Report: 15 April 2005 </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>ACCLive! Judges</td> </tr> <tr> <td>OE Korras Aquillarum and JH Kat Pridemore have been appointed as ACCLive! Judges. These individuals were selected to be the primary contacts for ACCLive! matches on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so make use of them!! This is, officially, a Krath platform for the gaming nights - but it is not restricted to the Krath, obviously. Have fun with it folks, you're chances of winning a battle are 50/50... better than some of the videogames - hehe. </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>As with the other gaming nights, battles will be worth 1 CF for a win and 1 CF if you get three losses. The format is 2+2 so its very short and the 'criteria' are all but out the window. This means that you will win based of of the whim of the Judge... just kidding. Seriously, they have been directed to follow the criteria loosely enough that style and content are more important. If you are a combatant that always came up short when scrutinized, this may be your chance to rack up a few victories. </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Again, have fun with it and keep those two folks busy :)</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Ladders</td> </tr> <tr> <td>The CHL is heading into the 3rd round. As some of you may know, the next round is 8+2 so you might want to bring your post lengths down a bit so you don't overdo it. Remember, too much is just as bad as not enough - if you thought I was picky before... hehe, well... nevermind.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>There is a new pilot ladder open for signups and it will be run by DA Halcyon. It will see the victory of the ACC's first "Ace" - the pilots answer to the Champion title. The top of the iceberg is "Baron", which I am sure we will see awarded soon enough. </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Character Sheets</td> </tr> <tr> <td>I'm killing the reminders this week. Instead, I need to address a couple of other points real quick, one of which being weapons. I am all about guns, I have a rather fine RL collection myself... but this is a Star Wars club. If you have any thoughts about getting a sheet passed (or renewed if you somehow got it by a previous time) with RL weapons stuff on it, you can forget it. A bunch of people put a lot of time into creating a new weapon guide for the ACC, so it would be wise to use it... if you still don't think so, well you have a final option. One individual got it into their head that you can 'challenge' a declination of a CS because of weapons... that's not true, so don't think you can. If your sheet gets declined because of a weapon, you can attempt to get the weapon approved - Remember, we don't decline them just for the heck of it, so, here's a bit of what you're approval request should contain:</td> </tr> <tr> <td>1) An origin of the weapon </td> </tr> <tr> <td> - I will tell you from what I've seen so far, it takes a bit of work. Don't think that 1 page of info is going to get the job done. The last species approval I saw was 80+ pages; this being a weapon, I'll be gracious enough to cut that by 1/4... to 20 pages (no graphics. if it has graphics, it'll get lost). How was the weapon created? Where did it come from? Who created it? Does a form of it already exist? How does it work? What are its strengths and weaknesses? These are some (but not all) of the questions that should be asked when creating a weapon from scratch.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2) How your character came to be in it's possession.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> - Based on where it came from, how was your character lucky enough to come across this weapon before anyone else in the universe got their hands on it? After all, since approval needs to be sought because the weapon doesn't exist in the SW Universe, its a safe bet that you have the only one, right? Otherwise, I'd be able to find references to it somewhere. It would be a good idea, to help the authenticity of the weapon, to include SW canon 'landmarks' to establish it's realism.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>3) Why should you be allowed to have this weapon created?</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>After you write this up you can send it to me... but there's some things you should know: a) I might still say no (i.e. poorly written info, extreme lack of SW realism, a form of it already exists etc.), b) even though you get it approved through me, it doesn't mean the RPG system will agree with my approval when re-birth hits, so you might lose it, c) You can go to the RPG crew first, but because they approve it doesn't mean I will - it might have to get put aside until rebirth. We have hit that bump with a couple of things, and most 'kindly' agreed that they'd keep their stuff to themselves until rebirth, and when it hit I'd let it in the ACC with a big smile - that seems fair, so you might find yourself in the same boat.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Now, you may be asking... why is he such an ass? Well, here's why... as I said, this is a Star Wars club - most of us here are fans of it, and like to keep whatever integrity we can. Yes, I know that there are A LOT of concessions in this club, but it would be impossible to keep it perfect... the DB might not exist if we had to. In the ACC, we are dealing with all types of fans, but the central theme to it all is SW. You say that it would be fun for you to sport a Remington 700, all tact-out, but it wouldn't be fun for someone else, and since this club is what it is, the SW Universe wins... every time. SW has its equivalents of almost anything out there... all I ask is that you find it. Yes, there are also things we allow that are in RL and not in the SWU, like the 'katana'. By name, it's a fleet... but its reference as the name of a sword type is so common that we use it to avoid confusion. </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>In the end, you decide whether your weapon gets approved or not. You decide by how much effort you put into its creation. There is a distinct difference between 'custom' and 'created' weapons. Most folks who have custom weapons are just re-works of ones that already exist... they need to be approved as well, but with far less effort. To create a weapon from scratch does not make it custom. After you do all that work and get it approved, it goes public and into the weapon guide where anyone can use it. So, in some cases, its better to go for a custom weapon if you want to be the only one with that 'version'.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>I hope that cleared some stuff up. As always, there's a method to my madness and everyone is treated equally - even those of you who barge into my office with an attitude - your weapons (or anything for that matter) will be given the same due as the individual who genuinely follows protocol.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Weekend</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Have a great weekend! Those of you in round 3... rest up, the intro's will be out Monday morning!</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>
