Yeah -- that's right, it's exam week! Wooooohooooo! :( ::cries::
I have 2 exams on Monday and a paper due, then 1 exam on Tuesday. None of
them are going to be fun at all. Don't expect to see much of me tomorrow,
Monday or Tuesday, cause I'll be studying. The good news is though, I'll
have a week and a half off that I can devote a lot of time to the DB.
I went on a visit last week to my law school of choice. The people there are
great. Whereas at Ohio State the people treat you like you are just another
damn student, the Capital people actually stop what they're doing and help
you with sincerity. It was a nice change. I'm looking forward to getting out
of here.
News on the cool front is that good 'ol Flechette has an interview with my
boss on Thursday. I could be working about 15 feet from Flechers here in the
near future.
Other than all that, my life is hectic as normal.

It is less than a month until our first Celebration of Independence. That's hard to believe at this point. It feels like just yesterday that Ronin was calling the RS a bunch of "butt nuggets". Ahhhh nostalgia.
Given the gravity of this event and the memories it brings, we will bring in
the new year with a series of events and announcements starting on April 5th
and concluding on the 12th. I will be getting in touch with Clan Summits
soon about their participation in this week of celebration.
I can't wait. :)

I strongly encourage everyone to scroll down and read my long news post about the changes in Guilds and Societies. It is a big change in the way we think about some things, and should help keep us better organized and prepared for the future.
Also -- I encourage you all to look at the new DSC section that explains
all of the details.
A lot of you probably noticed already, but there is a completely and
utterly stupid name right now for Kelric and his position with the PA
Society. This is only temporary until Kel and I come up with a new one. :)

For any of you who would like to learn how to increase your stupidity through use of asinine statements and opinions, I would refer you to the various logs that I have read this week regarding the ACC and the appointment of Gryffon to Combat Master.
It is a complete waste of time and effort to sit and complain endlessly
when a position appointment doesn't go the way you think it should. Some
of you are the most selfish, single minded people when it comes to this
stuff. The world doesn't revolve around you and what you want. You have
two choices: work with Gryffon, or quit. Some of you have already chosen
option 2 like babies. That is disappointing, and believe me, I won't
forget your unwillingness to be open about this. I have complete
confidence that Gryffon can and will do what he is set out to do. If he
doesn't then all we have lost is time. For what I think he can do, it is
worth that risk.
On a similar note, some of you have some nerve to accuse me openly of
bias toward Gryffon. I have been MORE than open to other
opinions on CM. I sent out all of the applications to 6 people for
review and got different recommendations from all of them. I received
more opinions than I knew what to do with and in the end, Gryffon was on
top because of what he can bring to the ACC, not because he was a
Cantor. If you think that I am biased like that, then I suggest you get
to know me better. I may be pretty firm in my decisions, but I am NEVER
biased toward something like a family name. Hell -- I've only talked to
Gryff a few times before all this anyway. If I hear this crap anymore,
I'm going to start yelling, cause it really pissed me off the other day.
Anyway -- the lesson is you can either choose to work with us or you can
do nothing. The decision on Combat Master is final, and some of you can
stop your crying.
If you can't tell if that was directed at you or not, it
wasn't. This includes the people I've already talked to about this.

As all of you should know by now, the new DB mailing lists are up and running thanks to CG and Jam3z! This is a huge benefit to this club. I can't tell you how much of a pain in the butt Yahoogroups were to keep updated.
I spent about 5 hours the other day setting up the lists and will be
setting up some more soon. Theses are ones that will be working soon:
ClanCON (EX: ArconaCON would go to Mejas), ClanPCON (EX: ArconaPCON will
go to Jam3z), ClanSummit (will go to the CON, PCON, QUAs, AEDs, and RMs of
the specific clan), GMRG, and Envoys
Hopefully these will be up shortly.
There are a lot more features that we are going to be building into the
new website such as the ability to set your mailing lists to daily digest
mode, and the ability to view the mailing list archives. Should be fun!

It has come time for me to learn ASP.NET using C# and I want to give some other DBers an opportunity to work with me in doing so. I just bought a book today and will be going through it over the next month or so to learn yonder new language.
Sooo -- I am planning to open up a study group to learn .NET C#. In this
group I will be sending out a problem or two each week, and we will assist
each other in figuring out how to code a solution to the problem. These
problems will be billed as competitions and I will be awarding Crescents
for their completion. Further -- this group will serve as a good
information resource for website and I will occasionally scan in a page
from my books to help us all.
All in all, I think this will be a good help for some of us. If you have
never programmed before, it's never too late to start. We are going to
start with the very basics of getting your computer (Windows machines of
course) set up to practice .NET and then we'll move on to the very basics.
Email me with interest.

I sent the site requirements to Thedek and he is working on compiling all of them into usable documentation. I will be adding to this as he goes, of course, since we keep coming up with new ideas (AKA mailing lists)
The other news is the .NET study group mentioned above.
As far as the rest of Rebirth goes, I will be sending out to the DC a
flow chart of responsibilities for Rebirth. It should help us
communicate a little better on the projects.
I am going to work closely with Kaiann and Mav right after exams to
figure out the last of the RPG holdups (my fault) and we will get moving
again on that. Gryffon will be in on some of this too to discuss ACC

Current Projects
BF and I have come up with a better scheme for awarding the powers and I will be writing up the information on that this weekend.
The Clan and order powers are being merged with another proposal of Trev and BF's as well.
I need to finish working with Kaiann on developing a system of balances between higher and lower level medals
This week I will go over the general information that Kaiann and Mav are sending me for my approval
Flech and I will be implementing some medal changes this week
I will be developing a set of benchmark tests to determine RPG balance between like-level members
Put on hold until RPG stuff is done.
Waiting for Rebirth website
Haven't pushed this off the ground yet. I will be working with the DC members to get this going soon
Trev sent out the rituals for review by some people. You all need to get back to him :)
