Clan Arcona Report 11/16/2004

“Light is Limited, darkness is infinite.”

Greetings, all.

Apologies for the lateness of this. And as I have been fairly “not around” recently, I feel I should give a run-down on what is going on with me:

1. Work – As mentioned continuously by me, I have a rather stressful and time-consuming job right now. That may change drastically by next month, but for now it is a great strain. With the Thanksgiving Holiday coming (for us Yanks at least), the volume of work is increasing by the day. Add to that the fact that my company is also switching computer systems as of next Tuesday, there will be more of a rush than usual, in an already rushed span of time.

2. Personal stuff – We all have it, and so do I.

These things have been sapping a lot of my energy to think outside of work over the last couple of weeks.

** I am going to take a LoA as of today, mainly because I don’t think I’ll be of any use in delegation of Clan affairs while my mind is in the middle of this real life mess. **

The fact that I will also most likely be putting in a lot of overtime over the next week means even less time and energy to devote to the Clan.

For now, I leave the affairs of the Clan in Lan’s most capable hands. I will return (hopefully to full strength) next Wednesday, November 24th. In the meantime, however, I have not fallen off the face of the earth, and can still be contacted through email, as I do still check that. But my IRC time will probably be nil for the next while.

Well, it was a tough decision, because Lan and I received some very good applications, but in the end, we decided upon Ktulu. Congratulations to Ktulu! But, as a modifier, we’re not going to specify an AED, mainly because I want Ktulu to pick someone he thinks he’ll be able to work with. Thus, I leave that part up to him. Lan, if you’ll submit the requests to get Ktulu’s status changed, I’d appreciate it.

-=Phase 2 Comps=-

I am very pleased to see the progress being made in the House Comps. I suppose it would be better to call them “House Monthly Topics,” and “Clan Monthly Topics,” even though it’s not all about writing, to better emphasize the “low stress” attitude about these things. They’re not MAJOR competitions, but a regular series of activities in which to take part.

Now, I already have the details of the next “Clan Monthly Topic” thought out and some portions all ready to post. This will not begin, however, until after my LoA, and probably not until December, after the Thanksgiving Holiday.

-=Holidays=-

And that leads me into this: winter is our slow time. With people getting ready for school finals, vacations, holidays, etc., the next month or two will most likely be pretty “slow” across the majority of the DB. =Don’t let this bum you out= It’s something that the vets from the EH & DB have come to expect from time-tested patterns. But, this is a =very= good time to initiate personal projects geared towards a promotion. Nothing impresses us big-wigs more than personal initiative, and creativity.
