Hello again everyone. Welcome to my weekly delve into the Life of Jac. This
week has been filled with so many ups and downs that it was unbearable. I'm
sure some of you noticed that I wasn't myself last week....and I think it
was rightly so.
So I took exams before Christmas break, and, to make a long story short,
there was a problem with one and I had to retake it last wednesday. Further,
I could have sworn I failed my contracts exam, and I missed more classes
than what is allowed for Criminal Law, and the teacher could have failed me
for that.
Considering that my entire life is pretty much based off of my grades for
now, I was going through hell last week waiting for them. They came on
Saturday, but all week I was going through the thought process of what
happens if I fail, I had to retake the test, and then I had to go home for a
fiancee adventure. I needed to get a 2.7 to keep the nice 27,000 dollar
scholarship that I get each year.
Much to my surprise, I pulled off a 3.498 gpa. YAAAAAY!
I can now relax and get back to normal. I'm caught up in classes, email,
DBish issues, and stuff like that. I've continued my workout regimen from
the year's start, and have lost close to 15 pounds in 3 weeks. The fiancee
is happy with me these days....Everything is all around good. Go to
Situational Commentary for my DB stuff.
So yeah -- it was a rough week, but it ended well. Needless to say, Jac is
back in full Jac-form.

I had two really good talks last night, one with BF and one with Pyralis.
There is a reason that I keep those two on my staff. BF knows to come to me
and tell me what is up and what he thinks needs be done, and Pyr knows how
to kick me in the nuts to get me moving on things.
I've talked about this before a lot, about how I have a tendency to
sometimes fluctuate my DB activity. I'll hit a rough week, fall behind on
things, and then it takes me a bit to catch up. I was really good the two
months before winter break, but then it's taken me until now to get things
back up.
The reason I bring this up is that the DB has a problem in that things have
a tendency of flaring up and going to hell when I'm not paying attention. I
talked with Pyr a lot about this last night, that the DC and the DB on the
whole, while it is an independent entity lead by independent people, relies
a bit too much on Trickle-down activity.
This is why I have always picked leaders by their show of initiative. It's
one of the greatest things about people like BF, Kaiann, Trev, Mav, Lannie
etc.: They see a problem, they confront it, come up with a solution, make
decisions, and fix it. A lot of times we get into the bad habit of seeing a
problem, saying "oh look! there's a problem", and then nothing gets done.
I want you all to watch for that this week. Constructive initiative is the
name of the game. When you are in discussions about a project, instead of
saying "that won't work" say "that won't work, here's why, and here's and
alternative solution." You'll find your productivity rise a lot.

I started work last week on what I am calling "The Conception Project."
Basically, what I am doing is fleshing out the work that still needs to be
done for rebirth that people other than CG, Jam3z and I can do. This
includes text for different parts of the website, help pages, form layouts,
etc. etc.
My goal with this is to primarily free up some more of my time so I can help
CG and Jam3z, as well as to get things done faster. I will be assigning
these tasks to DC members and other competent peeps to have the tasks
completed in a good timely fashion.
Just thought I'd let ya'll know.

Congratulations on the 3.5!
Not that I know what that means, but I'm assuming its a performance rating system of some sort :P Well done, if its the rating thing I'm thinking of, 3.5 is pretty close to perfect.
