will also include here a merge of my old to-do list with some goals for this week.

  • I will award those LSSs I owe from a bit ago tonight

  • The Absence power has been added to the Powers section of the DSC to fix the Blackness error. See other news post

  • The Dark Council submitted internal reports this past week. It actually helps a lot. I am going to rotate everyother week requiring them. In the inbetween weeks, I'll write my own to the rest of the DC.

  • We are going to be releasing a few more details about Rebirth in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Current Projects

  • Clan and Order Powers

BF and I have come up with a better scheme for awarding the powers and I will be writing up the information on that this weekend.

The Clan and order powers are being merged with another proposal of Trev and BF's as well.

  • RPG

I need to finish working with Kaiann on developing a system of balances between higher and lower level medals

This week i will go over the general information that Kaiann and Mav are sending me for my approval

The RPG has lead to some needed medal changes. I will be talking with Flech about these this week.

I will be developing a set of benchmark tests to determine RPG balance between like-level members

  • Wargaming

Mav and I need to work out some numbers on Position benefits.

I need to get an update on the systems manual

  • CoJ website

Yeah -- I should finish this. I have the design finished...but I think for a long time it moved from the back burner to the floor.

I owe Thedek some information today that is a few days late.
