PCON Report (Part 1): 10 May 2004

Good day CSK...

I feel it necessary to get everyone on the same page as my head for once, rest assured, I will not be berating anyone this time :) This is just my opportunity to let my brain spew for a bit. This will also consitute (in part) my PCON report for the week, so read it, please.

The PCON

It has come with much regret that I am announcing my intention to resign my position, in order to focus my time more effectively. My personal agenda is to see Galthain re-opened and the glory of the Sith of CSK re-born. Many have noticed my order change and many have wondered why... well, this is it. For those of you who are jumping for joy at this moment, for whatever reason, please understand that I am NOT leaving today. Instead, I will wait until after the GJW as now is not the time for any more instability. It has been brought to my attention that the general state of the Clan is my fault. This opinion has been brought to me from those outside the Clan as well as those from within. As I have always said, "I want what's best for the Clan..." and this is proof of that. I do not take our shortcomings lightly, and I hold personal responsibility for them - after all, the time has long since passed for the "he did this..", "he didn't do that..." nonsense.

I have accomplished all that I have intended from this position, more so in fact, than I had planned. But times need to change and it will most likely have been a year (without an LOA) for me as PCON by the time I step down. I have given more than 100%, if that is possible, witnessed the completion of the CSK system, gotten through two tough rank levels, seen the promotion of many who were well deserving (including my first apprentice to DJK) and rose to the pinnacle of the Combat Centre as Supreme Champion - a small list of things I can be proud of. Nevertheless, some feel that I am not fit for this position - so, it is to them I bow and show my loyalty to Satal Keto.

Pressing On With Opinion...

The Krath have taken a huge hit, but not one I don't think that they can recover from. I have some strong opinions about the way things are going for them - but it is no longer my place to voice those opinions. I have tried to give what advice I could - but it fell on stubborn and deaf ears... a folly ripe for reaping. Each of us has our own way of doing things... some work better than others (notwithstanding that some are merely based on personal power trips and NOT the good of the Clan), and perhaps the future will be bright for the once powerful Aleema - at least, that's what I hope.

Kirleta has also fallen from grace, but for seemingly different reasons. Kirletans, by tradition, were extremely loyal to their leadership, and when that began to go haywire things started to break. The eyes are on the SWL Vessicant to repair that breech - but only time will tell... His style is a little too 'hands off' for me, but maybe that's what needs to be... who knows.

I won't say that 'we need active people' because that is obvious. Rather, what is keeping the folks we have from being active? Lack of Pride? Lack of opportunity? Leadership shortcomings? Fun? Ignorance of the DB? - Perhaps all of these have a bit of truth in them. A philosophy of mine, that didn't go over to well when I mentioned it (but proved a fact and 95% effective with DJK M'Kel Kahn), was treating every member like a personal apprentice. That is - hounding the hell out of them, holding their hand, retracing every step and keeping them notified on every single thing... UNTIL THEY TELL YOU TO STOP :) At which point they will either be able to walk on their own or fall on their face - either way, you'll know their intentions and their motivation.

The Future

I see Satal Keto great again... I really do. But its going to take some work. I will continue to give all that I can, as I always have, with the hope that I can be here on the day that we are a power again. Until then, I don't see any arguments for my resignation and only smiles from those who wished it to be so in the first place. All of the important CSK stuff that I have been maintaining will be forwarded to the satalketo.net domain that Gryffon has set up - easily accessed by the next PCON (who, in my opinion 'should be' the keeper of said information as a general rule). It might lose a bit of its graphic flare, or lack thereof, but will be available nonetheless.

Anyway, its been nice letting my thoughts out a bit (and you all should know that isn't all of them), but I have come across a strong desire to stop for now - maybe a part two before I actually step down - we'll see :)
